21.01.2022 Colour is my day long obsession, joy and torment Claude Monet Colour Workshops with Pat Waters At Freestone Press... Colour contrast and colour harmony are umbrella concepts for two workshops Day 1 Saturday 16th February 9.30am-4.30pm 1.Workshop to begin with colour meditation. A great experience allowing participants to discover their personal relationships to colour. This will lead to practical applications later in the workshop. 2. Complementary colours. These are opposite hues on the colour wheel which give artists an extraordinary range of moderated tertiary colours when blended in their saturated form and even more extraordinary tints and shades when black and white are added. 3. Wassily Kandinsky Day 2 Saturday 23rd February 9.30am-4.30pm A solid introduction to the multiple colour concepts available to artists: Monochromatic colour Contrast of hue Analogous colour Warm colours and their light values Cool colours and their light values Contrast of extension. Practical creative applications of these concepts as time allows. Post TAFE and BSFA students will be offered extensions to their basic studies. 20.01.2022 Hi All, Freestone Press has just come back from a fantastic Art Tour to Japan,we were 10 people in all, a lovely group of like minded people enjoying everything... that Japan had to offer and hopefully offering something of ourselves to the wonderful Japanese people. We went to Tokyo and made our own paper, in the paper making town of Ogawa, and made paper the traditional way, we went to Naoshima an ART ISLAND south of Tokyo and were immersed in modern art and ancient culture, a heady mix, then onto Kyoto, the hippest city, great food, jazz dens and traditional dress as everyday wear..beautiful to be amongst...then off to Hakone a hot springs little town in the mountains..to yet again, all but briefly, be able to part of a traditional way of life. Very fabulous.....Freestone Press may have some tailored Art Tours in it's future, I'll keep you posted. See more

20.01.2022 Helen Banks ( Freestone Printmaker ) is having her first solo show at Briagolong Art Gallery .....the opening is this coming Sunday the 17th of March at 2pm. These stunning photogravure prints made from Helen’s own photos from a recent trip to India, take you on her insightful journey. Everyone welcome to yet another great exhibition at the Briagolong Gallery, plenty of wine & food for a good Sunday out.

18.01.2022 Oh my God a workshop with Dave Frazer on Skopelos as his assistant, how will I cope haha....the three amigos....crazy, mad & stupid....having a heaps good time already.....anyone up for a Greek Island experience, complete with fully equipped Printmaking studio on the island of Skopelos, beautiful accomodation overlooking the sea & wonderful food, this is it, I’ll keep you posted! 13.01.2022 Freestone Press has an exhibition opening Friday 12th of October 6pm-8pm, at the Briagolong Art Gallery, these are all new prints by some of the Freestone Print...makers, the theme is GROUNDED.....this theme suits a printmaker quite well.....as some of the materials used to make a print are called grounds, but also it eludes to being Grounded, because we practice a very old art form,we are connected to a like minded group and every thing we make is hand-made with quality products....so if you are interested in seeing what the Freestone Printmakers have been up to or would like to purchase a quality piece of original art..join us for the opening, hot pizza and wine are available...everyone welcome. 12.01.2022 Freestone Press is having an opening on Sunday November the 9th at 2pm ......we welcome you all to view beautiful recent works, lovingly made, on quality Printmaking paper by the Freestone Printmakers, these works are all reasonably priced and make a unique Xmas gift. 09.01.2022 Hi Everyone come and check out my new look studio at Freestone Press this weekend at our Open Studios round up....I've got lots of art for sale at one off studio prices and a great new etching area,art library& little kitchen available to all Printmakers....& Open Studio visitors, the new space was built by local ANT (affectionately known) Duncan, who was able to make sense of all second hand materials, no fixed design, we made it up as we went along, very creative Ant,much appreciated!.........looking forward to seeing you this weekend.....cheers Gilly

07.01.2022 Just to show you, that it wasn’t all play and no work at Dave Frazer’s workshop on the island of Skopelos, here are some examples of work created by Valmai Todd, Adelaide McPherson’s, me and the whole group, these works are about 10cm X 10cm, engraved into lemon wood and printed, I have a new appreciation of Dave’s beautiful wood engravings because it is quite a challenge to do! We had a fantastic group of people and I must say it was a privilege to assist David on this trip....thanks Dave best gig I’ve ever had, cheers Gill.

04.01.2022 A big thanks to Simon Gregg for writing his most recent book on the Art and Artists of Gippsland and a big thanks also for using my etching, ‘Spirit of the Bush’ for the front cover, I must say I’m proud to be on the cover of this beautifully written and illustrated book. Simon has identified many of the artists that live and work here, as well as the artists that come here in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s to paint,etch,and draw the wonderful, natural beauty that Gippsland... offers. We have many artists that have migrated here from the city to follow their passions,me being one of those people, I so appreciate the people around me that made it happen for me & Freestone Press, who really started a great respect for art & artists and gave people an opportunity to take themselves seriously at the Briagolong Fine Arts School, my best mentor and lovely friend Pat Waters...such an inspiration for me and many people....and Simon for really making it his business to care about the artists everywhere in this area of the world, and of course the Freestone Printmakers themselves and anyone that has ventured out to Freestone Press for a workshop, for being interested in pursuing your arts practice. 03.01.2022 Konnichiwa from Japan, the Freestone Printmakers are here in Tokyo for the start of are Art Tour, the tall skinny building in the middle of the first picture is our hotel right in the heart of down town Tokyo.

03.01.2022 These three images were created by Gillian Kline in 2020 responding to the current calamities we all face. From the series ' Walking with the phases of the Moon', "Scar Tree"is to depict how our aboriginals used this beautiful land, Australia, sustainably, " White Moon Night" is to depict European first settlers, " End of the Road" is to aluminate where we are now.
