22.01.2022 NEW ARRIVAL - @fletcherwines Acobia Bitters - 100cl Alongside his Piedmont releases (Langhe Chardonnay and Barbera d’Asti) David released his own bitters this year. Acobia was started with a quality base wine, certified organic Arneis in fact. So the Acobia is a Small Batch Bitter. It is composed of 13 herbs and fruits, that are infused into an organic base wine. It's quite unusual for a bitter to contain wine, but what it does is give more florals to the nose and length to... the palate. It's almost impossible to describe all the individual things you taste in the Bitter because it's a complex mesh of so many. You'll definitely get citrus and cherry, but there are also herbs that meld secretly into the nose and push onto the palate, finishing with a bitter that lies somewhere between Aperol and Campari.... @fletcherwines TRADE - We have stocks available for NSW and QLD customers, feel free to get in touch for tastings or orders. #bitters #arneis #negroni #davidfletcher #francaboutwine

20.01.2022 INSIGHT ON PINOT GRIS - NO FILTER APPLIED After a recent training with staff on Pinot Gris I saw this post from @prophetsrock and thought it worth sharing. The colour of these Pinot Gris grapes from their Rocky Point vineyard in Bendigo Central Otago are just stunning, a reminder of the colour this variety can produce on its skins. @paulpujol, winemaker and owner of @prophetsrock has been a long time ambassador for Alsatian varieties and techniques after his stint in Alsace.... Both his Riesling and Gris are fermented exclusively in old oak and bottled only just prior to the next vintage, allowing them sufficient time on lees to create texture, something the Alsatian winemakers insisted to Paul was one of the keys to success with these varietals.

16.01.2022 This is Dominic Coulton, NSW wine sales @vinocidal4life who’s time outside @francaboutwine is often spent on stage as part of @gasparsanzband. COVID of course hasn’t just effected our industry. It’s meant for so many of us that our passions outside wine have also been put on hold. I’m grateful that through the support of our trade partners that all the Francaboutwine sales team are still at work and for their commitment during the past months. Fingers crossed Dom can get back on that bass and drinking Chablis on stage soon. #rockstar #francaboutwine

15.01.2022 That last bottle from the cellar sold feeling...both sad and happy. I know there are some sommeliers and shop keepers who have share these mixed emotions about selling the last bottle? This is Clos Saouma Le petit livre d’A.M. Bach Chateauneuf du Pape 2009, only ever made in Magnums, getting sent out today to a new home, hopefully a glass one The uniqueness of this wine not only that it’s 100% free run Grenache from Pignan but that it ages without sulphur on full lees fo...r 5 years before bottling, just one barrel made, only ever bottled in Magnum. I opened one earlier this year with the team @francaboutwine and it was so special, still so young and supports Rotem and Mounier’s notion that you don’t need pressings necessary to ensure you have the structure to age. We have available a few special magnums from Clos Saouma including Arioso Blanc in Magnum, one of the most inspiring white wines I’ve ever tasted. #clossaouma #pignan #châteauneufdupape #fridaywine

15.01.2022 Chablis" Pet Nat - 821 by Margaux Laroche 2018 - Now back in stock! Hang on a second..Pet Nat from Chablis? Yes!! This is the second release of this wine from Margaux Laroche, the daughter of legendary Chablis producer Michele Laroche this Pet Nat or Method Ancestral is from 100% chardonnay, hand picked from 35yr old vines within Chablis. This style cannot technically be labeled Chablis so Margaux named it 821, which is the number of days from flowering to leaving the cel...lar. Fermented with indigenous yeast from a pied de cuve the fermentation starts in stainless steel then finished in bottle ancestral method. Gorgeous bright lean chardonnay characters underline this fresh and clean sparkling. With zero dosage it’s dry with plenty of stone fruit with a juicy lemon and edgy mineral finish. #doyouevenchablis #francaboutwine #chabliswine #domainedHenri #sydneywinelovers #sommlife #sommelier

