23.01.2022 Occupancy Permit issued on this renovation in Dynnyrne. Well done to the team at P.A. Dance Builders, just a bit more cleaning up to do!
23.01.2022 The history of our name is a Tasmanian word defined in Tassie Terms; A Glossary of Tasmanian Words. Freestone; the name given in Tasmania to rubble stone, used in a variety of buildings. Construction involves the stone being placed in a random pattern and joined with mortar. Panshanger is one of northern Tasmanias finest buildings. Built of freestone on a Tasmanian hillside this elegant mansion has the essence of Grecian form. ... Runnymede in Hobarts New Town Built originally for a notable Hobart barrister about 1836, today stands in much smaller grounds but with a view that still extends across Net Town Bay. The freestone home was designed for Lawyer Robert Pitcairn about ten years after his arrival in the colony.
19.01.2022 We have been working with Podmatrix to deliver demountable pods around Tasmania. Winner to be decided on 3 October at the Awards Dinner, we will keep you updated. ... Read a bit about our lessons learnt so far.
15.01.2022 Final inspection completed on this self contained unit in Glenorchy This project was commissioned by Salvation Army Housing, aiming to provide housing for individuals and families on low incomes who can live independently. Well done to Macquarie Builders on the excellent finish.
14.01.2022 Our office 119 years ago! Federal Coffee Palace occupied the space back then. Coffee rooms or palaces such as these were first set up in the 1880s to encourage people to socialise away from pubs. They were never as popular as pubs and once the novelty wore off they attracted fewer customers. By the beginning of the First World War coffee palaces like these had all but disappeared. ... Now 11 Murray Street is a coffee shop again, nightclub and office for us!
14.01.2022 Sheds, sheds and more sheds, if your shed is over 6x6m2 you will require a Building Surveyor! www.freestonebuildingsurveying.com.au
13.01.2022 It was great to be apart of the Tasmanian Telstra Awards! With such a diverse range of Tasmanian businesses on show, it was a pleasure to finish as finalists in the emerging and energised category. We would like to thank all our clients, partners and employees who have helped us succeed over the past two years. We hope that we can continue to deliver our expert service to the Tasmanian community for years to come.

03.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who came and visited us at the HIA Homefest over the weekend! Was good to get the crew out of the office and mingling with new and existing clients. Well be back next year!
02.01.2022 Seeing more and more waffle pod slabs around! This is a good example of one we inspected in Longford last week. Waffle slabs work really well on sites that are almost flat, natural soils or controlled fill, that have good surface strength and where the natural ground surface falls away from the outsides of the building in all directions.... Waffle slabs are not recommended on highly reactive clay sites (Class H1 and H2) due to the difficult drainage requirements. Waffle pod slabs are a great construction method, just got to know the correct site to use them on! #wafflepodslab #inspection #buildingsurveying #freestonebuildingsurveying #footings
