24.01.2022 Have you ever considered becoming an eye donor? The Lions Eye Bank is responsible for collecting, processing and distributing corneal and sclera tissue throug...hout Western Australia. To date, it has provided high quality tissue for over 3,000 corneal transplants. You might be wondering, who can be an eye donor? The answer is most people are eligible to donate. Having poor vision, wearing glasses and/or having macular degeneration does not preclude people from becoming donors, as these conditions do not affect the cornea. People with other eye diseases and conditions are also eligible, as medical researchers are interested in receiving eye tissue from people with eye disease to contribute to a greater scientific understanding of disease.