12.01.2022 NEW RELEASES - TEXTURAL WHITES FROM @yellandandpapps UNFILTERED ‘DIRTY’ ROUSSANNE + EXTENDED SKIN CONTACT VERMENTINO "Vermentino with 250 days on skins & unfiltered Roussanne should do the trick! Both of these wines push the envelope while never losing sight of the main objective: deliciousness. So often do styles like these feature a menagerie of faults, a cornucopia of defects leaving the drinker confused and so often dissatisfied. Yelland & Papps have long been ahead of ...the pack with their Second Take range, using contemporary wine-making techniques combined with a deep understanding of wine-making and the highest quality fruit to create wines that are both unique to the region but a credit to the style" - Dominic - Francaboutwine 2020 SECOND TAKE ‘DIRTY’ ROUSSANNE Small crop in 2020, just 1.8 tonnes crushed (1000 ltrs bottled). Sourced from 2 vineyards, same grower, 20 year old vines. Two pickings, one early and one later to balance freshness and fruit weight. Hand picked, destemmed, crushed and pressed off, some with all the lees to 2 year old barrels and the rest racked and fermented in old oak. Using rollers they regularly turn/rotate the barrels for lees contact/stirring for 8 to 10 months. Bottled unfined and unflitered. Occasional punch downs over the this time. Wine went through both primary and malolactic fermentations. 08.01.2022 The "I wish I had this in a blind tasting for Gamay wine NEW ARRIVAL - GAMAY - UVA NON GRATA - FRANCE - 2019 2019 is the second vintage we have imported of this superb Vin de France Gamay from North West of Lyon. Unashamedly accessible both in terms of style and price, it’s light, fragrant, juicy and frankly a bit of fun. ... Uva Non Grata (Latin for ‘ungrateful grapes’) refers to the historical downgrading of Gamay while Pinot Noir became the ascendant of the two grapes in Burgundy. Gamay loves the granite/siliceous soils of the vineyards in the hills to the north west of Lyon in Eastern France. The grapes were hand picked deliberately early to maintain freshness. In the cellar, grapes are vinified using traditional carbonic maceration techniques followed by a short cuvasion to keep the upfront, juicy fruit characters in this lighter style of wine. #gamay #vindefrance #francaboutwine

08.01.2022 NEW RELEASE | Ludovic Engelvin | Artisan producer from the Gard | France Passionate ‘NO SYRAH’ boutique producer, specialising in Grenache. Wines available:... Gard Rouge Cru-Elles 2018 - Cinsault Grenache Gard Rouge Clos Serre-Cabanis 2016 - 50% Mourvedre, 50% Grenache Ludovic grew up in the region so he said it was only natural for him to make his first wines from his home. His first vintage under his own label was in 2013 made in a small cellar in Vic-le-Fesq. My initial confusion with understanding his wines was all the different classifications. Some have Vin de France, some Vin du Pay Gard and he tells me earlier vintages were labelled AOC Coteaux aux Languedoc. As I try to understand he explains I had a disagreement with the appellation. This is due to his passion for NO SYRAH in my wines and at the time this was a legal requirement for the AOC, so from that point on he has de-classified. If I said the wines were ‘natural’ it would perhaps be questioned by the extremists of this genre as he uses sulphur at bottling but the rest of his philosophy is a-tuned to low impact farming and minimal intervention in the winery. He’s a close friend of Didier Barral (Domaine Leon Barral) who has been a mentor in this style of approach. Ludovic is one of the few rising stars keen to showcase this region can produce superb wines alongside domaine’s such as Roc d’Anglade. Known as the Languedoc Gardois It sits on the NW border of the Costieres de Nimes AOP in the South West extremity of the Rhone Valley which was formerly part of the Gard but promoted to it’s own appellation in 1989. Note the Vin du Pays Gard is under the Languedoc department. Soil is a mixture of Sandstone, Carlcare amongst the classic garrigue of this region. He owns the Clos Serres Cru of 3 hectares, some of which as planted in 1950, the rest at least 30 years old. The rest of the wines are made from sourcing fruit from low yielding (25 to 30 hects) vines owned by growers. Ludovic tells me he farms organically but doesn’t want the certification. #francaboutwine #wineproducer #sommsoftheworld #wineenthusiast #grenache

07.01.2022 NEW RELEASE - @stargazerwine Tupelo Pinot Gris blend 2020 - Coal River Valley - Tasmania This new vintage follows the ‘breakthrough’ vintage of 2019 which was reviewed by #jameshalliday last year as his #1 ‘other white’. A tip of the hat to the ‘Gentil’ blends of Alsace this wine is a blend of 57% Pinot Gris, 34% Riesling & 10% Gewurztaminer. Fruit all sourced from the Coal River Valley, handpicked, left on skins for 8 hours then pressed off and co-fermented in seasoned barr...els, with a touch of extra Riesling blended in pre bottling. NSW TRADE - If you are looking for a new ‘textural’ white to add in to your offering please let us know, we’d be happy to show you this wonderful new release. #tasmania #stargazer #pinotgris #riesling #gewurztraminer #francaboutwine #Australianwines #tasmanianwine

