24.01.2022 This is a real discovery Such a lovely voice singing a superb aria from a rarely performed opera by Vivaldi. Enjoy
23.01.2022 If my head is feeling swollen today, it is for good reason. A customer who attended last week’s recital, said she enjoyed it. And I am quite satisfied how it all went. It was well attended and the music went well. Bach/Busoni’s Chaconne was a piece that a month ago, had me wondering what I had gotten myself into, but when it came down to it, I pulled it off quite nicely. That is what I find really satisfying about performing. For every note, something can go wrong, but if you... have done your practise and just get into that zone when you are one stage, it comes together and you communicate with the audience. That is the fun of it. And yes, nerves are still there, and they can actually be healthy because they keep you alert- the trick is in controlling them and not letting them control you. Just a little tip for you. The recital made two hundred dollars, and it was by donation for St. Paul’s piano fund. As for next year, I will complete my Schubert piano sonata project. I have just two left to play. And then I am looking at Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons. This set of twelve pieces is not performed so much, but a couple of the pieces are well known, including the June Barcarolle. I also want to get back into Beethoven’s piano sonatas, and then to explore Mozart’s sonatas. Let’s see how it all pans out. Thanks again, to all who supported Sunday’s recital and I trust you all enjoyed it. See more
18.01.2022 Practice is going apace, for my recital on the 28th. This is part of the celebrations for St. Paul's Lutheran Church's 60th anniversary. There is no set price for admission, but we ask for a donation toward our piano fund.
18.01.2022 Good stuff on memorization
15.01.2022 A bit of a discovery, this one. For a long time, I have been seeing this thing in videos of performances of earlier music like say, Monteverdi, and even Bach, and here is what it is! There you go.
