13.01.2022 Thought we'd take the chance to introduce the hot chocolate that we're currently using: @birdsnakechocolate Why we love it: it's @birdsnakechocolate 45% Ecuadorian cocoa from the 2020 harvest (just quietly, I had never thought about cocoa having harvest dates Of course it does! It's a farmed product!) From Birdsnake themselves : "This cocoa comes from Guayas in the South West of Ecuador . The team loves the way these beans hold fruity and deep fudge notes. It is rich an...d rounded, just like the monopoly man." We also love that @birdsnakechocolate "pay above board for all the ingredients we use so that everyone involved, from the farm to your face, gets a fair go" Because of its high cocoa content, it probably won't be as sweet as the hot chocolates you might be used to so feel free to add or ask for some extra sugar Anyone elses mind blown this morning about cocoa having harvest dates?!
11.01.2022 Even though the weather is not quite sure if it wants to be summer or winter, a colourful salad is ALWAYS a good idea Introducing a new salad to the menu: with charred strawberry, green beans, broccoli, hazelnuts, fetta and fig and balsamic dressing
10.01.2022 Coffee nerd out alert: We have a new coffee on the batch brew called José Quintero, Colombia roasted by @woodandcocoffee that we are feeling very excited about. If you want to learn all about it, start here! from @woodandcocoffee: José Quintero has been involved with coffee for as long as he can remember. His parents were coffee producers, and having his own land to produce coffee and continue his parent’s legacy had always been a dream. However the reality of the socio...-political situation in Colombia put this dream to the test. Rioblanco, where José is from, is now known throughout Colombia for its infamously violent past, which saw thousands of local people flee their land in search of safety. Understandably this proved to be a massive challenge to José's passion for coffee but thankfully he prevailed long enough to see the end of the violence. We feel very lucky and honoured to be able to roast a Honey Geisha varietal lot from Don Quintero. It tastes of Pink Grapefruit, Caramel and Jasmine. A truly exceptional produced coffee from a much-cherished region of the coffee world. What's honey processed? From perfectdailygrind.com When done right, honey processed coffee can literally taste like someone has put honey and brown sugar in your cup of coffee although the name actually comes from how sticky the beans get during processing. In many ways, this type of coffee is halfway between a washed coffee and a natural process coffee: it’s fruity, but not in as exaggerated a way as some naturals. It often has a more rounded acidity than washed coffees, with intense sweetness and complex mouthfeel.
