25.01.2022 On such a perfect winters day no wonder Marine Rescue Whitfords and FSR were kept so busy! The big job for the day was a broken down vessel off the west end of Rottnest. As it was going back to Hillarys we passed the baton to Green 3 who along with Green 1 also spent the day responding to broken down boaties. Rover 2 completed its (hopefully) last job for the night taking a broken down vessel from Port Beach back to Leeuwin Boat Ramp at 8:30 tonight. This usually simple job proved more challenging due to the large number of boats prawning around East Fremantle.

25.01.2022 First rescue of the day...

25.01.2022 Can you guess where we are? In conditions like this, were thankful for charts and radar

24.01.2022 Have you seen the live cameras page on our website? https://www.searescue.com.au/resources/live-cameras/ Fremantle Sea Rescue have teamed up with Swan Canoe Club to create SCCTV. The live camera situated on the roof of the Swan River Canoe Club in Mosman Park streams high definition video of the Swan River 24/7/365.... During normal operation the camera will cycle through points of interests on the river. Manual override is also possible for events or emergencies. Our website's live camera section also has feeds from the Fremantle Ports 360 Degree Roundshot Cameras placed on the roof of the Port Authority Building and FSR's Cantonment Hill Rescue Operations Centre. If you're planning a day on the water check the weather and our live cameras before heading out!

24.01.2022 Way off the mark! RoVeR 2 and Resolute were tasked to locate and recover a wayward port lateral marker. Posing a navigational hazard, it was eventually located near the Windmills where RoVeR 2 got it in tow and took it back Fishing Boat Harbour.

24.01.2022 Caption this pic! Best comment wins a FSR hat

24.01.2022 How’s your Saturday night going? Spare a thought for our crew onboard Resolute who are currently towing a 30ft cruiser back to Fremantle after it lost drive 5nm north west of West End. Luckily we earn the big bucks ... UPDATE: after departing Fremantle at 7:30pm, Resolute was back in the pen and shut down at 1:15am

23.01.2022 From our Good Friends at DOT. With boats getting bigger, we are often asked what the laws and regulations are surrounding towing boats. Well here is the definitive answer. https://www.facebook.com//a.837948652911/5000397706666910/

23.01.2022 First rescue of the day!

23.01.2022 Another hectic day with 9 rescues! Our volunteers were once again run off their feet helping out the Perth boating community both offshore and on the river. Today saw vessels grounded on the rocks, partially sunk and every possible type of breakdown. Be careful out there people.

23.01.2022 The brave men and women onboard Western Australia Police Vessel Cygnet V as they punch bow first into Mondays storm responding to a swimmer in distress off City Beach. When you choose to risk your life there will always be emergency service personnel risking theirs to save you. Please observe the conditions and listen to the warnings before risking your life first. Thankfully the swimmer was found safe and well onshore a short time later by Surf Life Saving WA. ... Thanks to FSR fan John Blakey for sending us these incredible photos.

22.01.2022 Is your boat ready for summer? Make sure your safety equipment is up to date, engines are serviced and your weeds are removed

22.01.2022 Night rescues are a large part of our work and ongoing training is paramount to safety and efficiency to both our crew and the boating community. Tonights was a perfect calm winter evening in the Swan River for some night training for our crew onboard Resolute and Gemini1. We had time to practice Towing and Rafting as well as FLIR and Radar Navigation.

22.01.2022 The crew of our Rescue Boat Resolute reported this shark sighting around 3pm whilst carrying out Man Overboard drills today. 4m Tiger Shark around Kingston Reef heading towards Bathurst. Umm... It was decided pretty quickly that's enough MOB training for today.

22.01.2022 Recently, Rescue Vessel Resolute and Rescue Helicopter 651 conducted another training exercise at sea. Rescue 651 pilot gives Resolute skipper a specific straight heading and a speed of between 5 and 8 knots depending on the weather situation. When all crew and equipment are safe and ready, the approach and winching operation starts.... It is always an exciting day and highlight for all crew involved.

22.01.2022 R100 and crew providing safety and support to CHC SAR Auto Hover Aircraft during winching excercises off the coast of Cottesloe.

21.01.2022 It was a perfect winters day and we were kept busy! The first was a 27ft cruiser that broke down off Fishing Boat Harbour. This was handed over our friends Cockburn Volunteer Sea Search & Rescue who took it back to Port Coogee. We are currently enjoying 2 perfect sunset tows, one being a 28ft flybridge cruiser that broke down off Point Walter and the other a Black Watch off Mewstone Rocks

20.01.2022 Congratulations Mike Graham! Such an incredible achievement for a true gentleman and a pioneer for volunteer marine rescue in WA

20.01.2022 Our volunteers dont just attend to rescues on the water. Today the crew on RoVeR 2 were alerted by a member of the public to an elderly gentleman who had a nasty fall in the Fishing Boat Harbour carpark. Thanks for the lovely message Bec. Were all hoping the gentleman makes a speedy recovery!

17.01.2022 Another day, another training opportunity! When you see us at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, we do have a coffee, but we also train our crew. Meet FSR volunteers. Denise, an experienced Senior Crew, explaining the intricacies of a chart plotter to Trevor, while R100 skipper Dene, is assessing Rob on Shipboard Safety. We love being part of the team!

17.01.2022 And... Rotto is open for business! Our crew are ready to assist if needed.

16.01.2022 Tonights 2am rescue is brought to you by a 37ft sports cruiser that discovered Pelican Rocks in the Swan River. Gemini 1 got the vessel in tow and took it back to South of Perth Yacht Club where it was safely rafted into its pen.

15.01.2022 Towing and rafting training this weekend to keep crews and skippers ready to assist our boating community for when they are in need of a helping hand.

