24.01.2022 Simple, I know? I wish I’d realised this sooner. Who’s with me? #thehaeshypnotherapist

23.01.2022 If the relationship between you and your body can really be conceived of as a relationship....then is not trusting your body a good foundation? #thehaeshypnotherapist #bodyacceptance #bodytrust

18.01.2022 Look who I found snuck in to the therapy room, sleeping on my hypnosis chair.....she knows she’s not allowed in here, but how can I kick this sleepy head off??

08.01.2022 Today I had the pleasure, honour, and delight in interviewing Bill Fabrey; founder of NAAFA, the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, and his lovely partner, Sarah. Sarah describes Bill as the closest a person could come to being a saint, and I have to admit that after hearing more about his life and work, and speaking to him today; I get the same impression. After 51 years of activism and still going strong, Bill truly is the definition of a social justice... warrior. Bill talks about social justice, civil rights movements, intersectionality, and the social determinants of health in an incredibly nuanced and perceptive way. He highlights how for those doing eating disorder work, it's impossible to not quickly realise that that is a social justice issue; without the weight-stigma and fat-phobia rife in our culture, the vast majority of eating disorders would near not exist. In this interview, Bill speaks about the beginnings of NAAFA and candidly shares what fueled his desires to create NAAFA, including some of the experiences that his loved ones faced in the medical community and society at large. This included the time a doctor proclaimed to Bill's first wife, "who would want to marry you?" after she confided her engagement . This also included Bill's daughter's experience of developing an eating disorder after her pediatrician told her to "eat less to shrink her chubby thighs" at age 7 I'm so grateful for Bill's generosity sharing these stories, but it just reaffirms to me that this is why we do what do. Hearing these stories absolutely enrages me as I'm sure it does you too. ____________ Bill is an incredibly generous and kind man who exudes warmth, humility, wisdom, and good old fashioned common sense. I am so grateful for him and for the work that he has done and continues to do. The only place I’ll be sharing this interview will be in the private Facebook group for eating disorder recovery support; a place for anyone struggling with disordered eating, recovering, caring for a loved one of working in a professional capacity with eating disorders. I will put a link to the group in the comments below See more

06.01.2022 This short movie on YouTube was shared in the private Facebook group (which you're welcome to join if you're looking for support in recovery https://www.facebook.com/groups/121500031767460) and I thought it was really well done. Poignant, sad, but really speaks to the cultural and societal roots of a lot of eating disorders. TW: for descriptions of ED behaviours and language https://www.youtube.com/watch
