24.01.2022 Squadron Energy (Tattarang - Twiggy Forrest) is in an exploration joint venture with Goshawk Energy across massive areas of the Canning Basin. Goshawk has just announced a survey program to pinpoint a drilling location in search of the Helvetica oil prospect on EP499. Meanwhile back on the Squadron Energy website under 'Our Climate Policy' Squadron states 'We won’t invest in coal, oil sands, or crude oil, or in any developments in sensitive marine environments.' We urge you Squadron Energy to do as you state and withdraw your part in any investment or exploration for crude oil! https://www.squadronenergy.com/our-business/

24.01.2022 The Kimberley is under fire from fracking and we need everyone on board. Texan frackers have arrived and have put a plan to drill and frack 6 wells in the Fitzroy River catchment to the EPA. We need the EPA to have the highest level of assessment for this proposal - please SIGN at the link and SHARE https://www.environskimberley.org.au/texan_frackers

23.01.2022 The unviable US fracking industry is falling apart. Beware of the false promises, the cover ups and the legacy that this industry leaves in its tracks.

21.01.2022 Let Premier McGowan know that he can't let Texan frackers into the Kimberley. Join the action!

19.01.2022 Australia’s first major 2020 #schoolstrike4climate in Broome this Sunday 20 Sep. Join our students to send a message that #fracking is wrong and not acceptable in #theKimberley nor anywhere else. We have to reduce emission not open up new oil and gas fracking fields across the #Kimberley Prime Minister Morrison - don’t fund fossil fuels and burn our future! @mark_mcgowan_mp We know you don’t want it, it’s not a necessary evil. Clean energy technology is here, let’s leave a #planet we can be proud of for our kids and future generations. #lovebroome #lovethekimberley #banfracking #fundourfuturenotgas

18.01.2022 Serious concerns from Traditional Owners about fracking - the McGowan government has a lot to answer for in opening up the Kimberley to this polluting industry.

17.01.2022 Don't frack the Kimberley !

17.01.2022 The Australian Government has announced plans to hand over millions of taxpayer dollars to the gas industry for big new fracking gas pipelines and gas infrastructure, including in WA! The Kimberley wasn't included in this announcement but we know the West-East pipeline is still being mooted and the companies are still lobbying for the inclusion of Canning Basin fracked gas. Follow this link to see what you can do! http://www.frackfreewa.org.au/stop_wa_gas_attack

17.01.2022 What a powerful message to Premier Mark McGowan in Broome at Australia’s first major School Strike for Climate action for 2020. Frack Free Kimberley! The message to Prime Minister Scott Morrison ‘Fund our future not gas’ was also loud from the students. Great work everyone. 16.01.2022 A Climate Analytics report shows exploitation of the Canning Basin petroleum resources would amount to more than double the whole of Australia's carbon budget under the Paris Agreement which Australia is a signatory of. 16.01.2022 Thanks, Micklo for standing up for country and spreading the 'Don't frack the Kimberley' message at yesterday's Shinju Parade in Broome. Great to see huge support from all the people along the streets of Broome. Sign the petition here: https://www.environskimberley.org.au/ban_fracking

15.01.2022 Yesterday afternoon 45 community members came together, socially distanced, for a snap action at Town Beach in Broome. They gathered to welcome the Premier to Broome (who is in Broome today) and as we commend him on his renewable plans we are extremely concerned that experienced frackers from Texas have arrived in the Kimberley and have been welcomed with open arms by his government. Black Mountain is pushing for a West-East gas pipeline which would be a nightmare scenario f...or the Kimberley. It would open up the region's scenic landscapes to huge oil and gas fields and threaten ground and surface water in the Fitzroy River catchment. Two companies, Buru Energy and Theia Energy have already publicly flagged they have equivalent resources to areas in the US and Canada that have over 30,000 oil and gas fracking wells. The Premier is going to be responsible for opening up the Kimberley to fracking and leaving a legacy of polluted wells across this world-famous landscape. The overwhelming public sentiment is that fracking should not be allowed in the Kimberley. We’re calling on Premier Mark McGowan to ban fracking in the Kimberley. Sign the petition here and let's continue to pressure the government. More actions are planned both here and in Perth in the near future. https://www.environskimberley.org.au/ban_fracking

