23.01.2022 The rain arrived a little later than we expected but it certainly hit with some wind! Our crews are currently out responding to calls for assistance, mostly for trees down over roads & on buildings. This is one of our jobs from earlier today. Not exactly what we would call a small tree but fortunately it did little damage to the structures... Stay safe everyone!

19.01.2022 It's our turn for a duck story! (Tag, SES Chelsea Unit!) Our crews were called to Sandhurst last night to assist some ducklings & ducks that became stuck in a drain. Our crews arrived and were able to rescue some of the ducks & ducklings. When one little duckling was being particularly tricky to get to, we called on Carrum Downs Fire Brigade to assist with the rescue. We were also supported by AWARE wildlife, thank you teams! We were able to rescue all but one duckling which ...made it's way out today A great effort by all involved Philip Tyme #WeWorkAsOne

18.01.2022 Families and friends play a critical support role for our volunteers. This weekend, VICSES will be celebrating all the friends and families that support our volunteers to do what they do. Our volunteers at Frankston are often faced with challenging emergencies. They occur during dinner time, while we are sleeping, while we are at family events or even while we are out doing the grocery shopping. We might not be home for hours or might not make it back to the party in time. ... It's not always easy but we are dedicated to helping the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year. So thank you. Thank you to those who support us to do what we do. Thank you for your patience, understanding and kind words. #YourFamilyOurFamily #VICSES

17.01.2022 Do you know what you would do if your home was impacted by a flooding emergency? It is important for every household to have an emergency plan written and prepared. The Australian Red Cross has created a plan template which can be found at https://www.redcross.org.au/prepare For more information on how you can prepare your home for the threat of flood please visit https://www.ses.vic.gov.au/get-ready/floodsafe

14.01.2022 Three Victorian’s were tragically killed by falling trees in the strong winds on August 27 this year. Strong northerly winds will again bring a risk of falling trees for large parts of the state on Saturday. Peak gusts of around 100kmp/h are likely above 400m (including the Dandenong Ranges) with gusts increasing up to 110km p/h on Saturday morning. Increased moisture in the soil from recent rain can compromise tree structures, whilst trees impacted by previous recent storm e...vents may have dislodged branches or weakened structures which only elevates the risk. Monitor conditions and remain vigilant to the risk on Saturday. If you are outdoors and there are strong winds, avoid walking or sitting underneath trees. Monitor conditions and try to time your exercise or visit to the park outside of the strongest winds. The safest place to be during a storm is indoors. Avoid unnecessary travel. Don’t be on the road if you don’t have to, particularly in leafy areas. If you must be on the roads please drive to the conditions. For emergency assistance to floods or storms, phone the SES on 132 500. For any life threatening emergency, please phone 000.

13.01.2022 To avoid flood and storm damage to your home and your property, it is important that you prepare. Ensure that you have an adequate number of sandbags ready to go if your home is at risk of flooding. Make sure that your gutters, down pipes and drains are cleared of any debris and leaf litter. Ensure that trampolines are securely anchored to the ground and any loose outdoor and patio furniture is secured or stored in a safe place. Remember to never park your car under a tree during a storm.

12.01.2022 Never drive through flood waters. If the road ahead is flooded, turn around and find another route. It only takes 15 cm of water for your car to float. You cannot guarantee the road condition when driving through flood waters. This also poses many other risks. Stay safe and make safe decisions.

11.01.2022 Please ensure you are keeping updated with the conditions. We are expecting heavy rainfall this afternoon & throughout the evening.

06.01.2022 Happy International Men's Day! The theme for 2020 is ‘Better health for men and boys'. Here at the Frankston SES, we want to acknowledge all the incredible men that volunteer and support our volunteers. Men, partners, husbands, brothers, fathers, uncles, friends, sons to name a few, we appreciate you ... We acknowledge that men's mental health has often been stigmatised and we understand that especially within the emergency services, mental health is incredibly important to talk about. We strive to create a fair and safe space for all genders. #InternationalMensDay2020

03.01.2022 Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. Due to COVID, today will be commemorated a little differently this year. Fortunately, RSL Victoria will be live-streaming the Melbourne Remembrance Day Service from 10:45am. "...At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them."... Lest We Forget.

02.01.2022 On behalf of all the members at VICSES Frankston, we would like to pay our respects to Rhys Maggs AM. Rhys played an intergeral part of the development of VICSES as an outright emergency service, rather than a business unit within the Department of Justice. Rhys also served as the State Director, the equivalent of our current Chief Executive Officer, among many other roles before retiring in 2005. Rhys achieved so many critical milestones for not only VICSES but the World R...escue Organisation and Australian Council of State Emergency Services. We pass on our prayers and thoughts to Rhys' family, friends and loved ones. Without such a remarkable man, we would have not achieved what we have today.

01.01.2022 Our volunteers responded to a road crash rescue in Moorooduc this morning. With an increase in traffic on the road, we remind all drivers to please ensure they are driving to the conditions and stay safe while on our roads. We worked with Moorooduc CFA to ensure scene safety and provided traffic management due to the blind corner the crash occurred on. Fortunately there was no extrication of driver/passenger required. Well done to all services on scene
