23.01.2022 Fabulous sunrise and beach photos this morning. Awesome Fraser Island

23.01.2022 Just got home from spending 12 days on Fraser, had a sensational time camped with family and friends on the Eastern beach 1.5klms North of Cathedrals....there w...as 26 of us all up camped together at one stage, ranging in age from 4 yrs old to 74 years old. School holiday numbers were down due to COVID rules limiting, that was great for those of us that managed to get a booking. Dingo sighting numbers was rediculous, I have never seen so many in the 30 odd years of me going there, so many out and about during the day and heaps about at night aswell. Whale sighting numbers for us were down a touch on last year but we still saw plenty, we also saw a heap of turtles up at Sandy Cape including a couple of them mating only 5mtrs from the shoreline in the breaking waves, and also on 2 occasions saw an Eagle flying over camp with a snake in their claws. 19.01.2022 Well I thought we were going to do ourselves a mischief just as I was doing that last post. You might just hear a couple rude words from Dean, there was a lot... of action in the cab with switches being flicked, gear changes and selections being made. Plenty of fresh sand all the way along the beach. See more

11.01.2022 Here's a little video of Fraser Island. Just a collaboration of footage to enjoy. Including some drone footage.

11.01.2022 Did you know road rules apply on beaches? If you're 4WDing, it's best to slow down, watch for hazards (like dingoes!), and drive to the conditions. What's the best beach to drive on? https://bit.ly/3lpTPUG

07.01.2022 #Spring is just around the corner and #schoolholidays are one of the busiest times for visitors on Kgari (Fraser Island). Its also a period of high activity f...or the local wongari (dingo) population. September to November is when wongari pups are learning hunting and survival skills from their parents, and can often be seen following their mother out of the den to explore areas close by. If food from humans is available, pups may not learn the natural hunting skills they need to stay living wild. Feeding wongari can lead them to becoming dependent on human hand-outs as a food source and can cause them to become familiar and aggressive towards people. Its important to remember that wongari on Kgari are wild, apex predators and should not be confused with or treated as domestic pets. The best way to appreciate them is from a distancetheir life and our safety depend on wongari remaining wild and naturally wary of people. So whether your family is visiting the island for the first time, or are regular visitors, the best thing you can do for the wongari is to appreciate them from a distance. As the Butchulla Aboriginal Corporation - BAC people say wed like all visitors to give our wongari spaceKgari is their place. On Kgari, our QPWS rangers work closely with the Butchulla people, the traditional custodians, to make sure that visitors and residents stay dingo-safe. When on the island everyone has a responsibility to stay safe and minimise harm for our native animals. Plan ahead to make sure your trip is dingo-safe at http://ow.ly/BKRb50BkjG3 #qldenvironment
