24.01.2022 Lyra desperately needs a new home! She would suit a home on a property or large block. This beautiful girl is a Kelpie x and approx 2yrs old. She is very sweet, loving and playful ... She is an amazing little girl, she just needs more space than where she was. Lyra loves to be around people, she's dog, cat and kid friendly. She hasn't yet learnt to walk on a lead, she will need some help with this, but she will listen and follow commands. She doesn't jump or dig out, and even out camping she won't leave your side. She is a high energy dog and will need a family that can keep up with her. If you are interested in meeting Lyra, please contact us today. Adoption fee is $280 and includes all vet work, desexing, vaccinations, microchipping and worming. BIN0006896830675

22.01.2022 Ain't that the truth!
22.01.2022 The Four Paws team were called out yesterday to save these lost little babies and we will now be feeding around the clock to help them grow big and strong. We don't know if they were dumped or were homeless and something has happened to the mum. Luckily some good samaritans gave us a call. With no mum in sight they wouldn't have survived long on their own. They are barely 3 weeks old. ... Another reminder on the importance of being a responsible pet owner and desexing your pet. Four Paws offers a desexing subsidy for people with a pension card. Contact us today if you'd like to apply.

20.01.2022 Benny has heartworm and needs treatment. Benny recently came into our care at Four Paws, and when he was at the vets to be desexed and vaccinated, he tested positive for life threatening heartworm. We believe Benny deserved the chance at a happy and long life, but heartworm treatment is expensive so we are reaching out to our supporters and animal lovers for financial assistance. Please donate whatever you can, your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a little or a lot. Anything helps. Thank you for your support.

18.01.2022 TUESDAY TIPS: The weather here in Yeppoon is so hot and humid in the summer months. Here are some simple tips to keep your pets cool and prevent heat stroke. Provide your pets with a cool, shaded area with good ventilation at all times adequate ventilation and air flow are important as many animals cool down via panting as they are unable to sweat. ... Make sure they have plenty of clean fresh water and extra water sources in case of spillage. Bring your pets indoors on hot, humid days if the indoor environment is cooler for the animal (e.g. air-conditioning, child-safe fans, open windows where possible. Exercise your pets early in the morning or in the evening when the weather is cooler. Avoid the hottest part of the day and avoid walking on hot sand, concrete, asphalt areas where heat is reflected and there is no access to shade

07.01.2022 Did you know we wouldn't be able to save any animals without foster carers? We do not operate out of a shelter, we rely solely on volunteers and foster carers to care for our animals while we attend to their medical needs and find them a new home. These are the top 8 reasons you should foster a Cat. 1. Fostering provides kittens a safe and healthy environment to grow. ... With weaker immune systems, kittens are more prone to getting sick in shelter settings where they are exposed to various animals. Kittens under eight weeks oldwho cannot survive on their own without continuous careare especially vulnerable. 2. Cats living in a home receive more attention, which helps relieve their stress. Studies show that increases in socialization and play time are good for kittens’ mental and physical health, which also increases their chances for eventual adoption. 3. Fostered kittens are likely to be better sensitized to the world they’ll face when adopted. Spending time with people, children and other domestic dynamics in a temporary home enables catsespecially kittensto become comfortable with similar stimuli in a permanent home. 4. Fostering helps prevent the births of more unwanted homeless cats. In addition to being safely indoors, fostered kittens are desexed, which helps control cat populations and save more lives. 5. Fostering cats creates space in shelters or pounds for other animals in need. Whether a shelter is crowded or not, each cat and kitten in their care requires time and resources that could be conserved if those animals were in foster homes. 6. Fostering introduces cats and kittens to new pools of prospective adopters. Fostered cats and kittens benefit from exposure to the caregiver’s friends and family, and the caregiver can offer trusted and enthusiastic assessments of the cat’s personality and needs. At their best, foster caregivers are their cats’ parent and publicist 7.They learn what love is. Sadly, there's a good chance your foster cat has never had a loving home. You have the power to transform a nervous, shy cat into a confident, loving companion just by showing them what it means to be loved! 8. You might just find your new best friend. You might not know it or expect it, but by bringing in a foster, you may find that they were in their forever home all along.
