17.01.2022 The Committee of Greater Frankston has welcomed more positive investment in Frankston City ahead of the recent State Budget! Committee for Greater Frankston CEO Ginevra Hosking said the 11-storey redevelopment of Frankston Hospital would be the cornerstone of Frankston’s growing health care, medical research and education precinct. It would provide cutting-edge, next-generation health care as well as enable the training of the next generation of doctors, nurses and allied ...health professionals professional jobs so badly needed in our region. The ongoing renewal of Frankston CBD received $1.7 million in the Budget for Frankston Revitalisation Board initiatives. Ms Hosking said top of the list was Frankston’s northern gateway Nepean Highway. The highway precinct had been in decline for many years. It is now strongly impacting on how people see the city’s commercial centre and is scaring off investors. It would be great to see Nepean Highway a main focus in Frankston City for a rejuvenation of outdoor dining spaces, we can’t wait to see what’s next!

17.01.2022 Some great news out of Frankston City Council today following multiple Facebook posts in regards to rubbish collections at our beaches. Frankston City Council doubled the frequency of its beach litter bin collection and installed additional temporary bins prior to Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup public holiday. Council CEO, Phil Cantillon, said the unprecedented number of people who flocked to the City’s beaches on Tuesday (3 November), meant the most frequented bins filled quickly b...etween the twice daily collections, while others, only a short walk away, remained under capacity. Mr Cantillon said he appreciated that beachgoers had attempted to dispose of their rubbish in the right way and officers resolved the problem as part of their daily collection schedule. The nearest bins to the beach tend to attract the most rubbish but there are also bins located on the walkways to our carparks. If you can’t access these bins when you’re leaving the foreshore, please take your waste home and dispose of it in your household bins, for kerbside collection. We will continue to monitor and adapt our service as we to move into the summer months. Mr Cantillon added that Council was committed to protecting the City’s unique, coastal environment and to empowering the community to reduce waste. To report local issues, including at capacity bins, download the free Snap Send Solve app via the app store. THANKYOU FRANKSTON COUNCIL!

Men’s mental health is an issue that resonates James personally, his older brother committed suicide at the age of 21 when james was just 14 years old. There are men silently suffering everywhere. James’ hopes this campaign has brought some smiles back to our Frankston community! 01.01.2022 Replas - Recycled Plastic Products and Frankston City Council have teamed together with Frankston Sand and Soil and SR Engineering to install a concrete footpath using recycled soft plastic collected through the REDcycle program at Coles and Woolworths. This footpath is the first council constructed project in Australia using Polyrok - a sustainable alternative to mineral aggregate in concrete for pathways, kerbs & channels that find a home for the most problematic waste stre...am, soft plastic. Using soft plastic material, like frozen pea bags and bread bags, from the REDcycle program, Replas is challenging every Council in the country to get on board to be part of the solution for their plastic waste. If each Council in Australia committed to just one kilometre of footpath, 1,900 tonnes of Polyrok (470 million pieces of soft plastic material) would permanently become part of the communities’ walkways. Frankston City Council Deputy Mayor Nathan Conroy said the Council was proud to participate in the ground breaking initiative. Replas’ development of Polyrok and its use at Seaford align with our strong commitment to sustainability and the protection of our precious environment. It’s wonderful to see waste such as soft plastics being recycled to create vital infrastructure, Cr Conroy said. Cr Conroy said Polyrok had been incorporated in both a section of the footpath and retaining wall as part of the Hartnett Dve Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) plan in Seaford, which included the much-needed footpath. Cr Claire Harvey added: We’ve had a long association with Replas and used their products made from recycled materials such as street furniture across Frankston City. For years I’ve been taking all my soft plastic packaging waste back to the supermarket to be recycled, so to be here today and see the resource-recovery circle completed like this is really rewarding, she said. Federal Assistant Minister for Waste Reduction and Environmental Management, Trevor Evans MP, welcomed the collaboration to find innovative and practical ways to reuse soft plastics. There is huge potential and opportunity for infrastructure projects to help us build a more circular economy, Federal Assistant Minister Evans said. Deputy Mayor Nathan Conroy (centre) cuts the ribbon to formally open the new footpath in Seaford the first in Australia which contains Polyrok, a sustainable alternative made from recycled soft plastics with Cr Claire Harvey and Replas Managing Director Mark Jacobsen.
