25.01.2022 Today we said goodbye to a highly respected and much loved colleague as he heads into retirement. Working across Lodging, support and the Street to Home program, Peter has worked with hundreds of residents and supported many of these into housing and then helped them to sustain their home. He will be very much missed by his close knit team and everyone at Foundation Housing. We wish you all the best on those golf courses Pete
25.01.2022 Nothing like a Dad joke to celebrate our fathers on their special day. Tell us your best (worst) dad joke in the comments below and Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there.
25.01.2022 Throughout this #NRW2020 we asked our residents and staff what National Reconciliation Week means to them. These are their responses. #InThisTogether2020 https://youtu.be/QGSuTUSc0n0

23.01.2022 We are very proud to be part of the 20 Lives 20 Homes Fremantle project and echo the sentiments expressed here by Michael from St Pat's. We welcome inquiries from property owners in the Freo area who would like to learn more about how they could participate in the program as a landlord. Email [email protected]
22.01.2022 We were proud to take part in Shelter WAs panel discussion today, to mark the start of Homelessness Week 2020. The topic of housing and support in a post-COVID world made for a fascinating discussion and all panelists received a smoking stick from Shelters Chair - Gordon Cole as a thank you. We hope these discussions keep the issue in the public eye so more homes can be provided for those in need #HW2020
22.01.2022 Candidate for Perth Lord Mayor Brodie McCulloch visited our Bennett Street complex in East Perth this week to meet with our CEO Chris Smith and some of the people who live in this modern and comfortable building. Brodie heard first hand about some of the issues people face securing safe and affordable accommodation within the City of Perth. The Bennett Street complex is home around 70 people who live in either studios or one bed apartments. We were keen to show Brodie the great view residents enjoy from the 6th floor terrace. Foundation Housing provides 234 units of accommodation within the City of Perth, with plans underway to expand our affordable housing portfolio in the city in the near future. Community Housing is an important part of the housing mix in central Perth.
21.01.2022 We appreciate you thinking of us AWB Co. - these have gone to some of our vulnerable tenants and were very gratefully received. We are lucky to work with so many great partners who go the extra mile to help those in need
21.01.2022 The Foundation Housing Scholarship Program is available to all tenants and residents who are considering or currently undertaking study. Applications close next week, 28 April. 19.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day and its a reminder that on every day, we should support people who may be struggling. Are you OK? is a question we need to ask sincerely any time we notice the signs someone may be struggling. But theres more to say after R U OK? If someone says theyre not OK make time to listen, encourage action and check in. National suicide prevention charity R U OK? has developed resources that provide simple tips to help people keep the conversation going and know what to say after R U OK? While many of our staff continue to be home based, were able to catch up remotely and this morning our R U OK? themed backgrounds were a great reminder to regularly ask this important question. https://www.ruok.org.au/ #ruokday2020

19.01.2022 Mental Health Week has wrapped up for another year, but we couldn't let it pass without sharing some photos of the special cupcakes that were served to get our staffs' attention to this important issue! Over morning teas in each of our offices we watched some videos from Beyond Blue’s Heads Up initiative on how to support colleagues who may be having a tough time.
18.01.2022 How gorgeous are these painted boab nuts? They've been created and distributed around Broome by Ines, a housing support worker with Broome Youth and Families Hub and her team. Many of them represent a local agency that supports people experiencing housing instability and we think it's pretty special Foundation Housing got one too! Foundation Housing provides lodging, social and affordable housing options for people on low incomes in Broome. #HW2020
18.01.2022 Our tenants share what it means to them to be living in a Foundation Housing home.
17.01.2022 Jorgen has created 13 posters for our Hampton Rd lodge and also shared them amongst the Freo community. He's helping keep his culture alive by interpreting Noongar words into English and we are thrilled to have supported this work. Great work Jorgen, this is a fantastic initiative
17.01.2022 The warm spring weather put everyone in a great mood for our annual report photo shoot in Balga. This complex of units is home to a wonderfully caring community of seniors who share an interest in gardening and always make sure to look out for one another. Our Community Engagement Coordinator Neal was also on hand to host a Chat and Grill bbq so tenants could get together and catch up. #communityhousing #foundationhousing #communityhousingwa #communityengagement #perth
17.01.2022 Some of our fabulous staff and Board members celebrating International Women’s Week at the Australasian Housing Institute and Shelter WA event today. Some great insights from a panel of accomplished women and really lovely to be out of the office and enjoying each other’s company
16.01.2022 We will be closed from 4.30pm on Thursday 9 April until 8.30am on Tuesday 14 April. If you have a maintenance emergency during this time please call 1300 895 205.
16.01.2022 Some of our staff and tenants got together over an informal bbq at our Bennett Street building to mark Homelessness Week. Our CEO Chris and CFO Jeremy did a great job getting the sausages done despite having to improvise and move things indoors when we had an issue with the bbq. Our building on Bennett St is home to around 70 people on low incomes, many of whom have experienced housing instability in the past. It was good to yarn with them about how they find living in the building. #HW2020
15.01.2022 Tenants living in a Foundation Housing complex in Balga recently got together to brighten up the life of a fellow tenant struggling with poor health by giving his front garden a makeover. Vans friends in the complex worked together to clear out the garden in front of his unit and then, with Community Engagement Coordinator Neals help, brought in new soil and planted a selection of colourful flowering plants. Ali has lived at the complex for nine years and in that time has transformed his own garden into a small paradise. He said that having attractive gardens helped to make everyone there feel good about their home. Neal said the tenants, who are all seniors, had a clear idea of what they wanted to achieve and it was good to be able to facilitate the project that has brought them closer together as a community.
14.01.2022 Over 3100 people in WA call a Foundation Housing property home. But we know many more homes are needed. Thats why this Homelessness Week were supporting Shelter WAs call for more social and affordable housing for vulnerable Australians, particularly Aboriginal people who make up one quarter of all people seeking specialist homelessness services. #HW2020 #communityhousing
14.01.2022 The The Omalas Project Food Van is definitely one of the highlights of the week for the Hampton Road residents. Smiles all round! Thank you to The Omalas Project and everyone who donates food and their time to make this happen.
13.01.2022 Kindness in action. Today we received 300 facemasks donated to us by the Perth branch of the Tzu Chi Australia Foundation - Buddist Compassion Relief. They have come at a good time with our own stock of masks starting to run low. Our frontline staff will be able to use the masks when they resume face to face visits with our tenants, ensuring we all keep safe. Thank you so much to Dr Lydia See and all at Tzu Chi Perth Our IT guru Dave was on hand to take delivery of the masks all the while keeping 1.5m away!

