09.01.2022 This month marks a pretty special achievement for me - 3 years in the macrame biz! 3 years on and I still can't believe that this hobby has turned into a proper business. I quit work nearly 12 years ago when I had my eldest ,my husband worked and I was a stay at home mum.When I first started doing this, I never intended for it to be such a big part of my life. my goal was to make enough money to pay for the groceries. When I made it that far I made another goal,and anot...her, and another. I think I have worked enough hours in these last 3 years to cover the 9 that I had off! It just goes to show that with hard work and a lot of bloody long hours, you can truly do anything you set your mind to. Im so happy that I have a job that I love, and that i can do from home. 04.01.2022 Do you prefer natural wood or dowel? I'm definitely a natural kinda girl, I love how every piece is unique with lots of character. You guys often ask me about wood so thought ild do a little post about it. Where do I get it? Where don't I get it I make a lot of hangings so I'm constantly on the look out for sticks, I get most of mine from a property we have been allowed access to. Super thankful for this,however it all needs to be debarked which is not fun. I grab them ...from parks, side of the road and the beach (your not actually allowed to do this so don't get caught! The cops have busted me twice now, maybe just grab a few and don't fill the tray and roof racks) All I do is debark if needed, and give a quick sand, that's it. Make sure there completely dry before using. I don't soak in bleach or anything like that, I know thats very popular with a lot of makers. You can do this if you like. What type of wood do I use? any thing thats not rotten my listings all say natural wood, not driftwood, so I can use absolutely any colour which is awesome.
