24.01.2022 Australian pollinator week is coming up. Who wants to join me for a pollinator count or two? Each count is only 10 minutes. We could try monitoring some of the things the Friends group has planted.

21.01.2022 Join us for Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday 7 March! We will be cleaning up along Long Forest Road. Please register online for the site at 'Long Forest Rd'. Search for postcode 3340 to view local sites. https://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/join-a-clean-up... All members and residents are welcome. Meet at the bus shelter on Sundew Avenue at 9.15am for sign in and to collect bags. We can all make a difference to our local area by joining in the clean up. Hope to see you there! #CleanUpAustralia #StepUpToCleanUp #longforest #fowglfm

21.01.2022 Thanks to those able to make it to our Clean Up Australia event today along Long Forest Road. A small, hard working group collected 28 bags of rubbish and recycling. Most unusual item collected was an automotive gas cylinder. Thanks to the Moorabool Shire Council for a voucher to purchase food for a lovely morning tea and for collecting the rubbish bags. Well done everyone! #fowglfm #longforest #CleanUpAustralia #StepUpToCleanUp

19.01.2022 Thanks to all the hard-working Friends who spent a lovely day in the sunshine at Long Forest today, cleaning up old tree guards and stakes. It’s great to see how our restoration projects are coming along. We were happy to catch up with some old Friends and also to make some new ones. Save the date for our next project day on Saturday 17 April for a clean up in the north-west block at Long Forest. #fowglfm #longforest #volunteeringvic #parkconnect

19.01.2022 Some more wonderful platypus videos from Ranger Mike Frislie.

18.01.2022 Now this is a sight you don't get to see every day... a mob of kangaroos crossing a river! This special scene was captured during a morning kayak at Murrah, NSW. : Deborah Gillies

11.01.2022 Our next project day is tomorrow, Saturday 17th October. We will be removing old tree guards and cleaning up where needed in the northern section of Long Forest. Please register your attendance on ParkConnect (https://www.parkconnect.vic.gov.au/). Meet at the gate to Quarry Haul Road off Diggers Rest/Coimadai Road at 9:30am. Bring your lunch, drinks, a hat and raincoat and wear sturdy shoes. Please also bring your own gloves and remember your face mask. We will follow our CO...VID-Safe procedures and keep our working groups to 10 people maximum. Sadly, those who live in the Melbourne metro areas are unable to attend. Stay safe everyone and we will see you all soon. (Fingers crossed for our November prick-out day!)

06.01.2022 Parks Victoria have just released their Summer Series 2020.

05.01.2022 So exciting! A platypus sighting by PV Ranger Mike Frislie at one of our parks.

02.01.2022 Today we removed old tree guards and stakes from previous plantings in the north-west block at Long Forest. It was a rewarding effort for our small team of Friends. The area has been an exercise in patience and persistence with numerous plantings finally resulting in established trees and shrubs. A big thank you to Parks Victoria Ranger Alex who joined us for the tidy-up. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day.... #fowglfm #longforest #parksvictoria #volunteering #moorabool #friendsgroup
