12.01.2022 Have You Got A Flyer, Tract, Or Bible To Pass On This Week? See What It Did To Me! (By Paul E. Momoh)... So Tired Of Normal Christianity: I was so tired of normal and dry Christianity. At this stage of my life, I was set to start my first job in a new city, Sept 1986. I was eager to start earning from employment (being fresh from sixteen continuous years of study: primary, secondary, tertiary). I was also growing desperate for God in the same season of my life. So, two roads just met. One road was the eagerness for more money. The other was the desperation for (more of) God. Who understands that place? Does that resonate with you or someone? Here's how it went with me. I Must Find A Serious Church: Back then, I was thinking like, and trying to remember a verse (which sort of kept coming back to me): 'seek ye first the Kingdom, and all these things shall be added unto you' (Mat. 6:32-33). So, regardless of the eagerness for money, I said to myself, the first thing I will do on arrival in the city will not be the job and money. My first is to find a serious Church. I Must Be Fed With The Living Word Of God: So, being serious and hungry for God, with a posting letter in one hand and my bible in the other, I could hardly wait to arrive (and hopefully find a serious Church). Did I find one? My goodness, I didn't just find one. I attended a minimum of three main services weekly. I call it Receiving. Then, volunteering for Church after work in service groups (which includes serving as Editor of publications). I call this Giving, which is more blessed to Give than to receive (Acts 20:35). At the same time, maintaining my fulltime job (where I was busy and over-worked as a young, entry-level manager). I Must Be Filled With The Living Spirit Of God: It was a Church, so on fire with God that I got instantly filled with the Holy Spirit on day two. I had been without the Holy Spirit experience for a decade of being a Christian. No wonder, I was so hungry. Something was missing, but how did I get to that Church in the first place? A Church flyer. Please, help me say it loud: A Church flyer and help me thank God for whosoever was handing out that flyer. As I was later to learn, one sister, Margaret, brought the flyer to our street. Her reward is sure laid up in heaven (Hi, Margaret, just in case you are reading this. Thank you and a high five!). Rather Have A Half Flame Than A Big Spark With No Flame: Here's where it even gets pretty glorious: it was not just a Church flyer. Not a full-size flyer as we know it. It was half of a flyer. Someone may have been given a full flyer as an invitation (and was, perhaps, offended) and ripped it into two. I found one half on the ground. God had supernaturally preserved the one half. Did that half do a good job? You got the answer right, but there's more. Wait until I get you there, where you can judge for yourself what one printed page for God can do. I picked up the ripped flyer and could still see the half-statement on the half-flyer: 'Pentecost flames' conference '86. I thought to myself, dear God, here is a half flyer with a half flame and half dead. I have seen many fully decorated flyers, alive and well, without a spark. Now, God, I want that half as long as it is a flame. Get me there, Lord! I Better Know My Onions: Thank God, I knew my onions. Here is 'Life & Truth' for today: Always know your onions when the 'baby in the womb of your spirit' kicks! God still answers prayer and leads in mysterious ways. Never worry about your gift of tract, flyer or bible being ripped apart. God is faithful, and your labour of love and work of faith will never be in vain! Better To Be Planted Than Every Where Without Roots: Do you know the next miracle? The Church address was also preserved, right at the bottom of the ripped flyer. Let's just cut to the chase (I still have a second glorious story to tell you): I went to that Church and remained planted in the house of the Lord for ten life-changing years. I was pastored, fed, and blessed. I also intentionally accessed service/ministry teams and grew spiritually thereby. Many miracles happened. I went from finding a great God-sent wife (wedded 1989 and saying, thank you Lord for three blessed decades to date. Hi Elisheba, love you!); to being appointed a local pastor, then ordained minister, to the presbytery as a reverend minister, Mission Board member, all in that Church, and from there to the mission to the nations (Faith Revival For The Nations, since 1998). Serving across four continents with the same Word ignited by the half-flame, of the one-half flyer, that some Meggy of a Meg sister dared to pass on. Hang on: just before all these, here's the earlier story to what you just read, coming up next how I got saved reading a printed page, Gideon's bible: My Salvation - Alone With God In My Mother's Shop, And A Gideon's Bible. I found salvation in Christ while reading the Gideon's New Testament, at age 11 (grade 7) in Nov 1975. Fresh from that encounter, I was over at a boarding school (from Grade 8), and became hungry and thirsty for God. Straight away, joining the college's FCS (Fellowship of Christian Students). Occasionally appointed to do the Sunday preaching as a junior at grade 9: imagine, what that boy was preaching to older/senior boys and girls! I went further in tertiary education, graduating and working fulltime, and later on, doing my first Bible college in 1987. Thereafter, answering the call to fulltime ministry by resigning from my business and management career, April 1988. I went on to become ordained clergy, July 1989 to date. Praise God! Thank you, Gideons. Your work and rewards are sure in heaven. We, the living fruits, must continue to bear fruits. Thanks for the opportunity to become a Friend of Gideons (adding you to my list of monthly gifts). Support to help do to others what God got you to do to us. Let the world know because of what you did (like many believers do each week with a tract, flyer, bible gift or preaching) and still going stronger today: myself and millions of others (only heaven knows!) have been saved from sin and crucified with Christ in His love. We now owe the dying world, the living Word, and our heavenly account, the living treasures of saved souls! Join in the conversation here or email me: [email protected]. What's in this that resonates with you? How about sharing your own story to God's glory? Your story may bring clarity to someone's experience. It may stir up joy in another or even lead to an encounter of Christ by the same Spirit.
