24.01.2022 HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! Though we cannot be with our friends and extended family right now, let us be thankful for each other and not forget the real reason we celebrate Easter. Wikipedia - Easter, also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, is a festival and holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day after his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. He came, die...d for our sins and on the 3rd day rose and ascended into Heaven. It is this selfless sacrifice, love for us and his rebirth we celebrate and give thanks for today. Though it has been confirmed this morning we have another 4 weeks of lock down to go, with a review May 11, let us all band together, support one another and give thanks for what we do have during this difficult time, and that is each other. We are all having to sacrifice now, but a massive celebration and a rebirth of our freedoms and beloved footy season is not far away. May God Bless all of you, your families and friends.

21.01.2022 IMPORTANT - Please Read. Good afternoon, To all of those teams that have returned to training recently, thankyou for embracing the new protocols and abiding by the new rules regarding hygiene and keeping track of attendance. So far it has proven to be successful and hopefully reasonably simple. If you haven't returned to training yet and would like to, but still need clarification regarding protocols etc, please do not hesitate to contact me [email protected] I... have listed below the current requirements. We ALL have a part to play in ensuring that we follow the rules and can hopefully see a return to football games soon. *********************************************************************** Updated training protocols as issued by AFL Victoria on 2nd June 2020. Training Groups Two groups of 20 on an oval (plus a coach and reasonable number of people to support the activity) Maintain social distancing protocols where participants remain 1.5m apart There must be a distance between the two groups and groups cannot mix Venues with multiple ovals can have two groups of 20 per oval *********************************************************************** FURTHER INFORMATION: - Parents or other people are required to keep a reasonable distance from groups in an outdoor setting or will be included in the group of 20. - All activity and training must be non-contact, and no competitions are to take place. Contact sports must be modified so that you can maintain 1.5m distance. - No use of communal showers or change rooms, however toilets can open. - Footballs are allowed to be shared, however they must be disinfected before and after use. - Hand hygiene, (sanitiser) frequent environmental cleaning and disinfection, minimise sharing of equipment. - A 'training register must be kept with the names of all players taking part in training. *********************************************************************** FROM THE COMMITTEE: - Please ensure all players bring a clearly labelled drink bottle to training and that each player sanitises his/her hands prior to taking part in training. - We have to abide by a 'Get in, Train, Get out' protocol at the moment, so please ensure you arrive at the venue at least 5 minutes prior to the end of your child's training so they are not waiting around. We ask that any parent who helps on the oval during training (helpers kept to a minimum) has undertaken the Infection Control Training - COVID 19. This is a very simple 20 minute online course and can be found at https://www.health.gov.au//covid-19-infection-control-trai Please email your certificate of completion to [email protected] and state what team your child plays in. I understand this is a lot to take in at the moment and we thankyou for your continued support.

18.01.2022 I read the below post recently at another Junior Footy Club.. I asked the person "do you struggle to get volunteers?"... his response.. "who doesn`t ?!".. If there was ever a year when we should all work together to help each other and for the kids, its as of this year.. Jason McMillan Junior President... VOLUNTEER! 1. You’re needed. Our club is run by volunteer parents. You don’t need any special skills or qualifications. 2. Have a say. Don’t just sit on the sidelines this season and wonder why the club did this or didn’t do that. Your voice is important, sit with us around the table and tell us your ideas and point of view. 3. Enhance our culture. The Club is proud of its community spirit and positive culture. Lead by example, and come for the ride of building a happy, family club. 4. Your kids will be proud. They will appreciate the time you have given to help run our sporting club. It sets a great example to them to think of others and get involved. Studies show that children are more likely to be active when at least one parent is involved off field. 5. It’s an opportunity for you to give back. What better example can you give to your kids? 6. No experience necessary. We mentor and support each other in all roles and it’s really not that scary. Your volunteering also makes excellent resume fodder! 7. Share the workload. Sometimes people are put off by the perceived workload of joining a committee. The old adage ‘many hands make light work’ sums up how a committee should work, and while some roles may be more time consuming than others, everyone’s contribution helps. Being a family club, we understand the juggling act of all of our committee members. 8. It is free! It costs you nothing but a little of your time. We know how valuable that is and are grateful to all of our past, present and future committee members. 9. Make new friends. Meet parents from other age groups and work together to make our club even greater. 10. You’ll feel good. Volunteering is good for your mental and physical health. Nothing beats the feel good factor and satisfaction you’ll get from knowing that you’ve been a big part of making YCW the club where your kids love playing.

