18.01.2022 Fremantle Women’s Health Centre would like to advise that there is an outbreak of syphilis in the Perth metropolitan area. Syphilis is highly contagious and can be easily spread through intimate contact or unprotected sex. Many people with syphilis have no symptoms. Of concern is the increase in cases of women of childbearing age, as syphilis in pregnancy can cause life-long disability for the child, miscarriage, still birth or infant death.... Sexually active people are encouraged to ask their doctor for a syphilis blood test, in particular females aged 1640 years. Please call us on 9431 0500 if you have any concerns and share this post to spread the awareness.
