07.01.2022 Less than a month til Jasmine Carey and Darren Jew head to Lord Howe Island with Dr Richard Smith - Ocean Realm Images for the Foto Frenzy Search for Endemics trip! One of the critters were chasing is a species of Pygmy seashore named after a man who added much to the record of Australian marine life, underwater photographer Neville Coleman. Youll be able to follow our search from the 17th of February. We have a couple of spots free in the trip should you want to join us... www.fotofrenzy.com.au Pygmy Seahorse Species 4: Courting pair of Pontohs Pygmy Seahorse (Hippocampus pontohi). This species was named in 2008 alongside Severns pygmy seahorse. It was later discovered that these two are actually just one species, which is rather variable in colour. * I realise I missed species 3, but that would be Colemans pygmy (Hippocampus colemani) from Lord Howe Island off the East Coast of Australia. I am going there on a pilgrimage next month to search for this species (Join myself and Darren Jew if youd like!), so keep your eyes peeled here to see if Im lucky ;)