Delivered by AnglicareWA on behalf of the Financial Counselling Network and supported by the Department of Communities and WACOSS, this service provides a simple and accessible phone-based entry point for people to locate their local emergency and food relief providers
12.01.2022 We finally managed to lock in a date for a Christmas get together for some of our Subiaco tenants and the weather gods turned it on for everyone A local park provided a great accessible venue for residents, staff and agencies to come together before the end of the year. Great work Sarah and the team for organising lunch and making sure everyone had a great time
12.01.2022 Even with most staff working remotely, we still managed a small but lovely morning tea and farewell to Michelle, our departing GM of People & Culture. Everyone else was there in spirit! Good luck with your artistic pursuits Michelle
11.01.2022 Wishing all our tenants, residents, staff, contractors and partners a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for everything you’ve done this year and a special thanks to our staff working today to make it special for our residents. 11.01.2022 Our offices are now closed and will re-open at 8.30am on Tuesday 6th April. We wish all our tenants and partners a safe and enjoyable Easter break
11.01.2022 Foundation Housing is proud to support Shelter WA’s call for more social housing in their Unlock Housing campaign. We know that a safe, secure and affordable home is the foundation that so many people in WA still need. Investment in social housing is critical to address homelessness and provide this stable basis for people to move forward in their lives.
10.01.2022 We were pleased to be part of this with Carers WA. See if you can spot our CEO in the video! Many of our tenants are carers and it’s important to raise awareness of their unpaid work and the huge contribution they make to our community. We hope it’s been a great Carers Week for everyone.
10.01.2022 It will be a different kind of ANZAC Day this year. As we can't all get together for the traditional services, those who can and wish to are invited to stand at their driveways, or on their balconies at 6am on Saturday morning to pay their respect. Take a candle, or make your own lantern and tune in to the radio to observe The Ode, The Last Post and the Minute Silence. We would especially like to thank our tenants and residents, and their loved ones, who served their country.
09.01.2022 Heres something to brighten your day if COVID-19 restrictions are getting you down. Our dedicated Broome team who run our 55 room lodging house in Broome have sent us some photos they have taken in and around the Kimberley town. Our Broome lodging house provides much needed affordable and stable accommodation in the town where singles on low incomes can struggle to find somewhere suitable to live. Over the past few weeks weve been very grateful for the support of Centrecare Kimberley who work with our Broome residents to help them to manage their accommodation and have even arranged for pre-prepared meals to be delivered for those residents who are self-isolating.
09.01.2022 Good things keep happening at our Hampton Road Lodge. Yesterday residents were treated to a delivery of freshly made, still warm spaghetti Bolognese along with decorated muffins for dessert. The food was donated by Jeffery who has been taking part in a cooking course run by the Empyrean Education Institute who use our commercial kitchen at Hampton Road for their classes. Jeffrey, pictured on the left, said he felt he wanted to do something to benefit residents after coming... to the lodge for his classes several times a week, so he and his landlord cooked up two trays of spaghetti Bolognese and Jeffrey purchased a large box of decorated muffins and brought them to Hampton Road just in time for lunch. Staff member Sally-Anne decided to host an impromptu lunch then and there on the balcony and she even roped Jeffrey into serving up, which he loved! #communityhousing #foundationhousing #communityhousingwa #communityengagement #Fremantle #100HamptonRd See more
09.01.2022 It was smiles all round when OzHarvest made its first delivery to our Mount Lawley Lodging House last week. Caretaker Troy was on hand to help distribute fresh fruit, vegies and baked goods to the residents there. OzHarvest has been delivering food to our Fremantle Lodge for over two years, making a huge difference to the wellbeing of the people who live there. Were both grateful and excited theyve recently been able to expand this service to some of our lodges in the Perth metro area.
08.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be We were very proud to today unveil a mural at our Bennett St complex, painted by local Indigenous artist Seantelle. Art has been the theme for our NAIDOC activities with staff and residents this year and Seantelle left space on her mural for residents to add their own finger prints, making them a part of this beautiful story. ... #NAIDOC2020

06.01.2022 Even through most of our staff are still working remotely, we didn't let that stop us from getting together to eat cake - all for a good cause though. Our staff raised $250 for the Cancer Council by holding an Australia's Biggest Morning Tea event via Zoom. We had team members joining in from Broome down to Freo. It was great to take a break and share some time together over coffee and cake. #biggestmorningtea

04.01.2022 Thanks to the Janissen Electrics crew for their BBQ cooking expertise and for always wanting to give something back to Foundation Housing’s residents. 01.01.2022 We did various things with our staff this week as part of Mental Health Week but this visit from Ted the Cavoodle might have had the most beneficial impact of all. Ted rested alongside the Property Services Team while they worked through their 165 maintenance jobs for the week. A lovely way to end the week for Ted and the Leederville staff. Not sure we can make a habit of it though with all the attention he got ... #mentalhealthawareness #cavoodlepuppy
