23.01.2022 Join us this week as Ps. Dylan continues our series in Esther looking at Esther 2:1-18. So often God interesects our journey in the most unlikely ways through the most unlikely circumstances. Where is/has God been working in your story?
21.01.2022 FINDING GOD AGAIN | Where do we begin? + + For many in the church and beyond, COVID-19 has highlighted what many have struggled with silently for many years. The experience and knowledge of God that once was so clearly established in and through our Christian worldview, now seems so hard to reconcile with our changing time and culture. This worldwide situation has forced us to press the 'pause' button on our busy lives, allowing us to tend to the spiritual formation of our h...earts and head. Some have become refreshed as we have been freed to contemplate God's goodness in the absence of programs and hurry. Others are nervous about reconnecting with the wider body for fear of returning to the treadmill of serving. Some have fallen out of the one thing that had left them hanging on to God - the Sunday gathering. We may even find ourselves in a journey of inward renovation of our hearts and beliefs, finding on the one hand that we are growing in our love and inclusiveness of people from many walks of life, yet becoming frustrated when we see our Christians brothers and sisters hung up on open-handed issues. Can the God we once knew be found again in this changing world? + + In this season we invite you to join us at FOSTER as we seek to find God afresh in the many aspects and complexities of our world. We will cover such topics as finding God again in: - Community - Politics - Marriage - Silence & Solitude - Work ++ Series beginning September 6th, watch this space for more details! #Godcanbefound
21.01.2022 Hey FOSTER! We will be taking a break in our Esther series for the next while to make room for some "words in season" for our church in this moment. Be on the lookout in the next few days for what we have coming up! - Dylan
13.01.2022 Join us this week as Ps. Dylan looks at Esther 1:10-22, contrasting the Kingdom of God with the Kingdom of Darkness.
12.01.2022 OUR FIRST LOVE // If this season has taught us anything, it is about dying to our old attachments and embracing the new. In these crushing and pressing times, God is offering us the new wine for a new wine-skin. We approach this space where God is waiting for us, and we feel led to begin to throw away things that we don't feel were of God in the first place, through learning the art of saying 'no'. + + Although it is possible to end up with too many 'noes'. We may say no to... a former way of thinking or feeling, no to a once life giving relationship, and no to things we once did. However, when the 'noes' in life becomes more than our 'yes' to invite the person and presence of Jesus to lead us, we have welcomed a spiritual battle far darker and deeper than we ever thought possible. + + Potentially a better re-frame is to ask the question: "Where was God in these past experiences and in this past season?". If God is working mysteriously by His Presence to keep us held in Him, then many graces of His character may be found in even the simplest of things. Where has Jesus been in this past season for you?
10.01.2022 Join us tomorrow at 6pm as Dylan continues our series in the book of Esther!
09.01.2022 TRAUMA & TRANSCENDENCE ++ The events of 2020 have in many ways put on the radar for the majority the reality of what more than the minority live with ; complex trauma. Studies suggest that 5775% of Australians will experience a potentially traumatic event at some point in their lives (Mills et al. 2011; Rosenman 2002). Christians can be tempted to diagnose, fix and rescue, and in doing so, deny the potential of trans-formative digging of deep wells of love and empathy. ++ B...UT, what if by denying the pain, we are in fact denying the grace, power and anointing of the Healer who is made perfect in our weakness? What if we are cutting ourselves off of a supernatural encounter in the most unlikely space? ++ The testimony of many people is that through their trauma, breakdown and pain, God has become all the more apparent and encountered them at a time of desperation. To such mourners, the bibles message is not to cover up your tears, but to allow your tears to position you before the Almighty. ++ The wound is the place where the light can enter you. See more
