20.01.2022 This National Stroke Week (31 August to 6 September) Stroke Foundation is celebrating F.A.S.T. heroes Australians who can be ready to save a life by simply knowing and recognising the F.A.S.T. signs of stroke. You can be a F.A.S.T. hero and save the life of a colleague, a loved one or even yourself by understanding the F.A.S.T. (Face, Arms, Speech and Time) signs of stroke and calling an ambulance straight away. In Australia, a stroke occurs every 9 minutes and around 25... percent of stroke survivors are of working age. But the good news is that it doesn't need to be this way. Up to 80 percent of strokes are preventable. Hundreds of community activities will be held across the country including information stalls, virtual workplace morning teas and online talks from stroke survivors. As part of your Surf Life-saving program, your Club could host a online StrokeSafe Speaker, either in person or online. Our Speakers are trained in public speaking and are experienced in delivering lifesaving messages about stroke. Get your free Stroke Week kit today! The Kit includes posters, banners, badges, bookmarks, stickers and more! https://strokefoundation.org.au/strokeweek/register

07.01.2022 As the beach is getting busier now, Coaches, Trainers and all Members are reminded that when using any craft in the ocean or river and when driving a vehicle on the beach, that the awareness of people around you is extremely important. We should all increase our observation and awareness of what is happening around us. The public has the right to swim or be in areas where we operate and train as much as we do, so please respect their presence and by simple and polite communication actively take steps to avoid what might be a serious incident.

07.01.2022 Fremantle SLSC might patrol a usually calm beach and have a lot of fun, but the skills, training and guidance provided to our Nippers and Youth is truly life saving.
