25.01.2022 Looking for a good ram? come find one at Fosterfield on farm Ram Sale - Sunday 20th October - we will have 42 fine wool merino rams for auction - 30 poll rams and 12 horn rams (10am inspection, 12noon sale)

24.01.2022 Merry Christmas from all of us at Fosterfield we hope you have the chance to take a few minutes to sit, relax and enjoy a great Christmas and new year in reflection, 2019 has been a tough year for our sheep, we’ve been hand feeding since April stock water will be a critical issue in the near future, with most dams being only mud puddles at the moment. The combination of dust and smoke has seen some great sunrises/sets but sadly the clouds have not produced any rain of note - we have had good results with our rams sales, and enjoyed successes with our wool and sheep at various shows and competitions and thankfully, both the wool and sheep markets have remained strong allowing us to invest in the remaining stock.. All the very best wishes for a great ‘green n muddy’ 2020..

24.01.2022 Interested in seeing some good rams? - come and find us at the BMA - The Land Sheep Week event at the Bathurst showgrounds Tuesday 18th June - 10am til 3pm

22.01.2022 well - April came and went in a blurr..... on the sheep side of things, we crutched the ewes and shorn the ram lambs earlier in the month (thanks Andrew). Then later in the month we put the sires out with the ewes - i forgot to remind them about the social distancing rules.......... Thankfully, we have had some great rain during the month, culminating in 70mm (gently over 3 days) at the end of the month........ and for the first time in 3 years, there's water running in the creek....... so, with a little bit of mud under the boots, lets hope the paddocks stay green for a little bit longer........

22.01.2022 well - here we are in the middle of winter - and so far, the season has been relatively kind the young rams are looking good with water in dams and grass in paddocks, things are going promising at the moment some timely rain has made things damp in preparation for a good spring (fingers crossed) just around the corner..

21.01.2022 We held our 18th on-property ram sale over the weekend - we were challenged with 45mm of rain over Saturday and Sunday - but we still got a good crowd of people to come and have a look. We sold 22 of the 30 rams on offer - with a top price of $1700...... averaged $1100...... We had good support from local producers (10 different buyers), a mix of new and our loyal repeat buyers....... Considering the weather - a pretty good result - I was pleased to see the rams go to good homes...... we still have rams on hand if there are people looking for good quality fine merino flock rams Many thanks to team fosterfield for your assistance in setting up and running of the day...... I can't do it without their help.

21.01.2022 I just thought i'd crow a little bit about the team of fleeces we had sent around the local shows - some pleasing results - we got Champion merino e/w fleece and Supreme exhibit at the Blayney show - and Grand Champion and Champion e/w fleece plus a Champion rams fleece at the Sofala show along with some other ribbons - woohoo !! .......And 50mm of rain a few weeks ago.... so lets hope the season continues to be green.....

20.01.2022 a dress rehearsal for the open day on Saturday 10th Oct - ready and waiting for your visit

15.01.2022 We held our 17th on-property ram sale over the weekend - we had a good crowd of people come to have a look. We sold 27 of the 40 on offer - with a top price of $1800...... We had good support from local producers (9 different buyers and all purchased multiple rams), a mix of new and repeat buyers from past sales - I was pleased to see the rams go to good homes...... we still have rams on hand if there are people looking for good quality fine merino flock rams ... Many thanks to family and friends for your assistance in setting up and running of the day...... I can't do it without their help.

12.01.2022 Welcome to 2020 - January has flashed past in a blur of dust, smoke and storms. The start of the year saw us bathed in dust and second-hand smoke, with no water in dams and the continuation of feeding. It also saw an exodus of sheep (sadly), which was shortly followed by a few much-needed storms late in the month. Thankfully, these have filled dams (with both water and rubbish) and has made the grass grow (although still feeding grain to all the young sheep) - it’s amazing how quickly things can turn around...... let’s hope the rain keeps coming so the country can recover........

11.01.2022 Fosterfield did well at the recent Bathurst Show - with six 1st place ribbons (including Champion Hogget fleece and the '3 of a kind' fleeces), we had two 2nd places and three 3rd places....... April was another busy month, with crutching and joining for the ewes - and the shearing of the hogget rams. the Autumn break came and went in a flurry of frosts and no rain...... so things look like a typical autumn season

10.01.2022 Welcome to Autumn (where did summer go?) - we had some success at the Blayney show recently, Champion commercial value fleece and 2nd for fine wool fleece and a 2nd for medium wool fleece. The summer has treated us kindly, with green grass right through the season...... lets hope the good run continues.......

07.01.2022 November has been a test of the elements - of earth (some of the worst dust storms I've seen) - of wind (losing several trees) and of fire (smokey haze, thankfully the fires are not near by). So another busy month goes by, the feeding continues - the 'left over' rams got shorn (thanks Andrew) - the lambs got marked (thanks team 'fosterfield') and despite the poor season at both joining and lambing we have marked over 100% lambs - one mob being 130% - pretty good result i reckon . Lets hope the random summer storms bring some rain to make the grass grow.....

05.01.2022 Well, winter ended with a bang, which included the first real snowfall to settle on the ground for years - but sadly not enough rain to make things green. Its been a busy, with the local super six ewe competition (Fosterfield won the superfine pen of ewes, 2nd in the medium ewes and also reserve champion ewe) - and then shearing time, which went well, but flashed past really quickly....... The constant has been the ongoing dry, with early morning feeds for all the sheep, some spectacular sunrises and great views over the valley........

03.01.2022 Spring has arrived - with a few falls of rain to keep the grass growing - what a difference a year makes......... this month, we have just completed our shearing (good work team) without any fuss, and we've seen the arrival of our new sire (RP18-1563) from the recent Dubbo ram sale (lot 8) - looking forward to a great spring season...... and lets hope the wool market bounces back

03.01.2022 some good results from the Bathurst Show - we were lucky enough to take away a range of ribbons......... and just as exciting was almost 30mm of rain over the show weekend
