22.01.2022 NO GAS TERMINAL IN WESTERNPORT BAY! In a HUGE environmental win for Westernport Bay and the countless organizations and individuals who fought for this campaign, today @richardwynnemp ruled out the proposal due to environmental impacts. Organizations such as @environment_victoria, @savewesternport, @vicnationalparks and countless grassroots groups have worked together for months to educate the community on why this proposal should not go ahead. ... Minister for Planning Richard Wynne said today 'This has been an exhaustive, open and transparent process and this is the right outcome for the local community, the environment and Victoria as a whole. It's very clear to me that this project would cause unacceptable impacts on the Western Port environment and the Ramsar wetlands - it's important that these areas are protected'. The FWP crew couldn't agree more, and are so encouraged by this ruling. Huge shout out to everyone who made submissions, called their local members and advocated for this ruling. It's important to celebrate the wins when they come along, so take a beat to soak in this incredible feeling, as moments like these fuel us for the long road ahead #savewesternport #nogas #climateemergency #forwildplaces See more