18.01.2022 Good afternoon, I hope you are all well. With season 2020 well and truly over, it's time to start looking forward to season 2021, and here's hoping it's going to be a ripper! I understand that junior footy might not be at the forefront of your mind at the moment, however we will be calling for 2021 committee nominations in the next couple of weeks and I am asking you to please consider being a part of the committee and doing your bit for your club. YCW JFC cannot run without ...a dedicated committee and whether you consider an executive position (Secretary, Treasurer etc) or would just like to be involved as a general committee member, your input is valued and appreciated. The committee meets once per month from about February to October and meetings are generally kept to a 1.5 hour time frame with the exception of a couple of longer meetings prior to season start. Please give some thought to being a part of the YCW JFC committee in 2021, and let's look forward to a bumper season! See more

14.01.2022 I’m sure I speak for most people when I say that no one absolutely LOVES being on a committee, however our junior football club simply cannot run as a successful club without one. It’s not hard, or super time consuming and I can honestly say it’s very rewarding! We have had some amazing committed volunteers over the years, however the same volunteers cannot continue to run our club season after season. We need your help and support! Many hands make light work and a full com...mittee of volunteers ensures a smoothly run season and longevity of our club! Your club! The junior AGM is on Tuesday 24th November 2020 via Zoom. 12.01.2022 Hello YCW families, We have had confirmation of a season start date of July 12, with the advice of an approximately 12 round competition. With that said, we need to get kids registered asap so we can now finalise our teams - there is no pressure to play or train from us nor the AFL, but this is in line with current Vic Govt and AFL South East guidelines. We can play footy! Our fees are the lowest in the league, and remain at $190. Despite there being 2 rounds less than a norm...al 14 round season, many clubs maintain a full charge of fees, despite a shortened season. YCW always has been and always will be a family club that provides a professional, family orientated environment where every child is supported to be their best and a club that provides a low cost fee structure and value for money for families to assist their kids getting into footy. As such, for all families that have registered already and continue to register for this season at the standard $190 fee, the club will provide a $20 canteen voucher to be used after round 4, allowing us enough time to calculate and print these vouchers. This effectively sees us charging only $170 for fees this year which I think is highly reasonable, fair and prudent to protect your club, the commitments we have made this year and at the same time a reduced fee structure for families with a shortened season at hand. Please register as soon as you can to assist us in locking in our teams for the season and your childs spot in the team. With good standards and following the Covid 19 protocols required of us, we look forward to seeing the kids out there, playing footy in safe environment as soon as possible. https://membership.sportstg.com/regoform.cgi regards Jason McMillan Junior President Frankston YCW See more

11.01.2022 Hello Everyone, I hope you are all well and looking forward to getting some extra activity in with the easing of restrictions. As yet there is no announcements for the return of community sport but it is highly likely the next announcements will clarify this. 11.01.2022 Updates on season 2020, plans for the next 5 weeks and important items on the horizon for our club and teams.
11.01.2022 Hello YCW Juniors, Yesterday, after considerable consultation over the last couple of months, the MPNFL season (SENIORS COMPETITION) was cancelled for 2020. This decision does not affect the FDJFL junior competition. Local senior football, as with the AFL, is heavily reliant on many things to fund its operations, be it bar sales, gate takings, sponsors and social events. This along with challenges faced by volunteers and player availability, due to the salary cap being reduce...d to zero for the 2020 season, saw the competition eventually and unfortunately become very unpredictable, and ultimately financially unviable. Junior football by contrast is a simpler and less cost intensive competition, however, it will still have its challenges. We will all need to follow the return to play protocols that have been communicated from the relevant bodies and do our bit to manage the kids and club through this difficult time, so please ensure you put your hand up when there is work to be done.. don`t wait to be asked. Kids footy is the most affordable team sport around and the one of the most enjoyable to watch and be part of.. but it requires parents participation to make it run. If you just want to watch your kids play sport and contribute nothing, other sports come to mind and should be considered.. So for clarity, the junior competition is not affected by this MPNFL senior announcement. The junior competition is still to start on July 12, albeit a bit earlier than what we as a club would have liked. What we need to ensure is that we are ready, especially now school holidays have begun, the challenge becomes even greater to be organised and ready Your committee, team managers and coaches will be working hard over the next 2 weeks to make sure everything is in place to start the season - and I will repeat, with many jobs to do, many hands make light work.. Do your bit! Our club`s main goal has always been and will always continue to be, to provide the kids a safe, fun, professional, family environment to learn the game of Aussie Rules and to help them be the best they can be. This has never been more important than right now during these uncertain times. Go YC Jason McMillan Junior President Frankston YCW Football Netball Club

