23.01.2022 Heidemarie, her violinist Waltraut and Noeleen sound amazing and the program is fantastic!
19.01.2022 Fremantle Chamber Orchestra Conductor Mark Coughlan Rebecca Glorie (violin) Louise McKay (cello) Anna Sleptsova (piano)... Rossini: An Italian in Algiers Schubert: Symphony 1 Beethoven: Triple Concerto Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano (Triple Concerto) is his only concerto for 3 soloists and an exquisite composition featuring some of Perth’s most exciting musicians: violinist Rebecca Glorie, cellist Louise McKay and pianist Anna Sleptsova. Mark Coughlan will focus on conducting FCO because of an arm injury. Rossini’s humorous overture An Italian in Algiers and Schubert’s glorious but rarely heard Symphony 1 complement this most uplifting program. 17.01.2022 FCO at Perth Modern School this afternoon. Pianist Heidimarie Wiesner was SENSATIONAL. I have been to almost countless concerts in places I have lived - in Aus...tralia and in places that I have been in the audience of concerts in places renowned for the great composers and their classical music - Vienna especially, Salzburg, Berlin, London, Prague, Budapest, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, Paris, Florence & Rome, ..certainly others. Today at Perth Modern my only concern was to take some half decnt photos. That was secondary as it turned out. I was stunned by Haydn's Piano Concerto. Alive, Fresh, Exciting. Heidimarie Wiesner is such an under-rated artist on a world scale in my opinion...I hesitate to say pianist..(but Heidemarie IS a winner of the prestigious Schumman Preis) .it is beyond driving a tool of music making. She skillfully and soulfully, draws out the life and soul of the instrument, the composer (Haydn this time) and the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra led by conductor Chris van Tuinen. Pure brilliance and totally music. It still feels like the first time I have discovered this music. I am searching Youtube for a comparable performance....no luck. FCO and Heidemarie are playing for you again tomorrow in Fremantle. 3pm at the Town Hall....Check earlier posts for details. Free parking too - in Beach Rd north of the Fremantle Train Station
16.01.2022 Fremantle Chamber Orchestra DIRECTOR'S NOTES 27 & 28 October 2018 Hans Hug, cellist and FCO Director... A most uplifting program with fantastic soloists Rossini, Schubert, Beethoven Rossini’s Overture the Italian Girl in Algiers is a perfect opener like a glass of champagne before a substantial meal. Recognisably Rossini it’s full of sweet, light-hearted melodies and humour. Several solo instruments pass the lovely tune around. Schubert is famous for his beautiful melodies and his first Symphony is an example. Only 16 years of age when composing his Symphony 1 the listener is immediately transported into early romanticism and beautiful long melodic phrases. There is also this youthful positiveness and energy. Why is this glorious work so rarely played? Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano (Triple Concerto) is his only concerto for 3 soloists and an exquisite composition. Here Beethoven shows mastery: how to give each soloist enough individual attention, and how to keep the cello from becoming buried. He solved these problems ingeniously: the first by having his three soloists play often just as a trio, the second by allowing the cellist the first statement of many of the themes. And there is no Beethoven frown: the Triple Concerto is expansive music, relaxed yet breathtaking. No wonder it’s so famous. Fremantle Chamber Orchestra is thrilled that some of Perth’s most exciting musicians are soloists and lead the orchestra: violinist Rebecca Glorie, cellist Louise McKay, pianist Anna Sleptsova and conductor Mark Coughlan.
16.01.2022 This coming weekend...+ Friday too
16.01.2022 Mr Koelman’s ability to touch listeners’ hearts from the first to the last note is unreached. simply stunning, sublime, moved to tears, truly magic are just some listeners’ comments. Indeed Mr Koelman is the only violinist ever who has recorded live all Paganini Capricci (the pinnacle of violin playing), winner of the prestigious Edison Music Award, Jascha Heifetz’s last active student and plays on the Woolhouse Stradivarius. With the fantastic Paul Wright conducting, the 15th Anniversary concerts will be a hit! Enjoy Feb 2019 recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1I4imtr5aw

13.01.2022 Fantastic Fremantle Chamber Orchestra this afternoon in Freo. DON'T MISS THE SECOND CONCERT TOMORROW (Sunday) AT GOVT HOUSE PERTH. Brilliant all round with fan...tastic programming and a sensational second half featuring violinist Rebecca Glorie, cellist Louise McKay and pianist Anna Sleptsova. Mark Coughlan conducting....Brilliant work. Looking through a long lens it was exciting to see up close just how much fun (?? musical banter maybe? ) the soloists and orchestra had performing Beethoven's Triple Concerto. I cannot remember a better combination performing this great work with such vitality and energy. The rehearsals foretold of an exciting show to come. Details of Sunday's concert are in earlier posts below. DON"T MISS IT! See more
