19.01.2022 More fenced areas, increased fines for feeding Wongari (Dingoes) and more education are all welcomed measures 'to promote safety on K’gari. The Palaszczuk Government has announced a range of new measures as part of its commitment to the continued safety of visitors to K’gari (Fraser Island). Minister for Environment Leeanne Enoch said the Palaszczuk Government would be working in partnership with the Butchulla people to ramp up safety, education and compliance measures.' http://statements.qld.gov.au//minister-announces-action-on

18.01.2022 Did you know that the White-bellied Sea Eagles have been know to prey on Dingo pups... just another reason why Mum keeps her pups away from the beach until they are a bit bigger and stronger. This impressive bird can stand up to 90cm tall and as has a 2.2metre wingspan!

17.01.2022 It is recommended that families with children 14 years and under camp in the camping areas with dingo deterrent fences. These are provided at Central Station camping area; Dundubara camping area; Lake Boomanjin camping area; Waddy Point top camping area. This is not just for your safety but also for the Dingoes. Children can easily be intimidated into dropping their food and are generally quite messy so please help us to avoid teaching Dingoes bad habits and camp inside a Dingo Fence, especially during April and September school holidays when Dingoes are more active due to mating and pup season. Thank you

14.01.2022 They certainly don’t look ‘cute’ when you see those canines hey. Though this young male was just enjoying a morning yawn when we snapped this shot on our zoom lens during our beach walk this morning it certainly makes you respectful of these wild Wongari (Dingoes). We acknowledged him as he did us but we did not bother him and nor did he bother us. We were both just happy living in harmony on wild K’gari - Fraser Island.

12.01.2022 Our dear friend Joanne McKay shared this wonderful page with us and we wanted to share with you too. Here you can find lots of great resources for all the science, biology and behaviours of the Canis Dingo. The island's distinct canid species is not a sub-species of the greywolf as was once believed. In fact, the Wongari (Dingoes) rightful classification was achieved and co-authored with a team of scientists along with Lyn Watson of Australian Dingo Foundation - Dingo Discovery Conservation and Research Sanctuary.

11.01.2022 What you digging for ma'te

09.01.2022 In recent months Fraser Island's Dingoes have been in the spotlight far too much, and for all the wrong reasons. As residents of Fraser Island, we have started this page to help educate the island's many visitors to conduct themselves in a way that with help keep both you and the Dingoes safe from harm. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have before visiting the island and will post lots of facts and tips for all the family. Armed with a wealth of knowledge we aim to share information that will help you better understand the Dingoes behaviour so we can all live in harmony on K'gari (Fraser Island) and avoid thsi terrible sequence of events happening again.
