25.01.2022 And ... that’s a wrap! It’s been a couple of days for the coal dust to settle on ‘The Fotoz Flyer’. What can we say? For all those who came along and enjoyed the ride on the first single-headed, unassisted steam train over the Blue Mountains since 2007, a big thank you! 5917 walked away with it, what an awesome engine! The overwhelming support for the event and positive feedback (running at about 99.45%) has made the marathon efforts by those involved all worth it. Looks like... there were plenty of motorcaders out getting plenty of shots, too. Don’t forget to order your Fotoz DVDs so we can put it on again! For those on the train who picked up complimentary copies of ‘NSW in Steam 2013’, we hope you enjoy watching it. There were a few people who had departed the train at Katoomba before we handed out the DVDs. If you were on the train and missed out, please message us. A big thank you to the Lachlan Valley Railway for making the trip possible in the first place. We even achieved the mission of retrieving the LVR FS carriage from Lithgow, which gave passengers a bit more room on the way home. We’re not sure how some people found the hours in the day to do what had to be done in the lead-up to this trip, particularly LVR secretary and treasurer, John Healey. It was great that LVR and Transport Heritage NSW (RTM) could co-ordinate the effort and ultimately make it all work. Now, you all want to do it again, we understand. :P

10.01.2022 Fotoz Flyer postponement It is regrettable that we have to announce the postponement of the 2015 Fotoz Flyer. Unfortunately, several factors out of our control have all lead to this decision, including securing a path to Nowra and the availability of steam engine and suitable carriages for our train all of which have become issues since announcing the trip. As we promise a unique steam-only experience, we do not want to downgrade the Fotoz Flyer by truncating the trip or us...ing unsuitable rolling stock. We will endeavour to reschedule the Fotoz Flyer to a date later in the year and make it a great steam train experience. We will contact the many passengers already booked regarding refunds. 03.01.2022 Now that we've all had time to rest and recover, and after countless showers, its time to reflect on the 2015 Fotoz Flyer hauled by 3237 and 5917. The feedback from the trip has been excellent. From the fast run along the Southern Highlands in the wind and rain, the hard climb up the Illawarra Escarpment with the sound of the locomotives echoing across the hills as they slipped and struggled, to the now infamous Tunnelgate 2015 at Coalcliff Tunnel where we came out the other ...side with a black train, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, even with the late arrival back into Sydney Terminal. Locomotives 3237 and 5917 punched above their weight and beat every challenged they faced, truly a credit to the locomotives and their crews. First and foremost, I would like to thank Lachlan Valley Railway Society Cowra NSW and their volunteers for their support and operation of the train. We couldn't have done it without this incredible team who rose above and beyond for our trip in more ways than could be counted, including getting 5917 ready and signed off to operate the train. Secondly I'd like to thank Richard Whitford and Sam Roach of Fotoz for their efforts in organizing the trip, and the many people behind the scenes at Fotoz for advertising, organizing, and supporting the efforts of everyone else with their tasks and jobs to help fine-tune the tour, plus keeping us all sane! Finally, on behalf of all of us at Fotoz, we would like to thank you, the passengers, for helping to make this trip one of the best in memory. Without your support, this tour would not have been possible, and we hope that you enjoyed your unique and special evening on the train.