09.01.2022 IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Good afternoon, By now I'm sure you have all heard many updates regarding a return to small outdoor group training sessions for groups of up to 10 people. The 25th May 2020 is the date that club sanctioned training can resume, however there are protocols that must be adhered too. There is no room for complacency with regards to these protocols, all clubs must follow them 100% if we want to continue. I must stress to you that although training can take ...Continue reading

08.01.2022 IMPORTANT PLEASE READ. Good Morning, You are all aware that unfortunately season 2020 has been cancelled due to COVD19 and although we are all very disappointed with this outcome, it is out of our control and all we can do now is look forward to a bigger and better 2021 season. Your committee met this morning via Zoom regarding fees that have been paid by 2020 season registered players. I ask all 2020 paid up members to please check their emails in the coming days as you will... receive an email with some options regarding your fees. Please respond promptly so that our registrars and treasurer can work through all requests. I would like to remind you that our committee is run by volunteers, so please be patient, but rest assured your request will be processed as soon as possible. Thankyou for your support and understanding through these difficult times and I hope we can all reconnect later in the year for a bit of footy fun.

06.01.2022 Today, AFL Victoria has released a memo titled "Return to Play Protocols and Dates". We are excited about the prospect of a return to footy and would like to assure our football community that we will be following all guidance from the state government, health officials and our governing body, AFL South East, so our return is as safe and efficient as possible. AFL Victoria will release its return to train protocols early next week and is endorsing a return to club sanctioned ...training from Monday, May 25. This timing will allow clubs, committees, coaches, players and families time to digest the protocols, go through an education period and prepare themselves ahead of returning to club sanctioned training. The first stage of return to train protocols for community football in Victoria will enable training to resume in groups of up to 10 people. The group of 10 does not include a coach or the minimum number of support staff who are reasonably required to manage the activity. Two groups of 10 can utilise the same oval provided they do not operate closely together, and the oval is split into two zones. The Frankston YCW Junior Football Club will continue to work closely with AFL SE to ensure alignment with their advice, and in the event of further easing of restrictions, we hope to be move through the return to training stages, with hygiene and safety protocols firmly in place. In order for this return to play to be successful, and in line with Government advice, it is essential that our teams work within the timelines and protocols and do not move ahead of the level and restrictions in place. As part of the return to play process Frankston YCW Junior Football Club will appoint a COVID Safety Officer who is responsible for ensuring these protocols are adhered to and participants can return to a prepared and safe environment. We are also developing a COVID policy for the club. We would like to ask all of our community to download the COVID-SAFE App, to ensure we can quickly trace and manage any outbreaks in our local area. We understand this announcement will raise many questions and ask for your patience as we work through the protocols required by AFL Victoria. There is a considerable amount of work to do to determine how we can equitably resource training for all our teams under the stage one guidelines. We also need to be aware that there may be variability in how much training players have been able to complete during this time, so levels of fitness and preparedness will be different. We need to ensure that our plans cater for this so it is safe for everyone. Full memo from AFL Victoria can be read here: https://aflvic.com.au//AFL-Victoria-Return-to-Play-Memo-16
05.01.2022 Hi YCW JFC family, We hope you are all coping through these crazy and difficult times. I have really missed being around the club this season, going to games, Sunday night dinners and our epic social functions, however I have made the most of the downtime by spending plenty of time with family, catching up on odd jobs around the house and staying active. I wanted to reach out on behalf of the committee to share a mental health 'tool kit' from the AFL South East website in th...e hope that it might be helpful to any of you who might be struggling through this isolation or of course at anytime throughout your lives. 2020 has been a year we will never forget that's for sure, but please know that the YCW community is still here and we are looking forward to coming back bigger and better than ever in 2021. http://www.aflsoutheast.com.au/player-and-cl/mental-health/