06.01.2022 NEW RELEASE - FRANÇOIS MILLET ET FILS - CHAMBOLLE The inaugural vintage from one of Burgundy’s most respected winemakers. @francoismilletetfils TRADE - If you are interested please get in contact as the qtys are very small and we will be attempting to allocate as fairly as possible. ... Francois Millet has been the chief winemaker at Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé in Chambolle-Musigny since 1986 and continues this role to date, the custodian of some of the most prized vineyards in Burgundy. I had the pleasure of meeting Francois at his family home a few years ago, brought about through the wine he makes with Paul Pujol of @prophetsrock in Bendigo, Central Otago whom we also have the honour of importing. Whilst gratefully tasting through the 2015’s of Comte Georges de Vogüé with Francois and Michelle (accompanied by the largest piece of Comte cheese I’d ever seen) I mischievously asked if he knew anyone from Chambolle who might want to work with Francaboutwine in Australia. With a typically wry smile from Francois he informed me that he had started his own Domaine with his sons and planned to bottle his first wines in 2017. After a return visit in 2019 to taste the 2017’s in bottle and 2018 in barrel we are honoured to be able to import these wines, this being the inaugural vintage release. Francois Millet et Fils was established in 2016 albeit due to the terrible frosts in that vintage they had to wait to start their first wines in 2017. Francois, Michelle (his wife) & their two sons are all part of the business. Julien works at Domaine Antonin Guyon - Savigny le Beaune in the cellar & Adrien works in the vineyard at Domaine Christophe Roumier in Chambolle. The house they live in belonged to a vigneron and is in Chambolle, overlooking the vineyards of the 1er Cru of ‘Les Feusselottes’. They added to the original cellar below the house by converting the garage and this is now the home of Francois Millet et Fils. @ Chambolle-Musigny

05.01.2022 #doyouevenchablis week continues with the superb @ledomaine_dhenri Terriors Chablis Village 2018, now available. TRADE - This superb bottling is most definitely in premium pouring range if you are looking for a new Village Chablis by glass. Sources from village vineyards in ...Fleys, Beine and Maligny, average vine age of 35 years. Organically farmed with the certification in process. 05.01.2022 NEW RELEASES | @yellandandpapps | SECOND TAKE Orange Vermentino Wild fermented on skins for 313 days Old Vine Whole-bunch Grenache (80 years old average vine age)... Shiraz Whole-bunch fermented inside seasoned French Puncheons FEATURED WINE SECOND TAKE ORANGE VERMENTINO 2019 One of the great aspects of Vermentino is it's thin skin, at least in context to this wine Michael Papps reminds us on release of this latest vintage. 313 days on skins and yet the wine is both aromatic and elegant, enough tannin to remind you it's an orange/skin contact wine but without making it the centre of the experience. Destemmed, then crushed and left to ferment on skins. Lid goes on then left for 313 days, no sulphur required. Pressed off then wild ferment in tank. racked off to bottle, touch of sulphur, unfined and unfiltered. "If you enjoy white wines that offer textural elements on the palate then you've come to the right place. This is a white for red drinkers with a whole lot to challenge. It was wild fermented, spent 313 days on skins, is basket pressed, and is unfiltered and unfined. So it ticks a whole lot of hipster boxes. It is also vegan friendly, but most importantly it is a terrific drink. It's all about the structure with a terse nod to sherry, nuttiness and complexity. Different, but delicious" @winsordobbin #yellandandpapps #orangewine #grenache #shiraz #vermentino #barossa #francaboutwine

04.01.2022 NEW RELEASES from Laura and Brendan Carter of @unicozelo This week sees the arrival of a parcel from Unico Zelo’s Untamed range, in this case their single vineyard expressions of Fiano and Nero d’Avola from Riverland & Adelaide Hills. 2020 Alluvium Fiano, 2020 Riversand Fiano, 2020 Halcyon Days Nero d’Avola + Pipe Dream Nero d’Avola. ... In addition after recently attending the women in wine event @bibowinebar it would be amiss of me not to highlight that Laura Carter @barrel_bug heads up the winemaking operation @Unicozelo and we continue to be both grateful + proud of her hard work and dedication to these wines. NSW + VIC TRADE - 2020 was a small harvest so we have under 50 cases of each wine so please let us know if you are interested to taste/order. #womeninwine #fiano #nerodavola #riverland #adelaidehills #unicozelo #francaboutwine #somm #sydneywinelovers #melbournewinelovers

