22.01.2022 Rosie's Kitchen Pantry is one of the first hospitality venues in Frankston to expand outdoors through council’s extended outdoor dining program. Concrete safety barriers between the road and outside dining area were installed at the Frankston South business, as well as added colour to the barriers and dining parklet bays to make the space welcoming. The creation of the parklets was funded as part of a $500,000 State Government grant.... Parklets and expanded outdoor dining spaces will be in place until the are reviewed in June next year. Council officers then developed a site activation plan and facilitated the permit process. Our officers identified the best option to meet social distancing and safety requirements with the creation an outside dining area, Deputy Mayor Nathan Conroy said. The existing six car parks were repositioned and this made room for an outdoor dining space. Pantry proprietor Rosie Major said the extend outdoor dining allowed her to increased patronage in line with current government COVID-safe guidelines. While business remained somewhat steady throughout lockdown through takeaways, since the creation of the outdoor dining customers have been coming back in droves, which is great for business. We have also been able to put on more staff," she said. There is a new sense of hope in the community and I feel neighbourhood businesses like mine have an important role to play in nurturing this. Our cafe provides a welcoming place for friends and family to sit, relax and connect over a coffee and some delicious locally made food. I absolutely love the bright colours the council painted the safety barriers. They really enhance the vibe and fun atmosphere we strive to deliver to our customers every day. 04.01.2022 Belvedere Bowls Club members can’t wipe the smiles from their faces after Frankston City Council backed a major $1.2 million clubhouse refurbishment. The works will include: -Demolition of an existing single storey office building on the site -Extension of the existing single storey clubroom building for new... amenities including a storeroom, bar, cleaner’s room, match committee room, entry foyer and office -Refurbishment of the existing kitchen and pantry and -Alterations to the existing car park Mayor Kris Bolam said the much needed upgrade would provide modern facilities that are accessible, inclusive and fit for purpose. Restrictions have meant that many residents, particularly our senior residents, have been unable to socialise or remain active over the past eight months," he said. It’s a great to know that not only will members once again be able to take to the green, they’ll also have a new clubhouse to be proud of. The Belvedere bowlers love their sport and use the three greens for competition four days a week during Pennant season and three days a week during the off season. The greens are also used for training and social play on most days of the week. Club board member and groundskeeper Rod Atherton said members were excited. It will be fantastic to get it going. It’s a big project, he said. Bowling is popular and this will provide room for future growth." The Belvedere Bowls Club is based at East Rd, Seaford, and caters for about 190 members. Its current facilities include a social room, kitchen, office space and several storage sheds. Belvedere Bowls Club was created following the amalgamation in 2016 of Frankston RSL and Seaford Bowls Clubs. It became evident that the facility at East Rd, formerly Seaford Bowls Club, was no longer functional or fit for purpose following the merger, hence the major refurbishment. The works are due to be completed by June next year. Pictured: Belvedere Bowls Club President Kevin McCormarck and member Jan Oakman.
