Luckily Sash didn't have to have the alternative procedure of a 'vertical cross' which is what most people seem to think she would have. Thanks to the amazing handiwork of the Heart Surgeons (there were 2 performing Sashs surgery) her scar is hidden under her bikini top. ... 25.01.2022 Check these out!! These little machines are crucial to assisting patients to stay as healthy as possible prior to lung and heart transplant surgery. Portable oxygenators provide a more reliable source of oxygen.... Sash didnt have access to one of these prior to her surgery and instead was stuck in bed attached to a large, noisy static oxygen machine. 24.01.2022 Post surgery Sash went into early stage rejection and spent a further 3 months attached to an IV machine 24/7. Some weekends she was allowed to get away though - but she couldn't go far!! This is Sash and Indi having a mediholiday at Hyatt Regency Perth. P.s: Love the slippers Sash!! ... 23.01.2022 KOLBUSZ SPACE OPENING 2020! We Love It! This is the piece created and donated by Waldemar Kolbusz - Artist for our event just over a week ago. ... This is the second year Wal has supported us and significantly contributed to our fundraising efforts for the Lung Transplant Unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Over the past year Wal has been busy creating Kolbusz Space - a purpose built studio and gallery created to show his work as well as being a commission free exhibition space for curated shows, emerging artists and a secondary market stock room. Wal is currently working on pieces for showing at M Contemporary in Sydney, Gallerysmith in Melbourne and also at Sydney Contemporary Art Fair in Sept 2020.

23.01.2022 Thank God for Technology! We love this photo an early heart transplant in 1987 - as it reminds us how far medicine has come in the past 30+ years. This photo of Dr Zbigiew Religa, Heart Transplant Surgeon in Poland, sitting there watching his patients vital signs following a heart transplant was chosen as the National Geographics photo of the year in 1987.... You will see in the top right hand corner his surgical assistant asleep on the floor following completion of the 23 hour surgery. Dr Religa and other early pioneering Specialists (and patients) have helped transform organ transplantation surgery. 14.01.2022 Sash back at the Pullman Bunker Bay Resort and feeling well! Prior to her transplant, Sash spent some of what she thought could be her final weekends down south at Bunker Bay Resort. Hubby would have to drive down with a car full of medical gear (IV machine, nebuliser, bags of medicines and all the normal holiday stuff), then he'd drive back to Perth and grab her and Indi and start all over again.
