25.01.2022 So good to have my main pony back in action after about a month off. Feeling her lift her front end up as we take off into a gallop is the best feeling!

19.01.2022 I got to do a chunk of the Bris Valley rail trail today!

19.01.2022 When people get uppity about my prices. I have recently raised my trim price for Heavy and Heavy X to $80. This price is for those on a regular trim schedule, I generally keep them on 4 weekly. Now for those horses who haven't been trimmed for I don't know how long, I reserve the right to charge whatever price I see fit.... For anybody who wants to challenge me on this I invite you to come trim said horse, with 3 months plus of dry brittle hoof. I will hold the horse and even give you a hand to squeeze those nippers shut on those big boys. The other option is you go find some someone else to do it. For less $. I have zero issues with that. But, as the person holding the hoof I reserve the right to charge a bit extra when I'm trimming something as hard as a rock, bigger then a small car and has the ability to snap me like a twig. For such an essential service, our knowledge, time and body are greatly undervalued. As the saying goes, no hoof, no horse. And I make sure my clients have horses with GREAT HOOVES! That is my resume you are riding around on and I'm gonna make it a good one! So, no, I won't charge the same price for twice the work. If you only want to pay X, ok, which two hooves do you want done? Would you tell the hairdresser they cant charge you more to dye your long hair? Or the mechanic doesn't get paid in full when he does a massive job and fixes your vehicle?? The surgeon? The pilot? The chef??? Well, today it's not the farrier. Not this one anyway.

19.01.2022 Jandowae/Bell/Dalby Expressions of interest for Tuesday December 15th.

19.01.2022 I totally agree!

17.01.2022 I love this photo! The feeling in this photo is evident. Love it!!

17.01.2022 FLASHBACK TO 2016 This was my beautiful Hope. Unfortunately life sometimes dictates what you have to do and sadly I had to find this girl a home. ... But! I learnt so much from her. Her first ride out was down the street at Dalby. She was amazing, but one of my biggest lessons with her was BODYWORK!!! Looking back I could have solved a lot of problems if I had gotten her body sorted!

15.01.2022 Do you hear what I hear?

14.01.2022 Don't try to sell your horse unless you have a swear jar, lots of valium and maybe even a punching bag. Let's pop down a few one liners that we have all heard and are tired of hearing to the point we put a clause at the bottom stating not to say this... 1. Does it suit beginners, closely followed by can my 6yo ride them ... 2. Are they broken in (the horse is under 2, so obviously not) 3. Can I see more photos (on top of the 10 already in the ad) 4. How tall, how old, what breed (all of what is stated in the ad) 5. IS IT STILL AVAILABLE 6. Is the price negotiable? 7. Will you take $X? (Half or less of advertised price) 8. I can get plenty of cheaper horses at the moment (so go get them and stop bugging me!) 9. Will you do a payment plan? 10. IS IT STILL AVAILABLE 11. What is the lowest you will go? 12. My husband said no I'm sure there are plenty more!! Tell me your funny but not funny for sale stories below!!

13.01.2022 This I think was my fourth session with Reign the other day, he has been quite stroppy with me, because we have been working on sore areas, but this session he enjoyed a lot more and had a few minutes of massive yawns near the end. The power of Emmett never ceases to amaze me, it's such a kind and less is more approach but the horses get so much out of it!

10.01.2022 When you think about a farrier, what services would you like them to offer? When you think about a bodyworker, what services would you like them to offer? When you think about a trainer, what services would you like them to offer?... Do you want someone with extra qualifications and knowledge in other areas? Do you want a holistic approach? Would you like the option of purchasing packages? E.g. trimming + bodywork. Please don't just scroll by, I am genuinely interested to know!

07.01.2022 Caption this!!!

07.01.2022 Went to look at a horse the other day, ended up trimming another

07.01.2022 Thoughts of a workaholic!! "I have a few hours free on Thursday, should I advertise and fill it up?" The struggle is real folks.... I seem to be addicted to helping out horses and their owners. Much more than a job, I chose this lifestyle, because even though what I do is hard work it doesn't feel like work. I enjoy what I do, and I gain so much on a personal level seeing you and your equine partner kick your goals! So...if you need me, I'm free Thursday! Just going to leave this super sexy photo of my shiny pony for you all to at

06.01.2022 This week was definitely done right! I joined the Somerset group today to ride at Wivenhoe. The purple pony definitely deserves a day off tomorrow. She has done a cracker job, and we got a lot of compliments on how lovely she was today is this the same horse???... Wet saddle blankets for the win!

05.01.2022 I have been listening to her podcast. Definitely worth a listen!

02.01.2022 To everyone out there creating change!! Keep creating!! Keep speaking out!!

02.01.2022 I met this guy the other day. Another LittleBig. (Little in age but big in size.) His wonderful owner had disclosed that it was his first ever hoof trim and she was happy to pay extra if I needed to work with him a bit more to get his feet done.... Client of the MONTH right there thanks Court!!! (Not the paying bit but the info bit) So enter SAGE I did my usual spend a bit of time with him to say hi and frankly drool all over him - he is absolutely gorgeous but wouldn't fit in my car anyway... back to the trim, I picked up all his feet and then trimmed his hooves, zero drama. The end. How cool is that! See there isn't really much to say here, because his owner was forthcoming about the horse, I had all the information I needed and was able to take some extra time with this baby to make his first trim a super enjoyable and calm experience. I just love working with babies, (horses that it) setting them up for a lifetime of hoof care is super important!!

02.01.2022 Walk, don’t run. There is a missed training, safety and fitness opportunity whenever we allow our horses to run up hills... and yet, this is something I have to... teach people who come out to ride with me. But he will rear and fight me if I make him walk! He’s calmer if I just let him go on! Of course. It is far easier, physically, to rush ahead. Mentally, too many horses have been ill-prepared to accept our guidance. Those who are unable to wait are actually calling the shots. This common scenario is dangerous in a group trail ridein fact, anywhere the ground may be slippery. If you happen to be in front of such a horse, he’ll run over you. If you’re behind such a horse, he may well rear over backwards. Horses who slip out while rushing uphill risk serious, lasting injury to their hind quartersand yes, that is brutal life experience speaking. Picture a cast horse, his hind legs splayed out like a frog’s behind him, and you will know what I mean. We can always hustle up our horses, if we have to. Once allowed to rush and run, however, your horse is in for some dedicated retraining. Walking up and downhill is very good for any horse’s physiotherapy. You can get a horse ‘racehorse fit’ by doing little more than daily walking fast and freely over hilly country. Where we go up, we must come down. An old rancher named John shared with me his golden rule for keeping his working horses sound, well into their late twenties. It’s good advice. If you’re at the top of a hill you’d be hard pressed to manage, on foot, then step down. Let your horse be your guide. Keep ahold of the saddle horn on the uphill side and then, keep to your feet. Let your horse save his front end by not carrying any more weight on a steep downhill trail, than he has to. Check your cinch, reset your saddle, if need be and mount up again, at the bottom. John’s a crusty old fella but he rides some good ranch horses over hard, mountainous country. I’ve heeded his advice on how to judge a steep downward grade, ever since.
