25.01.2022 It started with a dream to turn empty carparks into pop-up homeless shelters - now, while Australia sleeps, a secret trial has been underway to give our most vulnerable much more than just a bed. www.7NEWS.com.au #Homelessness #7NEWS
25.01.2022 Met Shaun yesterday... homeless for 3 months now, Shaun sleeps near a church compound in West Leederville. He needs help to get into a home as soon as possible... Shaun's on pension and can afford rent (although he may be on the bad credit list - he wasn't sure)... the man in his late 50s looked decent, was very polite and humble. If you think you can help or know someone who can help with a place and/or a job, please reach out to us.
24.01.2022 This week let's commit to share a conversation with a rough sleeper. Amit Sundrani is one task-force member who has taken it upon himself to do just that. Sometimes a simple chat can go a long way to exuding joy and happiness to someone who may need it more than you think.
24.01.2022 Some of our taskforce members - Chahak Garg, Smit Patel & Melvyn Ruben Gilbert hit the road this weekend... met several of our beneficiaries (meet Donna and Linda) around the CBD area and distributed 'Positive Spin' necessity packs among them. Homelessness is not something we should allow to thrive in our city; the only way to stop it is to serve together, with joy...

21.01.2022 Great news in fighting the issue of insecure housing and homelessness! The State Government has unveiled the WA 10 year Strategy on Homelessness. The strategy includes: - The unveiling of a new $150 million Housing Investment Package... - Plans for more than 500 new social or affordable homes to be built, plus 70 homes to be refurbished - A policy to support people on low incomes and other vulnerable groups - A construction program to create around 1,000 WA jobs and stimulate hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity - Temporary changes to Keystart eligibility extended by an extra six months With the Christmas season now upon us, this comes as welcome news and is an indication that although we have a long ways to go, we are walking in the right direction. Have a look at the plan by following the link below: https://www.communities.wa.gov.au//homelessness-strategy-f

14.01.2022 MIRACLES HAPPEN At our inaugural fund raiser on Friday night, we had amongst us, Stephen Robinson (right to Premier Mark McGowan). Stephen was homeless till then, sleeping in his car and scouting around for a safe place in the northern suburbs... his situation is one that could happen to anyone of us - a financial debt cycle that took the better of him. Gary Bennett of Polyvisual (left side of Premier) pledged to relieve him from his debt by providing the support needed and... getting Stephen off the road into a place he can call "home". Gary was attending the dinner with his partner Tracey Callcott What a stunning moment it was in Stephen's life... He was almost in tears. With Gary's help, Stephen's night was nothing short of a MIRACLE...

10.01.2022 The weather forecast said it would be rainy and gloomy today... BUT, it turned out quite the opposite - good and sunny. With basic utility items for the homeless, we've come a long way in our outreach activities. Our task force members go out regularly and meet people, listen to them, spend time together and share whatever little we have. To ordinary people like ourselves, it brings a sense of joy to be able to share and a sense of value for what we have. It also helps thos...e who need it more than we do. We're looking out for more volunteers to join us. If you're keen to devote your time in making a difference, reach out to us.

07.01.2022 'Positive Spin' project' aims to provide mobile laundry service to homeless people in Perth and surrounding suburbs. With a hall full of people including indigenous elders, academics, politicians, corporate leaders and well-wishers, our inaugural fund raiser for the project was a grand success. The project also received endorsement, among others, from the top man of WA himself - Hon Mark McGowan, Premier of WA. His presence humbled us as did of many other dignitaries who cho...ose to support us through their attendance on the night. Highlights of the night was one, Stephen Robinson. Stephen has been homeless for a little while, sleeping in his car night after night. Trapped in a financial debt cycle, Stephen found it extremely hard to get out of it. We invited Stephen to the dinner. With the help of the Spier's Centre, he managed to get a black suit and a black tie. Without singling him out, we shared his story and in less than an hour, one Gary Bennett pledged to pay off his entire debt. With Gary's help, Stephen is 'homeless no more' - an instant result for us and a life changer for Stephen. "There's only one day we live at a time and we must continue to make our today better than yesterday"

05.01.2022 Fancy dining experiences and black-tie functions seem to be somewhat becoming a trend in fundraising lately. However, people more often voice disappointment over such classy evenings being nothing more than another stunt for corporate profiling. Therefore, this draws the question: Does that extravagance hurt the cause more than it helps? Click the link to learn more
