25.01.2022 RAISING THE FLAG An important part of the school day is raising both the Australian and Aboriginal flags. On the Duncan Campus it has been the tradition of a student from our Education Support Unit to take on this job and it is always done with great pride and care.

25.01.2022 Anyone for bacon and eggs with a side of mushrooms? The Year 9 Outdoor Education class had a cooking lesson over the fire today in preparation for cooking out in the bush. Looks like they were all getting the hang of it, but I have to admit turning the eggs with tongs took a bit of practice!!

25.01.2022 Languages Week got off to a bang today...literally, when students and staff were entertained by Japanese drumming troupe, Taiko On. After a wonderful performance the audience were invited to have a bang on the drums and I can say the sound wasnt quite as melodious!!!

24.01.2022 ENTERTAINMENT With new pop songs and some classics, the Year 12 Band welcomed back students to Term 3 today with a mini concert in the courtyard at recess. What a joyous way to commence the new Semester.

23.01.2022 EXCELLENCE The Duncan Campus Cluster Swimming Carnival happened early in Term One this year. A day for our students to enjoy each others company, compete in the Frayne spirit and strive for excellence, they had a great time... as shown in the video made by Year 11 student, Martin Phan and the Frayne Media Club. ... Check it out on YouTube now!

23.01.2022 Earlier this week the Senior School students joined in some stress-free activities by getting out to exercise and have some fun. Taking part in sports like the egg and spoon and three-legged races and tug-o-war, they still showed they had plenty of competitiveness between the Clusters.

21.01.2022 SPORT What a lovely day to be out in the sunshine as these Year 10 students found out at the ACC AFL Carnival. Both the boys and girls had mixed results, but they all enjoyed the opportunity to represent Frayne in a sporting competition...which have been few and far between this year!

20.01.2022 Please be aware that the College is experiencing a power outage and, although school continues as per normal, it will be difficult to contact the College until the power resumes.

19.01.2022 RESPECT Today the Junior School had the opportunity to participate in activities to celebrate NAIDOC Week. Some of the activities were face painting, friendship bracelets, Dreamtime stories, Aboriginal dance moves, damper making and writing stories in the sand using symbols. From the happy faces on the students I think they all enjoyed the chance to learn more about the Aboriginal culture.

19.01.2022 The Year 5 classes have each spent a day learning more about the Mercy story in WA. Taking the ferry from South Perth to Elizabeth Quay, they then walked to the Cathedral tracing the steps Ursula Frayne would have taken all those years ago. After a tour of the Cathedral, Choir loft and Mass, the students had the chance to take a step back in time by visiting the Mercy Convent across the road.

19.01.2022 In what resembled the AFL draft, Year 9 students were today 'drafted' into their new Senior School Cluster for next year. From the cheers this morning, the battle lines have already been drawn between Clusters for a competitive 2021!

19.01.2022 During ISO parents picked up the new skill of hairdressing...but was it a success? Kindy students turned up today with the craziest of hairstyles, which under normal circumstances, would not pass the Colleges Hair Policy! Good job it was Kindy Crazy Hair Day and it was an acceptable part of the uniform. Think there will be a bit of scrubbing tonight to remove some of the colours!

19.01.2022 After 20 years it is time to refresh the poles outside the canteen area on the Duncan Campus. This dedicated group of students have given up their free time after school and the Pupil Free Day to come in and start the job. As can be seen the poles are going to be aligned with the current Clusters. Cant wait to see the final designs.

18.01.2022 Last Friday the Balmoral Campus came alive with disco beats, flashing lights and pumped up dancers. The students, dressed in their best disco outfits, enjoyed their goodies bag in between dancing to both new and old Pop songs. From the Kindy students at their first disco, to the Year 6 students making the most of their last Primary disco, FUN was had by all in attendance. A number of teachers were also seen to be enjoying a dance or two!

18.01.2022 On a wintry wet day the Duncan Campus held the annual Cluster Athletics Carnival, and whilst it may have rained, it didnt dampen the spirits of the students involved. Here are some happy snaps from the day with the action shots to follow tomorrow!

17.01.2022 Some happy snaps from a wonderful Prep School Sports Carnival today. The happiness on the faces of the students as they participated in their activities and cheered (loudly) for their Faction, was pure joy.

15.01.2022 Gelato is not just for summerit tastes just as good in winter!!! As part of Languages Week, Pietro Gelateria were on the Duncan Campus today selling their yummy gelato. Students and staff had a choice of flavours making it hard to choose just one, so for some that meant having a double!