05.01.2022 GREAT NEWS, TRAINING IS BACK! We have just conducted our final session with coaches on Zoom and have now fulfilled all the requirements to get back to training in line with current AFL requirements. A reminder to parents to familiarise yourselves with the training protocols, each player must register their attendance at training each week, bring their own drink bottle, sanitise hands when turning up and parents are to stay on the outside of the ground. There will be no conta...ct at training until further restrictions are lifted. We can however now have 20 in a group up from 10 last week, which is a great starter for us. Please read all the details previously posted and a reminder that training is not mandatory and whilst its great to be back at training, it doesn`t guarantee a return to matches.. As such no payment of fees or registration is being sought at this stage, we just want to get kids back to footy and active again! Your coaches will post training details shortly! So lets get out there, train the house down and look forward! Frankston YCW - excited to be back at Jubilee Park!!
04.01.2022 SEASON 2021 - weekly update.. Afternoon and hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend! As we edge towards a return to school, pre-season and a 2021 footy season, we need to start filling the remaining holes.. COVID destroyed 2020 for all of us in many ways.. but we cannot let it shape 2021. As a society we have adapted and now run at zero cases most days in our new COVID normal.. As a footy community we need to ensure kids are playing sport and being active, mentally and ...physically fit, resilient and supported.. It is forecast to be a drop off this year in kids playing sport, and most importantly it is also tipped for a drop off in volunteers.. Your club cannot run without a committee and people to run it.. and like a broken record, I will say again.. - many hands make light work.. - someone else will do it is not sustainable or fair.. - Im busy is not an valid excuse either.. we are all busy!! To date, a number of posts requesting people to come forward has yielded little.. A reduced committee will mean a reduced level of service to members.. don`t expect merchandise to be readily available or orders filled promptly, assistance to register will be slower and the famed Sunday night award dinners will only be held when they can if we can`t get the people to run them.. As president, I do not and have not had a child at the club for 3 years now.. It was out of pure necessity, no one else willing to do it, and the recognition that someone needed to step up and take the reins of a once great club that was sliding downhill at a rapid rate and had shrunk to a shadow of its former glory days.. The constant strain on volunteers is not from the jobs they do in the club.. that is a commitment and a labour of love that is both a privilege and honour to be of service to the club.. to see many happy children learning footy, being their best, making new friends and parents and children loving their club, being proud to be a Stonecat.. rather it is from the lack of assistance and others not coming on board to lend a hand and be part of the next generation.. to take up the baton and do their bit.. however small that is.. to say, Im here for you, what can I do to help! Right now. we still need a Treasurer Secretary Canteen Co ordinator Merchandise Co ordinator Of great urgency is the canteen role.. it is a paid position and is integral to the viability, profitability and successful operations of this and all clubs alike.. If we can fill this internally, someone who can have the time and wants to earn some extra money, maybe there is a retired young aunt, uncle, grandmother or someone who only wants to work part time out there that you might know?! If you can help with any of these roles, please do contact me [email protected] or 0433 057 797 as we will be advertising the canteen role externally very shortly so we can give ourselves enough time to fill the role before the season starts.. 02.01.2022 A message from our governing body AFL South East.. getting closer now to a return to play and some normality! On the back of todays State Government announcement around easing some restrictions, we have been advised that AFL Victorias position around training is that no sanctioned training activity should take place until further notice. AFL Victoria will seek clarity from the State Government around what todays announcement means for community football and will be in cont...act in due course. A number of considerations around health and safety protocols and insurance need to be worked through before any training being sanctioned. AFL Victoria will provide AFL South East with a return to play protocol for our community leagues and clubs once the State Government approves it.
