20.01.2022 What a huge success our first R U OK DAY Event was!!! Over the weekend Freediving Central and a group of 20 freedivers got together at Terrigal Haven for a fun dive, BBQ and a bloody good time! The viz gods shone down on us with 15m viz, Dans attempt at cooking was quickly overtaken by Adrian who saved our stomachs, our instructor Evan (commonly known as Master Evan) kept the drinks flowing and we were surrounded by such wonderful people! What a perfect day! We cant wai...t for the next social dive and the next annual R U OK DAY Event! Thank you so much to everyone who was there. 09.01.2022 Here it is guys and gals! HOW TO BLOW A BUBBLE RING! The method that I use and teach on all of my courses is the PUB method. Tips to remember:... In the ocean, this method seems to work best between 8 - 12 meters, but it can be done shallower. (Any deeper than 12 meters and you will start to have issues.) It is easiest if youre laying horizontal in the water, but most importantly your lips need to be horizontal with the surface, so make sure tilt your head back slightly. If there is anything around that you can stabilise with, use it. eg. Dive line, rocks or just be one with the swell ;) (not coral). The best results are with no current or swell. So when you swim down to your desired depth, give yourself a moment before making the attempt in case your movement created a slight downward current or motion. If you have a hooded wetsuit it will also be more effective if you tuck the wetsuit under your jaw instead of it sitting on your chin. This allows easy movement in the cheeks and lips when bubble ringing. HOW TO BLOW A BUBBLE RING WITH THE PUB METHOD: Step1. Dive to desired depth Step2. Lay on back - horizontal with head tilted back Step3. Fill mouth with air while keeping the lips closed Step4. I know it sounds crazy but say the word "PUB" in a Scottish accent! Dont force the air out, just let the air come out as you say word we all love to say "PUB". Step5. Ta daaa. Step6. High fives! Let me know how you go, I cant wait to hear!
