25.01.2022 CORE STRENGTH AND CONTROL When talking about the core, most people think of six pack abs and doing lots of sit ups, crunches or planks. But is that what core control and stability is really all about? The deep core is made up of deep back muscles, deep tummy muscles, the diaphragm and pelvic floor, all working together to provide support and stability. If any of these muscles are switched off, weak or imbalanced it can lead to common issues like low back pain. ... At Free Movement Physio, one of our experienced physiotherapists can perform a thorough assessment to determine if there are problems with your core strength or control, whether this may be contributing to your pain and prescribe exercises to improve activation, balance and control of your deep core muscles.

22.01.2022 "I have been told I have Vertigo, but what does that mean? " Mitchell: "Vertigo is when the body is tricked into thinking you are moving, although you are still. The most common cause of Vertigo is BPPV, which is a problem with the deep structures of the ear resulting in mixed signals being sent to the brain. Free Movement Physiotherapists are trained in vertigo diagnosis and treatment. BPPV treatment includes flushing out the inner ear canals with positional treatments. Ph...ysio can also include rehabilitating your vestibular system to get your balance back." If you want help with your dizziness, book in a session with Mitchell or one of our other experienced Physiotherapists today.

13.01.2022 Free Movement Physio is currently following government recommendations and remaining open! We have also implemented additional strict hygiene procedures in all our clinics. We appreciate though, with current social distancing requirements in place, that it might not be the best option for some clients to attend their Physiotherapy appointment. As an alternative option, we have commenced Telehealth (video) appointments. These sessions will only cost $60 or Katrina will even ...be able to Bulk Bill clients with a Medicare EPC referral. Please send us an email at [email protected] if you would like to book one of these appointments. Keep up that hand washing everyone!

08.01.2022 Have you tried meditation? Research has shown us that mental health can affect pain levels. Did you know that Depression is the strongest predictor of Low Back Pain - Not MRI findings (Jarvik, et al. 2005)?! At Free Movement Physio we appreciate the value and connection between stress, your mental health, and your physical body. Zach who has made it a goal this year to practice what he preaches and begin meditating 10 minutes per day!
