22.01.2022 A happy outcome recently for puppy Coco. Fourlimb's vet Dr Sebastian and Dr Raj from Atwell-Aubin Grove Vet used the VetKISS microplating system which was perfect for this tiny patient's fractured tibia. Coco had a smooth recovery and was swiftly back to her playful self. View the VetKISS range https://www.fourlimb.com.au/internal-fixation/?cn=514&rf=cn

19.01.2022 In an Australian first, an endoscopy capsule has been used in a cheetah at Sydney Zoo. ALICAM is a diagnostic imaging capsule most commonlyused to investigate gastrointestinal problems in dogs. However, we were pleased to supply thedevice to the zoo recently to assist the treatment of this unusual candidate's ongoing GI issues. After learning about ALICAM on a recent @thevetvault podcast, a @thesydneyzoo veterinarian contacted us in the hope that ALICAM might shed some ligh...t on cheetah Obi's condition. The 3 year old male has had ongoing regurgitation and experienced difficulty gaining weight over the past 12 months. Last week Obi was anaesthetised, the capsule was administered and the cheetah remained in hisden area until the ALICAM could be retrieved from his faeces. Once administered, thecapsule captures high resolution 360-degree diagnostic images of the gastrointestinal tract and allows for accurate diagnosis of GI disease. Obi'scapsule was returned to our office where the data was processed and forwarded to a board certified internal medicine specialist who compiled a detailedreport of the ALICAM findings. In the cheetah's case, a narrowing of the oesophagus was observed as well as an irregular area of mucosa at the junction between the oesophagus and the stomach. Several areas of gastric mucosa were also identified as irregular with a cobblestone appearance. Multiple hariballs were observed, possibly as a result of Obi's love of grooming theZoo's other cheetah as well as himself! Obi is currently undergoing treatment based on the report's clinical recommendations and we are looking forward to hearing updates on his progress. ALICAM is most commonly used in dogs over 5kg without a need for sedation ... although obviously in Obi's case anaesthesia was essential! If you have a GI case you would like resolved, ALICAM works quickly, is easily administered and requires no restriction of movement for the animal.

16.01.2022 Finally, our first exhibition since March! A further easing of COVID-19 restrictions in WA meant we were able to exhibit at the AVA WA conference on Saturday. Speakers covered a number of "Hot Topics" including orthopaedics, imaging and opthalmology. Thanks to @ava.wa for organising the event (with all its COVID considerations) and enabling us to reconnect with vets over the weekend
