01.01.2022 Police are reminding the community of the old adage that if something seems too good to be true, it probably is, after a spate of reports about an unsolicited c...aller offering to sell cheap electrical goods. A number of small businesses have reported receiving calls from a man offering large televisions, electrical appliance and white goods at heavily discounted rates. He claims the deals are being offered on behalf of his uncle Michael Walsh and are available due to a store closing down, but only for a short period of time. Following similar calls interstate the goods have failed to arrive, leading to police in Tasmania issuing a scam alert last month in which they said a suspect residing in New South Wales had been identified and they were working with NSW Police to investigate the matter. If any members of the public have received a phone call from a man selling goods such as those described and have sent money they are encouraged to contact their bank or financial institution and attend their local police station to make a report.
