23.01.2022 ANZAC Day Facts 1. At Dawn on 25th April 1915, the first major military action by allied forces took place in Gallipoli, during WWI. This is why April 25th is the date chosen to commemorate soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice at war to date. 2. Many animals play crucial roles in military operations including dogs, donkeys , horses, cats, dolphins, elephants and even pigeons. A purple Poppy can be worn to commemorate animals that serve at wartime.... 3. The last post was played daily to tell soldiers the days fighting had finished. 4. The biscuit we know as the "ANZAC biscuit" was named in 1915 after they became a staple for soldiers in WW1 instead of bread due to their hard, long lasting characteristics. 5. A very brave man John Simpson Kirkpatrick in WWI epitomised the "selfless ANZAC spirit" by spending days and nights rescuing over 300 injured men from the battle fields of Monash Valley, Gallipoli. May all the values of the ANZAC spirit; mateship, courage, persistence, selflessness, fairness, integrity, humour, endurance, determination and respect, continue to live on through us all. We Will Remember Them!

22.01.2022 Delicious Nose to Tail Dinner Lamb Neck Chop Curry Piccy may not be instagram worthy (especially since I thought to take a piccy after I ate a chop ) I still had to share for 3 reasons: 1. Slow cooking cuts with bone are nutritious and delicious!!!! And convenient to come home to dinner cooking and the aroma in your house. For the recipe join our Facebook cooking group "Free-Range Family Kitchen" https://www.facebook.com/groups/107577561351888... 2. Encourage everyone to try cooking with the less popular cuts - to be more sustainable we all need to cook with the whole animal. 3. As a reminder mouth-watering meals can be cost effective. ORDERS CLOSE FRIDAY! visit https://familyfoodco-op.com.au/buy-sustainable-food/ to order. THANKYOU TO EVERYONE WHO ORDERED FROM YOUR FARMERS THIS ROUND FOR DELIVERY THIS FRIDAY #nosetotail #eatlocal #familytime #familyfarm #homecooking #supportlocal
