25.01.2022 *PLEASE SHARE* Rosie, Comet and Squeak at the Fraser Coast Wildlife Sanctuary need your immediate help. The Queensland Environment Department has ordered the d...estruction of three beautiful animals at the sanctuary, a Laughing Kookaburra called Comet, a Brushtail Possum called Rosie, and a Tawny Frogmouth called Squeak. The animals have been assessed by a vet and have found to be in no pain and there is no reason for them to be put down. But the Queensland Government has ordered that they be surrendered by June 30 2020 and they will be euthanased. I saw these animals today and they are well cared for, they are eating and they are in good condition. I can't believe that any right minded person would demand their death, but that is just what the Queensland Government is doing. The sanctuary is permitted to take and keep protected animals that can be rehabilitated and released to the wild. But Rosie, Comet and Squeak have disability and it would be cruel to release them to the wild. So the Queensland Government requires their destruction rather than letting them live happily and being cared for in a protective environment. I want to stop this nonsense and wanton destruction of life. Join me in calling on Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk MP to show some compassion, decency and common sense and stop the killing of these precious animals. Please email [email protected] and let's help save Rosie, Squeak and Comet.

19.01.2022 Today at 10.30am we say goodbye to three of our much loved and precious animals, Rosie the possum, Squeak the tawny frogmouth and Comet the kookaburra. These animals have called the Fraser Coast Wildlife Sanctuary home for many years. But the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Science has ordered they be surrendered today and they will be taken to Brisbane. As we have not been given complete information, we fear today is the last time we will ever see th...em. We had hoped that the animals could be assessed here, in their home, where they are cared for by very devoted people whom they have come to know throughout their time being looked after at the Sanctuary. Because of their disabilities it would be cruel to release them to the wild, so sadly they will be removed from their home, placed into cages and taken to Brisbane where they will be assessed and potentially euthanized or re-homed to other places. We are very saddened by this action, but want to thank everyone for their support for helping to save the precious lives of Rosie, Comet and Squeak.
