20.01.2022 hello Friday garden helpers . tomorrow will be too wet to work in the garden . when the soil is too wet , there is more damage done than good by digging , or even walking on the beds , so enjoy a day dry somewhere else , and lets see how wet it is next week . love Mel. x x

07.01.2022 The Global Pandemic of Parasitic Infection Pandas are endangered, tigers are endangered, orangutang are endangered whilst at the same time over 17 000 global ‘i...nvasive’ species are taking on plague proportions. Meanwhile in your gut the same thing is happening. Turns out, the status of ‘parasite’ is a bit like that of ‘terrorist’ ... in many ways it depends upon your perspective. Lately it seems that having a parasite is a mandatory pre-requisite for being cool, and is thus a lot like having a tattoo and being on the spectrum. You need to know your LGBTQI terminology and the name of at least one parasite you’re carrying. As any gardener will tell you, when you disrupt an ecology the first plants to move in and cover the ecological gaps and bare earth are invasive ‘weeds’. These ‘weeds’ however, are seen by enlightened gardeners and ecologists instead as ‘pioneer species’ as they perform important functions in re-establishing a thriving ecology. So too in your gut the ‘pioneer’ species of bacteria that first move in to reclaim the territory are the microbial equivalent of invasive weeds rather than the old growth rainforest you carelessly destroyed. These are the lantanas, crofton weeds and camphor laurels of the bacterial world and soon enough you’ll be waging war on them too. But why would all of these parasites be blooming I hear you ask? Are all bacteria simply rising up to take over the world? No actually, in fact many bacteria are actually endangered. This is unsurprising considering the mega-tonnes of anti-biotics we have pumped into the rivers and oceans through our rampant use of them in standard agricultural practices. The web of life itself is hurting sweet friends and there are millions of microbial pandas that desperately need your empathy and action too. For example, exalobacter formigenes, which is responsible for 95% of our oxalic acid metabolism used to be present in everyone, and is now quite rare in adults. So at a global level we have the decline of the pollinators happening at the same time as the blooming of these ‘invasive species’, whilst at a local level you have stinky farts and runny poo. Clearly we need to kill the bad guys right? What you need is to nuke your intestines and pray the good guys somehow survive. Given the fact that staggeringly high amounts of people are already walking around with colonies of anti-biotic resistant bacteria (and spreading them to those who attempt to avoid ABX use unless truly needed) this may no longer be an option for many people. The antibiotic era is officially coming to a close. So I guess its back to wormwood, green walnut husk and clove? Has anyone else noticed yet that this tincture combination rarely works on entrenched dysbiosis?! Its great before a liver flush, but it’s only a very mild anti-parasitic when taken in this way. The solution is to care for the earth sweet friends. The parasites in your gut are symptomatic of the global ecological crisis and the massive changes in the macro and micro-zoological landscape. Our little pills n potions can’t hope to keep us immune from Gaia’s larger dysbiosis. We're all in this together. Whilst doing that however, we still need to strive towards a solid bowel motion every now and then. Whilst most of my clients know about the many dangers of antibiotics and the central role of our microflora in human health, many seem to think that following up with a course or two of probiotics and sauerkraut sets the balance right again. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Probiotics only replace a handful of species. and it may not be much better with fermented foods. Antibiotics however wipe out hundreds of species which are almost impossible to replace. The non-sporulating anaerobes for example are so sensitive that there is currently no known method to reintroduce them. The lack of some of these is already known to be connected to autoimmune conditions, inflammatory diseases, psychological disorders and metabolic problems. The ecologies in our guts have literally taken generations to develop - but have been decimated within a few short decades. Don’t get me wrong, probiotics have their place, but only if your environment is receptive to them. There is thus a significant shift in emphasis towards pre-biotics in the integrative gastroenterological community (you should see the wild parties we have). The science is impressive and fancy sounding, but boils down to reducing stress, grains, junk and sugar and increasing resistant starches whilst eating a broad array of rainbow coloured vegetables as the base line. For those who want a ready-made solution I make the following products: Jimi’s Grow-Your-Own-Intestinal-Rainforest Prebiotic Green Banana Flour Pueraria Root Slippery Elm Carob Orange Peel Cardamon Broad Spectrum Anti-Parasitic Myrrh Pomegranate Coptis Orders: A 12 day short course of 50 organic hand-made capsules - $40 + postage (for the mildly dysbiotic). 25 day Supply of organic hand-made capsules - $75 + postage Dose: 2 caps am n pm 200gram Jar of freshly ground Pre-biotic: $40 or two for $70 (+ postage) Dose: 1 teaspoon on rising with 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder together with the above dietary changes and daily sauerkraut. ORDERING: Send me a PM and my PA will RSVP ASAP.
