24.01.2022 CHECK THIS OUT Southern Lost City Campgrounds is one of the five camping areas within the Limmen National Park. The site has bush camping with basic facilities and a walking track. The Park offers a wonderful remote experience featuring amazing sandstone formations, river systems and associated wetlands, and it is also steeped in culture and history.... To really experience the location make sure you have your walking shoes packed and trek the 2.7km track in and around the stone pillars. Definitely a walk you want to do in the late afternoon or morning to beat the heat and experience the amazing colours of the NT outback. Travel Outback Australia #nt #outbacknt

23.01.2022 STOKES BAY location on Kangaroo Island - what a busy little hub in the middle of the north coast road. We stopped off at the Lavendar farm on the way. It has the most beautiful lavendar products so we got some new hand wash there. Stokes Bay has a beautiful busy little cafe called ROCK POOL CAFE which had the BEST prawns I had eaten in a long while to perfection. Kids nailed the fish and chips, and loved playing in the little play area at the cafe. From the car park you ca...n wander down through the cafes to find a nice little beach. It wasn’t out type of beach, WAY to many tourists and the day we went the weather was average. The cafe is worth the drive, however you’ll find much better beaches and swimming holes around the island.

23.01.2022 Have to say old Lucy the Landcruiser is holding up pretty well after hitting Cape York hard these past 4 weeks. Small ding in the back left, bent side steps and overall pretty good. I am also impressed how well VANessa our Royal Flair Aussie Mate is going with next to no internal dust or issues.... Left Moreton Telegraph Station today for a quick stop over at Chilli Beach on the west coast. Getting sad 26 nights down with only 8 more to go in our Cape York adventure.

23.01.2022 When you plan your Cape York trip make sure you include Elim Beach and Coloured Sands to your itinerary! It’s famous for the different colour sands. There is so much beauty to experience. It looks amazing from the sky. We haven’t even been here 24 hours and it’s been stunning! ... We are staying at Eddie’s Elin Beach Camp Stay. Here is a snap shot of the beaches, plenty more photo spam to come from this little hidden gem. Also we are here for a couple of days, let us know if there is anything that is must see or must do here!

22.01.2022 Bitter Springs is only a few kilometres out of Mataranka NT, in Elsey National Park. You hop in at one end and a gentle current carries you downstream. After winding through ferns and palms for about 100m, you jump out and follow a path back to the start where you can do it all again. There is two main water springs in Mataranka NT with Bitter Springs being slightly less commercialised and less suited to the younger children. We are fortunate to arrive at the end of the dry season where we had the place to ourselves which was amazing. The kids were free to do what they wanted i.e bombs from the bridge and not get in trouble for splashing everyone

22.01.2022 Ok ok ok...... did we take Lucy the Toyota Landcruiser 200 series down gunshot on the old telegraph track up Cape York . . . .... . . . um HELL YES.... Was it scary?.....Yup Did we have second thoughts?.....Yup Is is that steep? .....Yup Do loads of vehicles go the chicken track around?....Yup Do people badly damage their vehicle?....Yup Do we only live once?....Yup Then SEND IT credit legendary_adventures_

21.01.2022 Want to know where this awesome location is? Any guesses

20.01.2022 Cradle Mountain is definitely a special place and well worthy of its heritage listing. We didn’t get to venture to the summit on this occasion but will definitely be back to complete the mission. Love seeing all the wildlife and untouched wilderness that we have at our doorstep. ... Discover Tasmania

20.01.2022 Big today for us today checking out some locations. First stop: Fly Point, Somerset Cape York for some quick photos and sightseeing.

19.01.2022 Located in the locality of Warumungu about 105 km south of Tennant Creek, and 393 km north of Alice Springs, NT. The Devils Marbles NT are of great cultural and spiritual significance to the traditional owners of the land, and the reserve protects one of the oldest religious sites in the world as well as the natural rock formations found there. Karlu Karlu is the local Aboriginal term translated as round boulders and refers to the very large boulders found mainly in the area.... A beautiful location with camping and amenities available. Also, please make sure you respect the requests of the traditional owners and do not climb the rocks Travel Outback Australia Tourism NT

19.01.2022 On our way down from the coast and amazing how much the conditions can change in a few weeks. Few more corrugations and dust holes on this leg of the trip for sure. We have stopped in a great little spot in Coen QLD that we get to spend the next two nights at. More pictures to follow.

