09.01.2022 We are ecstatic to announce the Australian Celtic Festival is going ahead in May 2021 Glen Innes Severn Council agreed to a smaller COVID-safe 2-day event in May 2021 at their Ordinary Council Meeting on 26 November 2020. It may look a little different, but the Festival will still be a celebration of Celtic music and culture encompassing bands, stall holders, dancers and other performer. The event will still be held at the Centennial Parklands, home of to the iconic National monument, the Australian Standing Stones. Some iconic events we have grown accustomed to won't be going ahead including the Street Parade and some of the events held within the wider community. 08.01.2022 The Glen Innes Highlands offers endless scenic trails, dirt tracks, panoramic views and country roads for mountain bikers both experienced and novice. You will find 80km of incredible trails in the Gibraltar Range and Washpool Heritage National Parks. Bike riders have endless options in these two parks. If you are someone who loves a challenge, try to complete the World Heritage Walk which is 45km of trails in one day. Generally, a guideline of 6 9 hours is realistic for ...completing the whole thing. Alternatively, take life a little slower and spend a few days exploring some of the shorter trails: Mulligans to Boundary Falls is 18km, allow 2 to 3 hours on a bike. Boundary to Washpool is 18km, allow 2 to 3 hours on a bike. Washpool to Mulligans is a shorter trail at only 10km but it offers a challenging steeper track for more experienced riders. Allow 2 to 3 hours. Mullligans Visitor area to the bottom of Dandahra Craigs is 18km, allow 2 to 3 hours. Check out the NSW National Parks website for more tracks as the choices are endless. Our mountain villages also offer great destinations for those who love to explore their beautiful world on 2 wheels. Both Ben Lomond and Emmaville have kilometres of roads that are crying out to be explored.
