24.01.2022 Prof Jeff Szer was a pioneer of Bone Marrow Transplants @ the Royal Melbourne Hospital so many years ago. He is humble, dedicated and a reluctant hero to whom so many owe their lives. We are honoured to have had him as part of the Francoise Babet Leukaemia Foundation first consultant who travelled to Mauritius on a fact-finding mission in 2001 to help those in Mauritius. Sadly the Mauritian government never acknowledged his contribution.
22.01.2022 We remember Max and thank the Max Foundation that was created in his memory. The Max Foundation provide life saving treatment for Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) sufferers who cannot afford it, in countries like Mauritius. Deepak Ghumundee, Stephane Emilie, Sanjay Digumbar and many more, are alive today thanks to their generosity. ... The Francoise Babet Leukaemia Foundation is proud to be associated with the Max Foundation. Rest in peace Max, gone but never forgotten as your legacy lives on in the work of your Foundation.

18.01.2022 A belated Merry Christmas to you all from the team at F.B.L.F. We hope that you have had a blessed Christmas with your loved ones. Some of the committee members have suffered losses and going through difficult times at the moment as have other community group leaders.... We offer our condolences to the Vice President for the loss of her brother Roland Romain and Executive members Motley and Rosemay Ithier for the loss of their uncle Michel Jeantou and to the Lesur family and Stella Clavisque club for the passing of Ghyliane Lesur after a short illness. May they rest in eternal peace. We also ask you to keep our Vice-Pesident's husband and committee member Gaetan Clark in your prayers as he battles cancer. Life is not always the way we want it to be, sadly, but each day is a gift that we must treasure and make the most of. May the new year bring with it renewed hope. God bless Jean-Philippe Camille obo the Executive Committee
14.01.2022 Yesterday the Francoise Babet Leukaemia Foundation celebrated its 25th Anniversary. There were no big celebrations to mark this milestone, nevertheless, we quietly reflected on the work that we have done over the past quarter of a century and the many lives we helped save. We also lit a candle for the beautiful souls who did not make it despite our best efforts to give them a fighting chance. While the work of the Foundation continues behind the scenes quietly supporting th...ose who still need us, we take this opportunity to thank all those who came on this journey with us, whether for a short while or for the long haul. Each of your contributions helped us get through those 25 years. We are humbled by your support and pray that after this confinement, we will be able to get together and celebrate this momentous occasion with all of you. May God keep us all safe until we meet again. In unity Jean-Philippe Camille President

08.01.2022 Today marks the 26th anniversary of Francoise Babet's passing and this year we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Foundation, which was co-founded by Jean-Philippe Camille and I. As I reflect on the last 25 years, I say thank you Francoise for I owe you a debt of gratitude for my personal growth through the work of the Foundation. I would not have developed my interpersonal and communication skills to the level that it is now and met so many altruistic and like min...ded people who joined us on the cancer journey, if not for losing you. It has been a humbling experience and today we remember you and that your death was not in vain. Many lives have been saved, because you died. Rest in peace my forever friend. Stella Hennequin

03.01.2022 Hello Everyone It has been brought to my attention, that donations were made via Facebook to FBLF, but to date we have not received any of it. When I queried Facebook, (see below) the response was not helpful as (a) I had already registered with Facebook as a charity but no details are to be found anywhere since they made changes recently; and (b) We are registered the Foundation with Paypal Giving Fund and have received donations from them in the past so cannot understand w...here the money went as when I checked our account, there was nothing received from Facebook. Hence, if you have made donations to the Francoise Babet Leukaemia Foundation via Facebook, please seek a refund from Facebook as we did not receive the money. 01.01.2022 For all our family and friends who have survived cancer, are battling cancer or have lost the fight. Today we honour you. 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of World Cancer Day. It will be a year to ignite action to accelerate the reduction of unnecessary cancer deaths and to achieve equal access to cancer care for all. The birth of World Cancer Day... At the start of the millennium, 4 February was declared World Cancer Day. It began with six cancer experts who convened in Paris in 1999. With the year 2000 imminent, the group was determined that the global challenge of cancer would not be forgotten in the new century. Together, the six leaders Drs David Kayat, Peter Harper, James F. Holland, Gabriel N. Horobagyi, Lawrence H. Einhorn and Sandra Swain drafted a Charter that outlined a vision for addressing the impact of cancer on human life, human suffering and on the productivity of nations. The Charter highlights the need for access to quality care, funding for cancer research, greater understanding and above all respect and dignity for all individuals living with the disease. The final article set out the idea for an international awareness day: "Recognising the declaration by all appropriate institutions that February 4 shall be marked as ‘World Cancer Day’ so that each year, the Charter of Paris will be in the hearts and minds of people around the world." This document became known as the Charter of Paris Against Cancer. On the 4 February 2000, the Charter was signed by then President of France, Jacques Chirac and then General Director of UNESCO, Kichir Matsuura. A growing, global movement The Charter has been adopted by international cancer organisations around the world. Under the guardianship of the Union for International Cancer Control since 2006, World Cancer Day has grown into a positive movement for everyone, everywhere to unite under one voice, building an alliance against fear, ignorance and complacency. 20th anniversary Since the creation of World Cancer Day, we have witnessed incredible progress in many areas, from increased political will, technological advancements, research breakthroughs, and greater public understanding of the disease. However, in 2019 the World Health Organization included Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs), including cancer, as one of the top ten threats to public health. There is still much more to be done.