16.01.2022 White Lily Lagoon : Rinyirru (Lakefield NP) It’s well worth stopping at this beautiful waterhole, not far from the main road. The sprinkling of white waterlilies is a oasis amongst the red dust and dirt.. Spend a few hours watching the birdlife from the lagoon's natural viewing area. Look for magpie geese, sarus cranes, brolgas, egrets, spoonbills, ibis, comb-crested jacanas and all kinds of bird life

15.01.2022 So we have made it back into civilisation and can start to do the post Cape York checklist clean your finger nails wash your feet wash your hair ... clean your car and van fix any damaged vehicles throw away your kids clothes go and by more new clothes But most importantly remember all the memories, and one of the most remote and beautiful locations in Australia. Keep an eye out over the next week for our upcoming blogs and campsite reviews on Cape York and 34 nights in a caravan.

14.01.2022 Would you drive down GUNSHOT? Is it even that steep? Have you done it? If so show us a pic

13.01.2022 Exploring Cape York with the kids: Our 34 day itinerary in a Caravan So here it is... Our 34 nights of travelling Cape York in a caravan with our three children and a convoy of 4 other families creating memories and living their best life. ... We have put together all the locations we stayed at with our van, and what to expect. Although we had a rough plan heading up north we originally planned to only stay a couple of weeks. This changed as we started to experience all the beauty and adventure around us. The funny thing is we have only scratched the surface of this amazing place and definitely will be back to see more in the next few years. Definitely have to say in our year on the road this has by far been one of the best trips. But like anything it is the people you share these memories with and we are grateful through for meeting these rockstars legendary_adventures_, Big Oz Explorers, Chrissy Taylor and Ashley Barr. They definitely made the trip something we will remember for the rest of our life. We hope you enjoy our experiences and maybe see you on the road. Click the link below https://www.freetoexplore.co/exploring-cape-york-with-the-/ P.s we still have a van and it’s still in one piece

13.01.2022 Ross is a historic town in the Midlands of the state of Tasmania in Australia. On the Macquarie River, Ross is located 78 km south of Launceston and 117 km north of Hobart. We enjoyed a quick overnight stay while catching up with the Royal Flair catchup at Ross Caravan Park. It definitely has a loads of history and is set on some amazing tree lined streets. Make sure you check out the local stone fired bakery for some amazing sour dough bread and vanilla slice... yum yum

13.01.2022 A quick snapshot of one of the water crossings along the old Telegraph Track at Cape York. Make sure you keep an eye out for more to come in the next week or so.

We have been living on the road and in a bit of a bubble with the pandemic going on, however we do know a lot of people have been doing it tough. 11.01.2022 Rapid Bay SA : make sure you check out our full campsite review in the comments below and put it on your list.

11.01.2022 Today we checked out the 2km Barrawulla return walk in the Caranbirini Conservation Reserve. It is a short but rocky trail and took you through some amazing rock formations. The trail takes you around and through the structures and was generally an easy walk if you watched your footing.... To get there simply take the Carpentaria Highway and travel 46 km south-west of Borroloola or 64 km east of Cape Crawford. An easy 500m gravel road for two wheel drive vehicles leads to the car park. A couple of tips would be to make an early start to avoid the hot afternoon sun and also bring a fly net as they were very very friendly.

10.01.2022 Last week we had our van in for some general repairs and wanted to catchup with some good friends The Savage Life on Phillip Island VIC. How good are the views from the air on sunset? ... what do you think?

10.01.2022 We are sooo grateful. We had a dream to teach our kids culture, history and geography through exploring and experiencing it. In our early 30’s we hadn’t been any where but Aus + NZ. Now our kids have been road schooled for 15 months and also prior to this have visited 19 countries. SO bloody grateful every single day. We can always make more money but we never ever get the time back. Make sure you are making memories and enjoying the journey. It’s actually the whole point! .... . . #kangarooisland #southaustralia #flinderschasenationalpark See more

09.01.2022 Who wants to see how this ended? Let us know in the comments and I’ll upload. We nailed the OTT, even did gunshot! Tracks around Mutee Head ... ... well let’s just say max trax are out and it was a sad day that Lucy the Landcruiser was winched out by a D-Max . Thanks legendary_adventures_ * note: This was after ALOTTTTTT of trying from Boss to get out so it didn’t come to that. .

09.01.2022 The Field of Lights based inUluru NT is a large-scale site-specific light-based installation created by British artist Bruce Munro. We decided to do the night tour with a 7:45pm pickup with a short 10 minute drive on a tour bus taking you to the location. While there you are able to walk around the lights self guided and take in the experience. There is a number of different tour options and times available Prices for the tour we jumped on was $44 per adult and $31 per child so with a large family it was quite costly but definitely memorable.

