Improved cognitive function and proprioception ... Due to severe head trauma received early last year, training @melissathewong has been a tedious process. Dynamic movement has been all but off the table as her cognitive functions would decline rapidly resulting in dizziness and a loss of balance. The changes seen here have been brought about entirely by the application of @functionalpatterns correctives (IMAPS) and myofascial release. Training in relation to our biomechanical blueprint targets all systems of the body, including the vestibular system so it’s no surprise to see an improvement in her balance and coordination as we start to ramp up her dynamic movement. It’s been a tough slog getting her to this stage but we have laid some solid foundations and now we can look to really build on that and have her running efficiently and pain free. Her issues ranged from pain in her lower left side of back and hip, left quad soreness, neck pain from the sling worn for 7 weeks straight as a result of a left shoulder surgery that was in chronic pain pre and post surgery all on top of a very compressed structure. 04.01.2022 Our @fp_brisbane practitioner @fp_shane **RESULTS** Nov 2019 > Apr 2020 @Rebecca.randazzo came to @fp_brisbane with a laundry list of past injuries, including 7 right knee surgeries (inc ACL, bone on bone now), left shoulder + bicep tendon reconstruction, fractured left elbow, Spondylolisthesis L4-5, upper back disc issues, plantar fascia ruptures of both feet, she’s also had two kids via emergency C-section. She couldn’t run at all without debilitating foot pain during a...nd after and her left lower back would flare up too. It’s fair to say she’s been through the meat grinder. She’s tough, that’s for sure but it’s a testament to the resiliency of the human body to take such a beating and still somewhat function. I have always followed traditional approaches to my training and movement patterns. My injury management has also been status quo. I’ve had approx 20 FP sessions with Shane which has been a combination of release work and movement pattern training. I have not run for over 21 years and was forced to retire due to major ruptures of my plantar fascia in both feet. Two surgeons wouldn’t operate on me and one gave me a 5% chance of recovery post surgery. I recall the Morning I woke after training and couldn’t walk to the toilet due to the pain in my feet. I was prescribed orthotics to manage my foot pain. I am far from achieving my goals, but I have been able to return to short interval running/walking sessions a few times per week, and feel more connected when I move. I am not using my orthotics anymore. I’ve also seen a decrease in lower back pain when doing my other activities.
