25.01.2022 FREESTYLE GOALS Understanding the game is the first half. Understanding kids is the second half. We should be aiming for Top 20 in the Football World. Freestyle-goals ------------------... When we look back 20 years at the way that Soccer was coached, we get an insight into what the kids of today are going to think in 20 years time. The goal of the future is to believe in our players and the natural talent that all kids have. Theres so much more to coaching than just teaching techniques and tactics so that teams can win games. Soccer is only a game. Whats really important is the long term development of all our Soccer players. We can all do the same but innovation just isnt the same. We need to develop kids who can use their intelligence, initiative and intuition so they continue to grow. We can stimulate intelligence by asking questions so that kids have to think for themselves. We can inspire confidence by telling players to make as many mistakes as they like so we can discover the underlying cause. We can encourage innovation by letting kids create their own moves. We can give players the freedom to play their own game. We can provide a training environment where kids can practice skills and swap tricks with their mates without being inspected, directed, corrected or protected by well intentioned adults. There are thousands of kids who arent scared to fail, lose or make mistakes. They need a chance to challenge themselves and compete with other players. http://freestylesoccer.com.au/goals/#

18.01.2022 Freestyle kids make Soccer fun and they make Soccer work ----- In Australia, there are thousands of Freestyle Soccer kids who practice with a ball every day juggling, dribbling or kicking against a wall. Freestyle kids get at least 1000 touches of the ball each day. Most Soccer clubs dont know who their Freestyle kids are. They look at the kids who train when theyre told to train and they overlook the kids who have the motivation to train when theyre not told to train. 09.01.2022 Close Repetition Drills - from FreestyleSoccer.com.au ---- Close repetition drills are designed so that the training effects are immediate, visible, permanent and measurable. All kids are different and respond to different training. If we can develop different kids to suit the way we coach, we should be able to develop different ways to suit the kids we coach. ... Its not difficult to give kids the training drills that are relevant to their match skills. Freestyle kids take responsibility for their own skills development and push themselves harder than any coach can. The most effective way to motivate a Freestyle kid is to tell them what they cant do and then sit back and watch how they do it. Competitive kids like a challenge. These kids arent satisfied with a perfect system. They dont want a stranger to tell them that they lack talent. They set their own goals. Close repetition drills provide thousands of ball touches. Kids who dont like to juggle can still get 100 touches a minute and produce the same effects with wall practice or close ball control in pairs. http://freestylesoccer.com.au/drills/#crd

06.01.2022 Soccerates Says: Ordinary training produces ordinary players. Extra training produces extraordinary players. A one footed player doesnt have a leg to stand on. How good you are depends on how bad you want it.... Its better to be different than indifferent. 06.01.2022 JUGGLING IN PAIRS We spend so much time teaching kids what to do with the ball that we never learn what they do without the ball. the most common faults in Australian Soccer is the lack of movement and communication off the ball. A Juggling Circle (Control Centre) can identify this problem in 5 minutes. We place so much emphasis on striking, receiving and moving with the ball and minimise the importance of support play.... The most effective drill to teach kids control and support is Juggling in Pairs. Its an intensive close repetition drill that conditions kids to move, call, think and evaluate their own development while getting hundreds of ball touches. This drill teaches kids to pass and move (give and go) instead of just standing there waiting for the ball. With three or more kids, they constantly try to improve their positioning. 02.01.2022 Natural skills: When Soccer kids kick a ball, look at their eyes. When they head the ball, look at their feet. - - - - - - - - - - At training, coaches spend so much time looking at Soccer skills that they overlook the natural skills that all kids have. Perfect striking technique means nothing if kids dont know what to look at or how to move their feet when they kick a ball. Natural skills make it easier to learn Soccer skills. Natural skills include looking, listening, call...ing, thinking, understanding, learning, making decisions and moving. When the pressure is on and kids make mistakes in a game, coaches dont criticise the Soccer skills. They question the natural skills. They shout things like: Wake up, Call for the ball, Watch the offside, Why dont you listen?, Open your eyes and think about it. They suddenly worry about the natural skills and they dont even realise it. http://freestylesoccer.com.au/skills/#tensimple
