25.01.2022 Tyson Trophy Report and Results. Report for Sunday Handicap event, Thanks to Phil Page. Did anyone take any photos? Sunday the 6/12/20 was a special day for th...e 10r class, sailed at NM home waters at Kariong we had representation from 4 clubs which has not been the case for quite a few years it’s a handicap event where the best 3 places from each club are added to find the winning club This year it was taken out by NM followed by KB, LM and Southern Cross. It should be mentioned that some new blood in the Southern Cross club with very limited experience under trying conditions on B rig came along and did their best and even though did not win they were winners for the sport. Three Marblehead boats raced as ten raters and did quite well in B rig conditions with a few boats finding the conditions somewhat challenging and having to pull out which left about 10 boats out of 16 to finish the day. A very well run day under trying conditions with the dam also well down on water but the wind direction allowed for a pretty good course of triangle sausage triangle. 22.01.2022 UFO A Class is a development of the UFO, with a heavier displacement more sail area and a cleaner shape. This boat I am building for myself. It was not intended to be published until after my boat as sailing but it has taken a lot longer to complete than expected. I have had a couple of people asking about the plan so I have completed a 2D version in PDF. It will be updated from time to time and there are also some 3D components that will come along later that can be 3D printed.

22.01.2022 Wooden (Cedar) IOMs, this is what you get to do during Covid lockdown, build some boats and add a little extra to make them stand out. The 3 boats are an Ellipsis #52 designed by Frank Russell, a MadMax #85 and a Corbie 5 designed by Mirage Radio Yachts.

20.01.2022 Phoenix 4 2020 10r: Every new design presents a designer with options to consider and directions to go. After a ten year gap from the design of P3, all 10r's had adopted the deep keel, light weight approach. Although it did seem to work, I after the P5 I though that the Phoenix 4 design although fast went in the wrong direction. I always have thought about what I should have done. So this is P4- 2020, with 2020 hindsight is the result. I fell this design would be very suitab...le for those wanting to build from wood. LOA 1550mm LWL 1250mm BOA 200mm BWL 180mm, 4.2kg ballast on 600mm Draught and P1 to P3, Marblehead style sail plans on a flat deck. 16.01.2022 I have several new designs in the works including new IOM designs. This is a new old Tenrater design, I always though that the Phoenix 4 design although fast went in the wrong direction and I always have thought about what I should have done. So this is P4- 2020, with 2020 hindsight. LOA 1550mm LWL 1250mm BOA 200mm BWL 180mm, 4.2kg ballast on 600mm Draught and P1 to P3, Marblehead style sail plans on a flat deck. This design would also work under Naviga rules. She even drawn in the same software as the original. There will be plans with laser cut sections if needed. Oh - and I think it will be competitive.

These drawings were done as an experiment and so far the first boat has turned out well. 13.01.2022 My latest "Torture board" sander repair. Originally made in 1978, the ply board was replaced in 1980. I used the same screw blocks (too lazy I guess) the board lasted a short while, broke in half and was glued (lazy) the end block screws have finally given out. So new blocks and screws. If is still the same sander to me.

10.01.2022 Daniel Rodriguez after a lot of experimenting has produced this beautiful FRD Epsilon RG. It is 3D printed from ABS including the fin and rudder and came out at 1088g all up.