09.01.2022 Our second spot of the day involved checking out and doing some recon for our next campsite at Mutee Head. When ever we go to an unfamiliar location where we are unsure about accessibility it’s always a good idea to check it out prior to having our van on the back. And...........Wow what a magnificent spot

08.01.2022 Northern end of Elim Beach QLD There is a small pocket of time to make a run down to the northern end of Elim Beach between tides. Going on the beach in your vehicle at low tide is definitely a must. There are rusted out 4WD’s along the beach to remind you of this fact. Along the beach you will find steep sand hills that the kids will love running down and thousands of small soldiers crabs all along the sand flats.... Put this down as a must see when up near the Cooktown area.

08.01.2022 Foelshe River Free Camp NT We we’re fortunate enough to have this campsite all to ourselves. The campsite is overlooking Foelshe River and would be big enough to fit three large caravans comfortably. The area was clean and free of rubbish and you would need to be self sufficent as no facilities. ... We enjoyed a swim down in the water below and created a dam like structure in the shallow water to ensure we had no unfriendly visitors. The water was clean and clear with a decent current that was refreshing after a day travelling. We travelled from Hells Gate QLD and a tip would be that you need to have a good off-road setup as the roads are very corrugated and washed out in a number of areas. Also it would not be easily accessed during most of the wet season This is a great spot to stay overnight

08.01.2022 Simpsons Gap NT is one of the most prominent gaps in the West MacDonnell Ranges. Located around 18 kilometres from Alice Springs, it features the towering cliffs of Simpsons Range, a permanent waterhole and opportunities to spot resident wildlife. While our visit was at the end of the dry the water levels were very low, stagnant and not swimmable. An easy to access location just 5 minutes easy walk from the carpark.... Like many other outback locations we would recommend you bring a hat, water and a fly net as the weather is warm and the insects are friendly

07.01.2022 Free Camping at Mutee Beach, Cape York QLD Easy access with caravans with a large site overlooking the water and a golden sand beach. Fires permitted and a rubbish bin is provided by local authorities. ... No other amenities so we love to respect this beautiful location and keep it clean. Extra bonus is 4G wifi to catch up on some work and with the fam at home! As usual WikiCamps for the win!

07.01.2022 Scamander is a small town at the mouth of the Scamander River between St Helens and St Marys on the north-east coast of Tasmania. We were lucky enough to check out this cool little spot for a few days while we bunkered down during the big storms we had last week. Anyone else been to this beautiful spot?... Discover Tasmania

06.01.2022 This is the TIP of Australia, most northerly part of the island and pics from exploring at sunrise. We got up early to make it there for Sunrise. It was a little over cast and was a 10 minute drive from Punsand Bay. It took us about 5-10 minutes to walk to the tip from the car park. It was low tide so we walked along the beach to get there, and we had the entire place to ourselves. ... We came back over the rocks. It was so nice. I didn’t except it to be so lovely as I had only seen pictures with the famous sign. Another bucket list ticked off, and it was an awesome substitute as we were meant to go to NZ and be skiing and snowboarding Queenstown for Nathan’s 40th! Covid gave us a new plan! Totally Recommend the Sunrise at the tip, I think it’d be epic at sunset too, and spend some time up there to explore and take in the sensational view and surroundings! What was your favourite part of Cape York? #capeyork

06.01.2022 Wanting to know some of the best Camp spots in Australia ??.... then make sure you LIKE and FOLLOW US to see ALL the amazing locations. We spent last night free camping at Archer Point not to far South of Cooktown. There was tonnes of mint spots around and lots of people as it’s Queensland School Holidays. ... There is a cute little box lighthouse at the top of the hill. The sunset was as epic as the Sunrise. It was a little windy, we found a sheltered spot which was a little protected, however we still got the drones up and had a quick fish (caught nothing). We had fish (which we caught at Roko) shallow fried in the camp oven and spuds in the fire . Star gazed at night. Nearly burnt the van down in the morning boiling eggs (thankful for the fire alarm and swift fire training from my nursing days.) One more night and our Cape Trip is done. What a trip..... what a beautiful part of the country. Amazing people, memories for a lifetime! Perfect overnight stop over. Guess where we are headed next?