12.01.2022 The Kimberley is a natural gem that should never be fracked. Thanks to our supporters in Perth taking a stand outside Dumas House (Premier and Minister's offices) last Friday. 08.01.2022 Make no mistake. A pipeline through the Kimberley would open up the Canning Basin to thousands of fracking wells. The companies with leases in the Canning compare the formations within the basin to North American formations where 10's of thousands of wells exist. And now the Texans are here proposing just that. Sign the petition now: https://www.environskimberley.org.au/ban_fracking or write directly to the Premier Mark Mcgowan and let him know fracking is not and never will ...be acceptable in the Kimberley. Attention Mark McGowan Address: 5th Floor, Dumas House 2 Havelock Street WEST PERTH WA 6005 Telephone: (08) 6552-5000 Fax: (08) 6552-5001 e-Mail: [email protected] Image source: Black Mountain Exploration

08.01.2022 Is the Dampier Peninsula really safe from fracking? Only for now. The ban on the Dampier Peninsula has not been implemented through legislation. If we were to get a change of government or if the... present government changed tack, this ban could be overturned. The WA Premier Mark McGowan has already broken his promise to consult the community, including Native Title holders, before setting the Dampier Peninsula fracking ban boundary. So we need to beware and continue the push to ban fracking permanently in Western Australia. Tell your neighbours and encourage your networks and friends to sign the petition against fracking on our website. Let’s make the government listen and protect the Kimberley from fracking. www.environskimberley.org.au/ban_fracking See more

07.01.2022 The WA Government has approved an airborne survey over the Fitzroy River to look for oil and gas. This area includes Jubilee and Quanbun pastoral leases and the culturally important Alexander Island. There should be no fracking in the Kimberley and no oil and gas in the Fitzroy River floodplains and beyond. SIGN the petition here https://www.environskimberley.org.au/ban_fracking

07.01.2022 Premier McGowan don't let the Texans frack the Kimberley! Great to have support at the seat of Government today with a protest at Dumas House. SIGN the petition here and SHARE! https://www.environskimberley.org.au/ban_fracking

06.01.2022 Theia Energy want to frack for shale oil in the Kimberley. They are comparing the area to the Eagle Ford shale in the US which currently has 22,000 oil and gas wells. What would the Kimberley look like with 22,000 oil and gas fracking wells? Pollution from fracking chemicals, radioactive materials, flaring would transform the Kimberley into an industrialised landscape.

04.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS: Plans by multinational gas company Black Mountain Energy to frack our iconic and beautiful Kimberley will put the region’s lucrative tourism industry, its unique environment, and locals’ way of life in danger. Black Mountain Energy also clearly doesn't understand the realities of operating in the Kimberley, having mooted an economically unviable and heavily criticised west-east gas pipeline as part of its planned operation. This company clearly wants to push t...heir fracking agenda regardless of economic and legal realities, and WA politicians and locals should be extremely wary. 03.01.2022 Join our supporters of a frack free WA in Perth tomorrow. Events will be held regularly until fracking is no longer on the agenda and our government makes a serious commitment to climate policy. Anti-fracking leafleting session is on outside Wesley Church in the CBD TOMORROW, Friday, 11 September from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. Just come along and join us even if just for a while. It's fun and impactful especially if there are more of us present.... See you there!

03.01.2022 Fracking is a huge risk to water. This project would be a disaster for the climate and would turn the southern Kimberley into an industrialised landscape, massive landclearing, pipelines across country, flaring and processing facilities. Pipelines to Broome and Bidyadanga in the plan shown in the article would mean turning the ports into oil export facilities. 100,000 barrels a day would mean oil tankers constantly in and out which is a pollution risk to our coast and marine life.

02.01.2022 Fantastic to see such an inspirational young person standing up for country and the climate. https://www.sbs.com.au//the-young-indigenous-woman-fightin
