24.01.2022 First time out for lunch for a long time! Wonderful time at Glenbosch winery - new vibe and great views-and yesterday great burger at the newly renovated Billson’s (someone has to do the tastings and recommendations lol! )We are thoroughly spoilt in this great region! Great to showcase area and spend time with the son from Melbourne

01.01.2022 On this day in 1856, Beechworth drinkers were surprised and delighted when three local hotels offered the luxury of ice with their drinks! The ice was from Nort...h America, where the lakes were frozen for the winter, and large quantities could be sawn up and shipped to Australia as ballast, packed in straw. To transport the ice from Melbourne, a fast horse drawn wagon was used. The below image was of the Star Hotel on Ford Street c.1910, which was one of the three hotels believed to have offered this luxurious ice with their drinks. Burke Museum Collection, 2630