14.01.2022 Thanks South Of Perth Yacht Club for the invite. Flare demo was nearly as big of a hit with the big kids as playing with the Sirens and Blue Lights was for the little kids.

13.01.2022 On a rainy winters day whod of thought we could be so busy? Today we attended to 5 rescues. One of which was a 36ft cruiser taking on water at Rottnest. Thankfully Resolute was able to get the vessel in tow and take it back to Blue HQ Marinas where an emergency lift was arranged.

13.01.2022 When bombies suddenly appear

12.01.2022 Rover 2 and R100 doing their thing off Fremantle Thanks to Lindsay Preece for capturing this great photo and sorry to race winner Obsession for the photobomb at the finish line

12.01.2022 Were used to seeing dolphins but a seal?!

12.01.2022 Getting ready for a busy day!

11.01.2022 Do you like our new haircut? This morning City of Fremantle removed the mast off our Cantonment Hill Rescue Operations Centre for some much needed corrosion repairs and painting works. For the next 3 weeks a temporary scaffold will allow our marine communication infrastructure to maintain its 24/7 coverage.

11.01.2022 The roof of our Cantonment Hill Rescue Operations Centre is a pretty special place

10.01.2022 Incredible work by the skilled team at Cockburn Sea Rescue

10.01.2022 The incredible footage of yesterdays rescue off Garden Island as seen by Rescue 651

10.01.2022 This afternoon our tower received a call about a kite surfer in distress off South Beach due to the strong offshore winds. Resolute responded at speed with Water Police vessel TW154 to the area. In a true team effort, the Fremantle Ports control tower was able to guide us in thanks to their elevated vantage point. Resolute was able to recover the kite and return it to the kitesurfer who was thankfully now safe ashore

10.01.2022 Let this be a timely reminder to always use your safety kill switch. Incredibly no one was killed but 1 person suffered injuries from the collision.

08.01.2022 This is why you NEVER, EVER ride up on the bow! We see this all the time and the consequences can be horrific. Thankfully no one was hurt in this video, but take it from us... prop strikes and massive head injuries are not fun!

08.01.2022 Someone's up for a pretty wet ride home.

07.01.2022 Who has popped off a flare, OK who wants too? Continuing the Summer Safety Message, we will be holding one of our regular LOG ON/OFF clinics at Leeuwin Boat Ramp this Sunday from 07:30. This is where we can help teach you the advantages of Logging your journey so someone knows where you are and specialists are on watch 24/7 if needed. We even have a public Flare demo at 10:30. You know, those funny looking things in a plastic bag you never use but have to buy every 3 years.... It’s free, and an important safety service from your friendly Neighbourhood Sea Rescue Group. No bookings needed just come on down and say Hi to one of the Crew.

07.01.2022 Are you ready to help our boating community? Fremantle Sea Rescue is now looking for new volunteers to contribute to our diverse group. To find out how to join us, click on the following link and register your interest before the 20th of September.... https://www.searescue.com.au/volunteer/overview/ We are looking forward to meeting you soon.

07.01.2022 Teamwork makes dream work!

06.01.2022 Tender on the loose in Longreach Bay! The occupant was ejected from their tender this afternoon which started spinning around a packed bay with swimmers and boats in the water. Thankfully no one was hurt and the quick thinking bystanders managed to stop the out of control boat. However this entire situation would never of happened if the skipper was simply wearing their safety kill cord. They’re so simple to use and like putting on a seatbelt it soon becomes second nature.

06.01.2022 With Rotto reopening tomorrow we would like to remind everyone to check your local weather forecasts and thoroughly check your vessels before heading out. Ensure you have fuel, water, up to date safety equipment and its mechanically and structurally sound. Finally, dont forget to log on with us or your local Marine Rescue group at your point of departure. Volunteer marine rescue groups offer this service for free and we love taking your calls VHF ch73, 81, 82 and 27mhz ch90 and by phone 9335 1332 https://www.searescue.com.au/learn/log-on/

06.01.2022 What a difference a day makes! Yesterday with the amazing weather, both Gemini 1 and RoVeR 2 were kept busy with 4 jobs both offshore and in the river. This included a 42ft cruiser that lost power in the mouth of Fremantle Harbour with a 96,000ton container ship about to arrive. RoVeR 2 arrived on scene in under 6 minutes and towed the vessel to clear of the ships path before rafting it into its pen up river.

05.01.2022 This morning Rover 2 responded at speed to a 24ft vessel taking on water off the south side of Rottnest. The quick thinking skipper drove his boat into the shelter of Porpoise Bay where Rover 2 was able to deploy its salvage pump. The culprit was excessive water from the rough conditions and a stuck shut bilge pump float switch. Luckily the boat was pumped out and returned back to Fremantle unassisted with Rover 2 shadowing.

01.01.2022 A very timely Public Service Message from your friendly Sea Rescue Group. What's up with all the tenders, trampolines and kayaks going adrift at Rotto over Christmas. You know your Dads advice if you cant tie a knot tie a lot...... Well its right up there with blame the dog. And that's never worked either We have had at least 6 reports of tenders going adrift, so a quick lesson in knots and the first picture definitely isn't one of them.... A couple of knots all boaties should know. Bowline, Clove Hitch & Cleat Hitch. These 3 will get you out of trouble. So be safe people and TAG a mate who cant tie a knot and could use some instruction.

01.01.2022 Good weather is here folks and we are gearing up for a busy Summer. A speed run to a sinking Vessel, 2 tows and 2 rafts and that was only one of our boats and all before Lunch. Oh and sorry Mum Im gonna be home a little late for dinner too. ... Picture by one of our new Trainees. Well done Martin
