25.01.2022 26 June 2020 at 11am - 12 pm COVID-19 has presented an extremely challenging environment for franchisees across Australia. The FCA has been working hard to support franchisees through information, support and resources. The FCA's Franchisee Advisory Committee has provided invaluable input to helping guide the direction of this support and engagement. If you're an FCA member franchisee, join us for this interactive panel discussion and update from the FCA. FCA CEO Mary Aldred ...will provide you with an update on FCA representation and support services, from commercial leasing, employment relations and business restrictions through to the FCA's pro bono legal assistance through COVID-19. Following that, hear from a panel of FCA franchisees, where you can ask questions and provide feedback. The panel will share their insights on key challenges and what they have learnt through the COVID-19 pandemic, how it has changed the way they do business and their priorities for the path ahead. https://www.thewebconsole.com//5058f1af8388633f/r/9947225

22.01.2022 Here are Three trends in leadership for the new year: 1. Seize opportunities and identify areas of growth. A new year promises to unveil new businesses. It's u...p to leaders to absorb all relevant data, discern potential underlying trends and then identify precisely how their business can exploit these new opportunities. This includes broadening their understanding of cultural differences and areas where new customer-acquisition opportunities present themselves. 2. Become more adept at employee management. Business leaders and CEO's aren't generally responsible for directly managing their workforce, but they are increasingly expected to understand how new generation of workers influence the organisation's direction. It's likely they will look for new opportunities to interact with their human resources executives to focus on more effective delegation of tasks and enhanced channels of communications 3. Understand where opportunity gaps exist. In the new year, leaders are expected to identify what workplace learning specialist DeakinCo. calls "gaps in opportunity". This involves recognising potential threats by competitors, as well as "broadening observations to find opportunities, exploring new frontiers and identifying timing and depth of opportunity" - a fancy way of describing a new approach to getting things done and meeting corporate goals..

19.01.2022 March 2020 Australian franchise survey shows COVID-19 impacts A national survey of franchise businesses shows significant reductions in March 2020 revenues as a result of COVID-19 trading restrictions and social isolation. The "Pulse Check" survey was undertaken by FRANdata for the Franchise Council of Australia to gain insights on the initial impacts and experiences of the Australian franchise sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. Representatives of 55 franchise systems cover...ing 11,037 individual franchised business outlets contributed to the survey. 30% of respondents indicated revenue falls of 25-50% on February figures and a further 28% indicated a 50-100% fall in monthly revenue. On the other side of the coin, approximately one in five (20%) actually indicated an income increase in March 2020. Industries showing the greatest resilience include pet related, maintenance and health services. Vulnerability was evidenced across retail, restaurants and fitness clubs. A high level of respondents (33%) indicated that 100% of their franchised business outlets would record a loss for March. 58% of respondents also anticipated a significant weakening of income in the current quarter, with only 11.8% anticipating an increase. Survey respondents reported a prompt and sharp focus by franchisors on actions to support their franchisees. In fact, 94% of respondents provided specific and often multiple examples of the actions they were taking to support their franchisees. Financial assistance (direct and indirect) was being provided by 61% of the franchise systems, specific assistance to navigate through changed business regulations available financial support packages (29%) and direct involvement in landlord issues by 18% of franchise systems. Automotive issues have not been included in the Federal Government's ongoing w...ork with the Taskforce. The changes are at this stage draft regulations only, and are open to public comment until 13 March, with an intended implementation date of 1 July 2020. Introduction The proposed changes intend to introduce a part 5 and part 6 to apply to new vehicle dealership agreements in the franchising code of conduct. They are: Part 5 End of term obligations (division 2); Capital expenditure requirements (division 3); and Resolving disputes through multi-franchisee dispute resolution (division 4) Part 6 Provides the new application, savings and transitional provisions for the amendments introduced in new part 5. 01.01.2022 5 Steps To Increase Your Cash Flow Who doesn't need a little extra cash? Many business owners find it hard to recognise ways to generate more profit, often le...aving money on the table. Luckily, there are tried and tested ways to make any business more profitable. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to get on top of your cashflow. 1. Attract more customers How can you attract more customers through marketing? Look at your marketing for the next 30 days and write down what’s working and what’s not working. Then ramp up the strategies that have been getting you good results! 2. Increase the frequency of purchase per customer How can you get your customers to come back more often, or refer other people to you? Think about how you can motivate your customers to purchase again and tell their friends about you. 3. Increase average spend per customer How can you increase the average spend per customer? Look at your products and services and see if you can create packages or bundles to add more value and increase the average spend per customer. 4. Increase your prices Can you add more value and hence increase your prices? A lot of small businesses often undercharge for their products or services. Look at your offering and write down ideas on how you can add more value, in order to also charge more. There has to be a fair value exchange. 5. Decrease your operating expenses Where can you reduce your spending? For the next 30 days, keep a really close eye on every single cent that is going out. There might be things you’ll find that you don’t need or that you’re getting overcharged for. Shared from Basic Bananas Blog