15.01.2022 GREENHOUSE Do you have empty plant pots lying around at home? If you do, and are happy to part with them, please bring them in to the Duncan Campus!! Our greenhouse is currently being stocked up with goodies but to keep working on it we need supplies of plant pots. All shapes and sizes are welcome, but 20cm diameter is preferred. ... Thank you Frayne community!

15.01.2022 HOME BUILDERS Our Year 9s were hard at work today building gingerbread houses in Foods! Its certainly harder than it looks to get that roof on but luckily the end result is tasty regardless.

14.01.2022 Last week the Year 8 students had the opportunity to mix socially with each other at Zone Bowling. I'm sure there were a few strikes and some misses, but no doubt lots of fun.

14.01.2022 LETS GET PHYSICAL Our students get some wonderful opportunities for their sports lessons, with off-campus options available to them as a semester-long course. Each week, during a double-period, our Year 9s are currently learning how to play golf (Collier Park), touch football (Raphael Park) or outdoor ed, where they went for a kayak on the Swan River... while some of the Year 8s have been learning to surf out at Trigg Beach with Surfing WA Surf School. ... Its great to see them enjoying some exercise outdoors!

13.01.2022 Last night the Year 10 students enjoyed their Dinner Dance after a number of weeks of Ballroom dancing lessons. 13.01.2022 A life-long lesson all students should learn is sewing! Being able to sew a button or take up a fallen hem is something that will carry you through life. Our Year 3 students are learning all about back stitch, cross stitch and sewing buttons with the fun activity of making ‘little monster’ soft toys. From the happiness on their faces it was obvious that they were very much enjoying it.

11.01.2022 Just a reminder that even though our Book Week has been postponed to Week One, Term Four, the Book Fair being run by Friends of Frayne is still happening in the Balmoral Campus Hall this week!

10.01.2022 In a Whodunnit Case the Year 7 students all became members of the Forensic Police to solve the murder of Deano. Researching the evidence it was up to them to decipher who the real murderer wasEthan, Aliza, Cole or Aiden. If you have a Year 7 student you can quiz them about it tonight! If not, it was.

10.01.2022 Last Friday the staff were invited to a day of contemplation, prayer and celebration. With the theme Gather at the Well: Renewing ourselves with Christs Living Water, we started the day with Mass and then moved into various sessions, including reflective prayer, meditation, reconciliation, walking in companionship, creative activities and the joy of ballroom dancing. It was a wonderful way for staff to celebrate the end of what has been a very different Semester.

08.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK With NAIDOC Week being celebrated during the first week of the school holidays, the Balmoral Campus had to hold off their celebrations until this week. Today the Prep School participated in a Welcome to Country, followed by a variety of activities.

07.01.2022 50 years ago this lovely group of ladies graduated Year 12 (some left in Year 10) from St Joachim's contemplating what the future would hold for them. Today, the Class of 1970 returned to reconnect and remember stories of their school days. They loved seeing all the advancements at the College since their days but especially enjoyed visiting their old Year 12 classroom...now known as G04!

07.01.2022 What a competitive group of students we have with record numbers participating in the various track and field events at the Athletics Carnival. It was great to see such positive participation, either seriously competing or maybe just having fun gaining points for their Cluster! Either way it was a successful day.

06.01.2022 Today the Year 3 students had a visit from Sophie Stewart, a Frayne Graduate from the Class of 2011. Sophie is passionate about social justice for the marginalised and, in particular, Aboriginal and refugee communities. The students were excited to know Sophie used to go to their school and researched her life since leaving Frayne. They had some well thought out questions including, What 3 qualities best describe you?, What has been your biggest challenge in life?; to the more personal, What is your favourite colour? and Who was your favourite teacher?not realising that Sophie left primary school well before they were even born! Needless to say Sophie enjoyed the visit to her old school and being in her old Year 3 classroom!

05.01.2022 TRANSITION Our Year 6 students are commencing a new immersion program whereby they will spend one day a week on the Duncan Campus for five weeks. 03.01.2022 If you have a child in Kindy, I’m sure they came home very excited about the visit of some of Australia’s wildlife, including a cuddly koala, a dingo pup, goanna and a couple of snakes. Whilst the students themselves knew quite a few facts, I’m sure they all learnt some new ones as well.