06.01.2022 Chilli Beach Cape York We drove from Moreton Telegraph Station to Chilli Beach. It’s about half an hour drive from Lockhart River. What we didn’t anticipate was how bad the roads would be. We did have a few near misses on the roads, with dips and gravel. Thankfully we weren’t driving at speed. The most traffic we have seen on the roads. ... Some water crossings and all different surface, some wet and slippery. In hindsight we would leave the caravan and drive for the night for and use the tent. It would be an easy drive with out the caravans on the back. Our average speed was 47kms per hour and it took us just over 4 hours. We stayed in the Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park. It needs to be booked in advance and was $12 for two adults. We had campsites 1,2 and 3 for our convoy and it was epic. 10m walk to the beach. Was a little windy but our camp spot was sheltered and we love it. Would recommend a visit for sure. Fire at night. Short walk to a drop toilet. You can also drive along the beach. We got up early for Sunrise, even though it was cloudy it was amazing. Fuel up before you go. There is a petrol station in Lockhart River. The supermarket is shut on Sunday. Our fridge shat itself at Mutee Head, so we are excited to get some food supplies today as supplies are low.

06.01.2022 Happy Sunday from our family to yours! An absolutely magical and spiritual location spending it with some dam awesome people. Who else has been here and what was your favourite photo ? Put it in the comments below... Australia.com

05.01.2022 Need an overnight stay on your way south on the Stuart Hwy to Alice Springs try Banka Banka Station Great spot to setup on green grass and rest after the long drive. A licensed bar from 6pm is a great way to unwind in front of the communal fire . Great way to meet other travellers. If you want to have a swim take a 2km walk down to the waterhole or if you are keen get up in the morning climb the hill and watch the amazing sunrises.

05.01.2022 Border Crossing After 9 months travelling fulltime in only one state we have finally crossed the borders into Northern Territory (NT). The ironic thing is when we first we started planning our trip around Australia we were only going for 12 months and we weren’t even go to really check out Queensland. ... BAM Covid hit changed our plans and honestly it has worked out in our favour. Queensland has been absolutely awesome and still much more for us to see and do. Where is your favourite place in Queensland?

05.01.2022 Our next free camp was a great gravel pit stop over on the top of the southern old telegraph track. Plenty of space and easy to access with a van and very handy to the track and also the Falls (Fruit Bat, Elliot, Twin & Saucepan) If you want to take your van up to Cape York but still want to access the track then this is a perfect stay over.... Thanks WikiCamps for always helping out with all the great spots.

04.01.2022 Everyone needs to check out the Falls on the OTT! It is an easy to access road from the PDR around 10-20 minutes along the old telegraph track. Fruit Bat Falls: An iconic location with a swimming area with a sandy rock bottom. Beautiful location but thought other spots were better to swim in.... Twin Falls: Best location for smaller children with a small sandy bottom and a smaller area where you can keep a good eye on everyone. Elliot Falls: Falls with a more powerful current and larger drop offs which suits the older crowd and people wanting to jump in below to the deeper water. Crystal clear water with a sandy rock bottom. Be careful of the hidden logs below when jumping. Saucepan: Personally with our three children this was our favourite as it had deeper water to jump into alongside little holes where you could sit and receive a lovely shoulder massage from the water Make sure you put these on your list when visiting the cape.

03.01.2022 Our next stop along the Nathan River Road in the Limmen National Park is Towns River campground with some unofficial sites right on the waters edge. An absolutely amazing spotwith toilets and site for just $6.60 for a family! Bargain $$ Although we were not able to catch any fish we could definitely see big barramundi sitting under the rivers edge.

03.01.2022 Yesterday we were fortunate enough to check out Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Lake Amadeus from above with a hour helicopter ride with the team at Professional Helicopter Services. We definitely were in awe of the formations and love being able to experience the beauty of the red centre. In case you wanted to know more about these amazing natural wonders below is some interesting facts Uluru is one of Australia's most recognisable natural landmarks. The sandstone formation stands... 348 m high, rising 863 m above sea level with most of its bulk lying underground, and has a total perimeter of 9.4 km Uluru is notable for appearing to change colour at different times of the day and year, most notably when it glows red at dawn and sunset. It was also surprising that part of the rock was over 50 million years older than the other. Lake Amadeus is a large salt lake in the southwest corner of Northern Territory of Australia, about 50 kilometres north of Uluru. Due to the aridity of the area, the surface of Lake Amadeus is usually a dry salt crust. In times of sufficient rainfall, it is part of an east-flowing drainage system that eventually connects to the Finke River. Kata Tjuta, also known as Mount Olga or the Olgas, lies 25 km west of Uluru. The 36 domes that make up Kata Tjua cover an area of 21.68 km2 are composed of conglomerate, a sedimentary rock consisting of cobbles and boulders of varying rock types including granite and basalt, cemented by a matrix of sandstone.

02.01.2022 Travelling Australia has allowed us to travel to some absolutely amazing places over the past 13 months. How good is this spot? Have you been?
