23.01.2022 Anglers are reporting that large escaped Atlantic salmon are providing excellent fishing A reminder that the bag limit is 12, possession limit is 24 and ther...e is no boat limit. You cannot sell, buy, barter or raffle recreationally caught fish but you are allowed to give your catch away. If you are using a net please remember: the net soak time is no longer than 2 hours if you are in a Shark Refuge Area. This includes the D'Entrecasteaux Channel (including North West Bay River and Huon River), the River Derwent and Frederick Henry and Norfolk Bays. See maps at: www.fishing.tas.gov.au//area-restrictio/shark-refuge-areas Night netting is not allowed other than in Macquarie Harbour (night is between one hour before sunset to sunrise). Your net must be adequately weighted so it doesn't roll up or get lost and become a ghost net. There must be buoys at each end of the net marked with your licence code and 'G'. Set over sand and not reef to avoid catching species such as bastard trumpeter that have a depleted stock status. Don't set nets near seabird rookeries or popular swimming beaches. Check the netting rules here: www.fishing.tas.gov.au//recre/scalefish/gear-restrictions

13.01.2022 As a small business owner I know just how hard it is to make ends meet month to month. In this current situation it is even harder so to all my Freinds I encourage you to stay calm and support your local small business. As of midday today cafes and restaurants will be closed for sit down meals but will be able to take away. These guys are going to be hit the hardest so please consider getting a take away coffee or pre cooked meal. Every little bit is going to help ensure they... are there after all this blows over. For the moment Franklin Marine is still trading we have a good stock level of fishing and boating gear. Heading out and fishing off a jetty with a few mates is a great way to stay in contact but still able to keep your distance. Dont at this time shut out your Freinds just find other ways to interact where social distances can be observed. See more