04.01.2022 NEW WINE - PIEDMONTE BARBERA - ARALDICA - ITALY Simply put this is one of the best value reds in our imported portfolio, hands down. A Barbera from Piedmont DOC, unwooded and frankly can be chilled a little if that’s your fancy. ... "Light tannin, acidity is the key feature of this wine. Could even be 14 degrees/Chardonnay temperature when enjoyed or in fact served slightly chilled. Very light, really enjoyable style. No wholebunch/carbonic notes. If someone likes a light, zippy style Red its perfect. Frankly it’s absoutely superb value for the price - Neil - Francaboutwine Araldica is a co-operative founded in 1954 and specialises in wines from Piedmont, including Monferrato, Gavi and Roero. Produced from Barbera grapes cultivated in vineyards in the Monferrato hills in the South of the province of Asti. 04.01.2022 NSW + VIC TRADE TONIC V19 release now available Request a tasting pack or review-in-person with your FAW salesperson... Featured Wine - @tonicwines Tonic Grenache 2019 95 Points - It’s maybe the best Tonic Grenache I’ve tasted - @thewinefront Vineyard In 2019 Glenn returned to two fantastic old vine sources: The Churinga Vineyard in Watervale and from the Humphries Vineyard in Sevenhill. But due to the drought of 2019 and a lack of fruit this meant seeking out a new vineyard. This came in the shape of a 50 year old vineyard in Blewitt Springs in Mclaren Vale, making this vintage a blend of two regions. The dry conditions of 2019 meant the bush vine Grenache favoured well during these hot conditions, albeit lower crop levels. Winemaking Hand-picked, 75% destemmed leaving the rest as whole bunches, the traditional ‘Tonic’ foot stomp and left on skins for over 30 days. Basket pressed into seasoned French barrels, left on full lees for 9 months, racking off in December then bottling in May 2020. No fining or filtration.

03.01.2022 NEW RELEASES - L.A.S Vino - Margaret River - 2019 vintage @l.a.s.vino Albino PNO, CBDB Chenin Blanc + featured wine - Wild Berry Springs Chardonnay 2019 ... A real step change in the winemaking technique in this wine for the 2019 albeit the same terrior. 30 year old vines, Gin Gin Chardonnay clone from Wildberry springs vineyard in Willyabrup. Hand picked, pressed to tank, settled overnight, racked off gross lees then the initial 2 to 3 grams of sugar of the fermentation started off in tank. Now the fun stuff. 70% of this year’s juice went exclusively in to Amphora. For those of you who want to delve deeper the Amphora’s are from an Italian producer called Clayver, smaller ‘pot eggs’ is perhaps the best description. 2 x 250ltr and 2 x 400ltr Amphora’s were used. They are not lined with beewax, so the juice is directly on clay/stone. Wild fermented, lees stirred, full malolactic. The remaining 30% of the blend was wild fermented in seasoned French barrique and one new Austrian barriques(Stockinger), full malolactic. The wine was left to mature for 11 months before bottling unfined and unfiltered - Neil Francaboutwine #lasvino #chardonnay #margaretriver #francaboutwine

03.01.2022 NEW RELEASES - GRANITE HILLS - MACEDON RANGES 2017 CHARDONNAY + PINOT NOIR 2018 RIESLING BLOCK 1971 2019 GAMAY NOIR... New to Granite Hills? > Producer of one of the great Rieslings of Australia from +50 year old vines planted in 1971 - best Riesling VIC wine show >Macedon's altitude/cold climate = no acidification required in any of their wines >Second oldest winery in Macedon, founded in 1970 >New Pinot Noir release from 2017, superb vintage in Victoria > Oldest Cabernet and Riesling vines in the region > Situated in the idllic ‘Goldie Locks’ section of Macedon with Cobar Ridge > A trail blazer of cool climate Pinot Noir, Riesling and Shiraz FEATURED WINE - 2018 RIESLING BLOCK 1971 The 1971 comprises of just the Eastern site. This is the original site Llews father Gordon put down in the early 70s, hence its name. Winemaking iS quite similar to the estate Riesling however the average vine age now is of course nearing 50 years. Predominate free run, some gentle pressings, no hard pressings. It’s key to Llew that there is a steady cool ferment, not too cold. Once again no residual and a PH of 3.0. No added acids like all their wines. The key for Llew is to showcase that natural sweetness. The eastern 1971 block of Riesling also has a very consistent acid structure. The balance of granite is also quite even in this section. The vines are at an age now where they can pierce through the granite with ease. Drainage is also slightly more idyllic as well in this section while also in the summer not capturing as much of the harsher afternoon sun as the gum trees in that section shield the 1971 vines Trent Francaboutwine @granitehillswinery #francaboutwine #riesling #macedonranges #oldvines
