24.01.2022 Dear all, As of this morning, ZOOM is insisting on passwords for all meetings. For today's worship service, please use the password: 953154 when prompted. There's still time to join now for the 10:40am contemporary service - noting that at 10:25am we start for the early children's time.

22.01.2022 If anyone in our amazing community wants to help, please get in touch with Jacqui our church secretary. (See post below)

21.01.2022 Hi church! If there's anyone who is unaware that our contemporary worship is still on tonight at 5:30pm via zoom chat, there's still time to download "Zoom" https://zoom.us/ and connect with our contemporary service online - If you're not sure how, now is the time to ask! Look forward to speaking to some of you at 5:30pm!

20.01.2022 Tomorrow's High Street Uniting Church AGM is being modified - rather than gathering everyone together, we will deal with the essential business at each of the two services. Worship will be at 9am and 10:40am as usual, but if you are unwell or anxious by all means stay home. The 9am service will be videotaped and posted on our website by Wednesday. Further information about our response to COVID-19 and about the AGM are available on our website, frankstonuniting.org.au A praye...r from elsewhere on Facebook: Prayer for a Pandemic (author credit: Krug the Thinker) May we, who are merely inconvenienced, remember those whose lives are at stake. May we, who have no risk factors, remember those most vulnerable. May we, who have the luxury of working from home, remember those who must choose between preserving their health or making their rent. May we, who have the flexibility to care for our children when their schools close, remember those who have no options. May we, who have to cancel our trips, remember those who have no safe place to go. May we, who are losing our margin money in the tumult of the economic market, remember those who have no margin at all. May we, who settle in for a quarantine at home, remember those who have no home at all. As fear grips our country, let’s us choose faith, hope, and love. During this time when we cannot physically wrap our arms around each other, let us find ways to be the loving embrace of God to our neighbors. Amen

18.01.2022 For those interested, at 9am tomorrow, the uniting church invites you to live stream an Anzac Day memorial service on the Uniting Church In Australia facebook page.

12.01.2022 Today is the first day of lent - a time of refocusing our lives on the life of Jesus, as we begin the countdown to Easter. This year over the season of Lent we will be sharing weekly reflections from Common Grace’s Lent Devotional Series: Jesus says ‘I am’. Here’s an invitation to join with other Australians and find common ground as followers of Jesus. https://www.facebook.com/564280547034271/posts/2614597438669228/?vh=e

12.01.2022 This Sunday we are worshiping differently, as we respond to the situation with COVID-19, for the health and safety of the whole community. Almost all social gatherings and meetings of the church have stopped, at least in face-to-face format. For the next several months we are going to need to adapt to maintaining contact and care for one another in different ways, and our practices for grounding our lives in relationship to God are going to need to adapt, too, at least in ter...ms of the things we do together, like worship. Disruption is not a new situation for the people of God, although it might be for us. Perhaps the most classic example of this was when the people of Jerusalem were carted off into exile in Babylon, finding themselves in a strange land, cut off from normal contacts, grieving but unable to maintain rituals in well-known ways. In that situation Jeremiah instructs the people to pray for the place in which they find themselves. Psalms from that time acknowledge the range of emotions and frustrations, and lay them before God. The book of Lamentations, perhaps written by Jeremiah, weeps at affliction, but at its centre holds on to the promise that the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning therefore I will hope in the Lord. I hope that you will be able to connect with worship by telephone or video as part of a regular routine through this time; and that through phone calls etc. you will be able to stay close with any groups that you are a part of. If you think that the office may not have your contact details, and especially if you want to be put on the newsletter email list, please contact the office (9783 3400 or [email protected]) Please read the latest advice on our response, available on the website. In prayer, messages and phone calls let us hold each other together before God. God’s peace, David
