25.01.2022 As tomorrow is International Guide Dog Day I have used this as an opportunity to reflect on the wonderful training progress I have seen evolve over the past 12 years.

20.01.2022 Are you getting into the Christmas spirit? Video description: text reads dog poses for Christmas photo. Video shows two dogs wearing Christmas hats, sitting side by side, the black and white border collie puts one paw around the shoulder of the other dog and leans his face in, as if posing for a photo.

18.01.2022 Some great ideas and advice from our friends at SuperDogs Positive Behavioural Training.

17.01.2022 Last week Jax went to the vet. Not because she was sick but to donate blood for other sick dogs! Usually she wears her walking harness but since the vet shaved her neck for the blood draw we thought it’s better if we can let the fur grow a bit more. Thankfully she has been conditioned to wear the halti head collar so she could walk and run safely today without any rubbing on her skin. What a good girl.

16.01.2022 Today Jax met the horses up close for the second time this year. She looks much more relaxed and comfortable! It’s wonderful to see her progress over time, likely also because of the relationship she and I are developing. As she learns she can trust me, the new creatures she encounters can be explored more courageously. I can tell that her body is so much more loose in the muscles compared to when she is stiff and tight when concerned about something. She still furrows her brow and stops to stare, she’s definitely not completely relaxed but is making mountains of progress. Jax could be jumping and vocalising instead but she is lovely and quiet.

15.01.2022 Merry Christmas Picture description: cartoon of a cat and a dog. The cat looks into a Christmas gift bag. Cat says: this bag is empty. Did you just get me an empty bag? Dog says: yes. Next image is of cat sitting in the bag. ... Cat says: I love it so much. See more

12.01.2022 The goal of my run is to increase my fitness. The goal of Jax’s run is to live her best life. Pictured is Miss Jax in her happy place - on top of a very large log. Picture description: Jax is a large black German Shepherd cross Labrador, in a sit atop a huge log with her head tilted and her tongue lolling out to one side.

09.01.2022 We love a happy customer. My training dog today heard my car pull up and I was told she ran two laps of the lounge room in delighted anticipation of training. Happy doggoes is what we are all about!

09.01.2022 Hot days are my favourite but it may not be a favourite for your pets. This post from our local council is great - remember the footpaths and roads can get really hot! If you can’t leave your bare hand on the ground for 60 seconds then it’s too hot for your dog’s feet. Choose early morning for walks or do some enrichment activities at home and keep lots of fresh water available in a shady spot.

06.01.2022 Excellent and important article to understand about recognising risks to keep dogs and children safe.

05.01.2022 For someone who is blind, getting around safely requires a lot of concentration. Everyone can help out by ignoring their dog and keeping your own dog at a comfortable distance. Happy International Guide Dog Day!

04.01.2022 Free online dog training conference for those behaviour geeks out there who can’t get enough learning in! Times are listed in USA Timezone.
